I'm not going to lie, I loved Hackett. Granted he did seem to defer to your judgement a lot (Which in my opinion makes him better since so many other people don't listen to you at all but I can see how it might make people like him less) he also seems to be the only one in authority with a clue. Somethings devastating our colonies on a straight path for Earth? Who was it that mobilized the fleets while everyone was still asking what do we do? Hackett. He also seems to know that he can't save everyone, but he does the best he can with the forces he has, and he seems to genuinley be upset by the fact he has to sacrifice the second fleet at the beginning, I don't know how well I can judge him as military leader (His thinking in using hit and run tactics on the Reapers seems to be sound though) but the fact that he's pretty much the only one left standing running the Systems Alliance and he manages to not only keep the remaining fleets as intact as possible, but he also oversees the construction of the crucible (The scene in which we see him looking at it's contruction made me think of Vader and the Emporer looking over the construction of the deathstar) makes me think the guy is even more badass. Lance Henriksens voice acting is what really sells the character for me though. Hackett's the man. Thoughts?

I found him weird in ME1 where he gives you some obscure missions. He came over like some guy past his prime who does weird stuff in his old age. But in ME3 he is awesome

Hated it when he made the Final speech to all the fleets. It should have been Shepard.

I am thrilled finally having my Shep answering directly to Hackett...I have hoped and waited for this since ME1...it's been a dream come true for me....I would also have to agree with everything you have said and I would go on to say in regards to your comments about his 'hit and run' tactics, from all appearences regarding the enormous strength of the Reapers, these are the only tactics really available to Hackett.

To me it made sense that Hackett would be the one to do this....Shep may have bought them all together, but Hackett is still his/her commanding officer....military protocol, etc...

I loved this about ME3, going back to military organization and protocol. ME2 really lacked that for me, and ME1 got played with the Spectre card more or less.

Hackett is also the fleet Admiral of the massive fleet heads to Earth. He's kind of like the Eisenhower of the Galactic War.

I liked Hackett's speech, and I understand him giving it, but I did wonder why there was no Shepard speech as well. Hacketts speech though seemed very Churchill.

True, but he didn't really get to say much to the massive fleet s/he assembled. But I guess that would just detract from Hackett's awesomness.

I found it weird enough that you get to them to open fire. Yeah, you assembled them, but you aren't in command.

What would have worked is maybe a meeting between between the different fleet commanders on the Normandy to go over the plan a last time. That way the conference room would have gotten another use too.

I'm surprised Hackett doesn't get more love on the forums.

Loved him since ME1. His side quests reminded me every time that I'm still an alliance soldier, and not just a spectre. And the voice acting is great, just by hearing him he demands respect: an officer with a lifetime of experience.

I'm glad we finally got to see his face in ME2 Arrival DLC and now even more in ME3.

I got chills when he boarded the Normandy, the crew saluting him, Shepard shaking his hands... and finally his speech.

Yes, his VA is superb, leaves me feeling in awe of the man...I thought BW did a fantastic job with his face too, it fits his persona perfectly and yep, I got the chills too when he boarded the Normandy....^_^

Good ol' Admiral Hackett. Retired Badass and one of the best. Seems to be a friend of Anderson and one of few supporters of Shepard.

Somehow I believe Hackett could even be a relative to Shepard. An Uncle? ^^

I agree with all of this.

I thought Hackett was a fantastic character since ME1. Considering you didn't actually see him speaks volumes about Henrikson's voice acting.

In Arrival and ME3, his character has only gotten better. Hackett looks exactly like I thought he should. Tough, battle-scarred, no-nonsense and distinguished.  He was easily one of my favorite characters in ME3.
