lol ok so figured out my problem.. The EA Support Guy was sorta right, ONE of the codes I entered went through even though it said failure, it went on my main account, this was my CE code. My pre-order code also went through even though it said it failed but it applied on my OTHER account which I don't even know how it got created.

I'm assuming it was during the login/account creation issues with the site when it asked you to create your account then said that e-mail address was already in use.. must have created another account by accident and then applied the code to that one!

So now my problem is getting that secondary useless account deleted and moving my pre-order DLC to my main account. I've verified that the pre-order DLC from steam is indeed attached to this second account by downloading the content ingame and it says its authorized, but then when I log into my main account it says unauthorized (oddly enough one of the rings is authorized and one is unauthorized.. nevertheless..). I hope to god this issue can be resolved and I am going to call back EA Support tomorrow and explain the whole situation.

P.S. (For Steam versions)  FOR SOME REASON THE FORUMS IS DOUBLING UP MY "\\", MAKE SURE YOU ONLY USE ONE "\\"

If this is the same issue you are having, check your services and see if "Dragon Age: Origins Updater" is installed and running. To do this go to "Control Panel> Administrative Tools> Services"

If the service is not installed run this command in a CMD window, to do this..
Hit Windows Key+R
Type CMD
Hit Enter

---Copy this if running 64bit windows: %WINDIR%\\Microsoft.NET\\Framework\\v2.0.50727\\installutil.exe "C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Steam\\steamapps\\common\\dragon age origins\\bin_ship\\daupdatersvc.service.exe"

---Copy this if running 32bit windows:
%WINDIR%\\Microsoft.NET\\Framework\\v2.0.50727\\installutil.exe "C:\\Program
Files\\Steam\\steamapps\\common\\dragon age
origins\\bin_ship\\daupdatersvc.service.exe"

Right click in the CMD window
Select Paste
Hit Enter

Then close the services window and open it back up, look for "Dragon Age: Origins Updater" and right click it, select "Start". Now that the service is running, start Dragon Age and login, you should now be downloading your DLC.

I have to say that Nebbs you are the man!!!!

I ordered through Impulse, but I've been having the same problem and couldn't get the DLC to download whatsoever.

The updater wasn't running, so I followed your directions and got it installed. I went into the game and still nothing. I left the DLC area, went to the main menu and then went back into the DLC and poof!!!! its downloading as we speak.

Thanks again!!!!

This is such utter garbage. None of the DLC works. The in game redeemed codes seemed to work then I went away from the DLC page to make sure I was logged in with the right profile (so that the code redeemed on this site would work) and now when I go back to the DLC screen, they're gone. The code redeemed on this site says it was successful, but doesn't show up. This is ridiculous.

PS3 Collector's Edition BTW. Jeezus do I feel like a sucker for picking up the CE now.

Ok nevermind. for some reason, I had to completely quit out of the game and start it again and it looks like its there now. Still pretty crappy implementation.

I kept having this annoying problem as well; i.e. redemption of codes was successful, game CD key is registered to this account and character/achievement updates are working - and yet no Downloadable Content appears in the menu to even begin download.

So I looked at the log file in my documents\\bioware etc

General    Initialize - Online Features
OnlineFeatures    LoadOffers() : Unable to read file 'C:\\Documents and Settings\\(comupter name:P)\\My Documents\\BioWare\\Dragon Age\\Settings\\offers.xml'!
DA Download Manager (DADM)    Service was started!
General    Initialize - Initialization Complete
DA Download Manager (DADM)    Attempting to connect to DADM Control Server!
DA Download Manager (DADM)    StartService failed (1053)
DA Download Manager (DADM)    Could not connect to DADM Control Server!
DA Download Manager (DADM)    Restarting DADM HeartBeat!
DA Download Manager (DADM)    StartService failed (1053)
OnlineFeatures    Wallet balance requested.
OnlineFeatures    Login successful.
OnlineFeatures    Wallet balance requested.
OnlineFeatures    Wallet balance received (0).
OnlineFeatures    Wallet balance received (0).

Anyone think this is relevant?
I think I've tried to manually start the DAupdater or something but that doesn't seem to work.

You, good sir, are my hero!  It finally works...just had to update .NET and then start the service and bingo!  I wish you all the ladies you can handle in your life time ^_^

*EDIT*  I am using Deluxe Pre-order Steam version so if any of you still have the issue with this specific version, try his fix!
Thanks again!

Nebbs, you are my hero. I feel like a tool for how many times I tried your fix, before I looked at it, and realized it was for the steam version, and didn't work because my updater service was in another folder. :) But, once I sorted that out, I got everything running like it should. Downloading now. Man, that is a burden off my chest.

Still a little sad that another player had to fix my game... But, whatever. It works now.

Registering here also creates an EA account, unless you choose the option of re-using an existing EA account during registration (and I'm guessing you didn't). Whichever e-mail is associated to this account (Profile -> Edit Profile Information) should allow you to login from within the game.

Wow I feel dumb. I guess I had an EA account (the one i was using ingame) and a Bioware account(the one i mistakenly redeemed my codes to!). Gosh if only I had read this sooner.

ZOMG updating my .NET worked, downloading all DLC now thanyou you beautiful bastards you!

I had recently made a clean install of windows just for DA: O but this meant that I had missed on updating my .NET files (and hence trying to start the DA: O update in the Admin>Services files wouldn't work).

If you guys check you DA:O gamelog in my documents/bioware try find error codes like:

DA Download Manager (DADM) Attempting to connect to DADM Control Server!
DA Download Manager (DADM) StartService failed (1053)
DA Download Manager (DADM) Could not connect to DADM Control Server!
DA Download Manager (DADM) Restarting DADM HeartBeat!
DA Download Manager (DADM) StartService failed (1053)

That 1053 code means you probably should update .NET

JUST GOT MY DLC DOWNLOADED AND INSTALLED WOOHOO: (after hours and hours of frustration - I basically did what many people also did: registered my promo codes on the site before registering account in-game &  logging in)

The good folks at Stardock Impulse just figured it out a few hrs ago, apparently the DAUpdaterService was not installed properly with the game. Basically here's a quick fix until a patch comes out - it uses Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 to install the updaterservice.

First you have to get the the installutli.exe from the
C:\\\\Windows\\\\Microsoft.NET\\\\Framework\\\\v2.0.50727 directory and copy it into your dragon age \\\\ bin_ship folder. Then:

"Download this file to your dragon age\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\bin_ship folder:

http://stardock.cach...mba/service.cmd"

and then run the service.cmd

Mine isn't working either. I pre-ordered from direct2drive the special version that gets you the rings, stone golem, everything. When I registered, the game downloaded the rings. However, when I put in the special code for the golem, the social website said the code was accepted, but the game did not add the golem content, nor did it download it. Its been 8 hours now. Trying to use the code again did not work.

I have Windows 7 64 bit and even with the latest .net framework I get errors when installing the service. On the other hand, I found another error in the Dragon Age log: just before attempting to connect to the server it says it cannot open the file

...\\Documents\\BioWare\\Dragon Age\\Settings\\offers.xml

Indeed no such file is there. Also, my service error is not 1053 but 1060:

DA Download Manager (DADM) Service was started!

DA Download Manager (DADM) OpenService failed (1060)

I know it's still within 24 hours, but tried emailing Contact Us. Now I'm in queue for live chat with agents. I cannot get this site to register the game no matter what I do for the Collector's Edition Xbox 360. I was able to redeem the codes, but not register the game. This is extremely frustrating and hopefully can be solved today.
