"End of First Matrix"

And that, my disappointed comrades, is why video games are still not considered art by the mainstream. Because "writers" like Walters literally *write down* what ideas they plan on zoinking from other IP. The Matrix sucked, but it was their own ideas at least. Games will never be seen as anything more than poor timewasters thanks to that piece of paper, and ones just like it. Much could be said about his awful choice of ripoff, but it's the simple fact that it IS a ripoff that is the most disappointing. I'm sure alot of projects take inspiration from other sources, and say, "We wanna do something kinda like Star Wars: A New Hope". But ultimately they don't stick too close to that because ripping off someone else's ideas makes you look like an idiot. And yet.....end of Matrix, here we are.

He should be embarassed by this. "Lots of speculation from everyone" has morphed into "How did this man get a job?"

I think we are missing a larger point here.

The problem isn't that this now-infamous piece of loose-leaf paper has some disorganized and not fully developed thoughts scrawled on it. I would actually be stunned if the brainstorming notes didn't look like this or even worse.

The real issue is that there seems to have been very little refinement of the ideas between a free-for-all brainstorming session and the final script. This is in keeping with some other pieces of information reported in the "Final Hours" documentary, specifically that they were overhauling and re-writing everything as late as November/December of last year. If they needed to slap together an ending held together with duct tape and bailing twine at the last second they were bound to overlook some of the larger plot holes in the ending.

Writing is always chaotic at first. You just need to edit and refine your ideas along the way so the audience's final thought isn't "What is Garrus doing on the Normandy and is he going to starve to death on that planet?"

Lots of speculation.... go to hell. Yeah, it's a brainstorming piece of paper - ok I can live with that. But that alone - lost any respect I had up to this point. Was willing to listen to BW and what they have to say, but this..... You disgust me.

Anyone else think that this is the real reason Drew quit?

I reckon he saw what a piece of Sh$% they'd turned his vision into and started to despair.

Not to mention there is a distinct lack of any mention of our decisions having any impact whatsoever.

Sort of wanted to quit getting my master's degree in creative writing in favor of just drinking all the time.

I laughed.

A bitter, miserable, angry laugh, but laughter all the same.

The fact that this scrap piece of paper, this unrefined, completely unthought out scrap of paper is the most coherent version of the ending is madness. The complete detachment from what the fanbase would obviously want and enjoy is just unbelievable.

Its just a brain storming, no final work. Still you can see how all things worked out in the game which are on this paper. "Lots of speculation" is just the tip of the iceberg...

Its old though, was on these forums a few days ago. This picture will be deleted here soon, cause its copyright of an app.

I think I raged pretty hard. Then I thought it was a lie. Now it just makes me laugh, because I'm tired of crying.
