I kinda agree, even from a technical standpoint the ending is bad. Games have seen better cutscenes in the 90s (longer, more varied, not just recolors etc).

I love how because this person seems to genuinely enjoy the game AND the ending, he must either be a troll, a bioware plant, or too stupid to recognize various plotholes other people have found. That, and the active attempts to persuade him against liking the ending.

What happened to being civil? Is that only for people that share the majority opinion that everything about the games is 100% ****ty and that now the entire franchise is in ruins?

It's almost not worth coming to this forum anymore.

Well said. There is nothing wrong with coming away from the game feeling a sense of accomplishment or enjoyment. The guys at Penny Arcade actually have some interesting views on that. While I don't agree 100% they make for some interesting reading.

It took me a couple hours to realize how much I disliked it (not hated though, there were certain elements that were very well done). I'm guessing in a day you'll be pissed :D

Or maybe he just has a different standard of entertainment than you do. What gives you the right to determine whether or not that standard is 'low'?

The endings are so objectively bad, I personally find it hard to understand how anyone could possibly enjoy them.

Thats just me though, I guess some people like plot holes and sloppy writing.

Because you only have to think for about 3 seconds you realize the endings make no sense. Plenty of people just enjoy their entertainment, put no additional thought into it and move on. That's fine. But you REALLY DO have to have low standards or an uninquisitive mind to enjoy it. The ending is FACTUALLY bad. It ignores canon and logic.

I guess some people do. I didn't love the endings, but I also didn't find them so devastating that I must lash out at people who are more satisfied than I am.

I glad you feel complete knowing your Shepard was a coward who settled for less, those of us who don't will still have to wait for our endings.

How do you figure he was a coward? He set out to do the impossible, destroy the Reapers, and the did it. Against odds that have killed countless other species for countless years. He did it. He was brave enough to take on the biggest bully in the Galaxy, and he won.

Just finished my first run of ME3. I took some advice and did it with a default Shep. I choose to destroy the Reapers. Everything seemed to fit. Bioware crafted a wonderful Trilegy and when they were done telling their story I wasn't left wanting. Usually when I finish a series that I love as much as I love ME. I'm sad that the journey is over. With ME it's different. I loved everything about it. From the Mako to mounds of weapon and armor DLC's that I will never use. Everythign just felt right. This is a way to say, "Thank You." to the company that has now solitified itself, in my eyes, as the greatest videogame developers of all time. It was a Hell of a Run Bioware. I'm glad I was part of it. Mass Effect was beautiful.

EDIT:  Image IPB  No, this is not a Troll.  Image IPB

You are very lucky.

While I am among the folks who aren't happy with the final moments of the game, I agree with Sir_Alric that you're a lucky bloke. You got what you were after out of the game :)

I will disagree on the Mako though. That thing got stuck on so many rocks for me! *grumbles* haha

Me too, and see. It's funny now isn't it. I look back on how sh*tty the Mako was and I laugh fondly.

Your Shepard did as he was told by a genocidal maniac. You were offered 3 options and a ridiculous justification, and accepted them.
Make no mistake, destroy, control or synth. You did the Reapers' bidding. They determined their plan was no longer viable. They concluded a change. They did. Not Shepard.

Make no mistake, Shepard freed the Milky Way from the Reapers by his sacrifice, whichever way he did it.

Except, with Control, we have no guarantee Shep wont start thinking like the godchild over thousands of years, and just start the cycles all over again, and with Synthesis we have nothing stopping the new Synth/Organic hybrids from creating full synthetics, which would provide justification for the godchild to bring back the cycles.

Only Destroy truly frees the galaxy from the Reapers, at the expense of potentially making you a genocidal monster.

Except that in 2 out of the 3 endings the Reapers aren't dead, and in the third, there's no guarantee ALL the reapers are dead. I mean, Reapers come from dark space, outside of the Milky Way, the explosion was only inside it.

Also, in all 3 endings organics (or organic-synthetics) can just create synthetics again. And... of course, all the mass relay destruction.

Permanently with Destroy, perhaps only temporarily with Synthesis and Control.

Regardless, destroying the Mass Relays either dooms pretty much everyone to slow and painful deaths through starvation and infighting, or dooms them to immediate incineration by supernova, depending on whether you agree with Arrival or not.
