I'm playing my second playthrough, my female renegade Shepard.  All my characters go back to ME1, so I've had this character for...almost 4 years.  I romanced Kaidan in ME1, and even though he was Carth 2.0, he was still endearing....and also the only non lesbian romance option.

ME2 was a weird encounter with him, but I figured they were just setting him up better for ME3.

Now...in ME3....this dude is the whiniest, and most annoying character I've ever seen.  I walked in on him in the Starboard View room, after the Cerberus Coup attempt, and he was sniffling.  His voice actor NAILS the character...but the character is a real chore for me to sit through.  Maybe because i'm a guy, and I'M not like that.  Is there any guy on Earth who is this ultra-sensitive and whiny?  Anyone else have this problem with him?  For those who like him, why do you like him?

I'll bite; the character was voiced perfectly, and seemed to have a good deal of depth to him.  Despite that...I just don't LIKE him that much.

Kaidan annoyed me too. Seriously, I've been jailed and examined by the Alliance for six months, Anderson trusts me, Hackett trusts me, Garrus/Joker/Chakwas/Vega etc. and dude is still going on about being a Cerberus drone?

I fully agree Raphael Sbarge is pretty darn awesome as his voice actor.

I really liked Kaidan, I thought the romance between him and female shepard was really great. I liked the scenes while he was in the hospital. I am a pretty sensitive whiny guy so maybe thats why I like him.

Never liked Kaiden. He was whiny and bland. Killing him was a high point for me.

Kaiden's always been whiny, he only lived because Ashley annoyed me more.

I don't like him because he's basically Carth from KOTOR.

At least Ashley have background information that explains her trust issues and xenophobia.

I think another part of the problem is that Jennifer Hale plays Shepard, even Paragon Shepard, as a very die hard bad ass soldier type. She doesn't really seem the type to go for uber-senstive men. When it was alluded to that Vega was hitting on me, I totally wanted to get with him instead! He's the kind of man I picture her with. Or Garrus. But that is another Shepard for another playthrough.

My maleShep was with Liara since ME1, no cheats, no exceptions.
Then all of a sudden, Kaiden starts hitting on me in the Apollo cafe? Awkward moment, that!
But I thought it fit well to Kaiden, he always struck me a bit of an awkward guy.

Whiny? About his father being missing in action? Do you consider Garrus whiny when he talks about not hearing from his sister and father :/

Can't stand Kaidan. But then he never made it off Virmire in my games. His character just made me not like him in ME. Ashley wasn't great either, but she was more likable to me so it was a no brainer who was being left behind.

I don't think Kaidan was whiny in ME3...not sure where you got that.

Unless you count, you know, actually talking about your problems as "whiny"...

And if it's about Kaidan having issues trusting Shepard....of course he would have trouble trusting him, after working with a TERRORIST group that mercilessly slaughters/experiments on everyone including humans. 2 years and 6 months is a long time.

I know I wouldn't be able to just "let it go" either...

Seriously Shepard was missing for HOW long and in the hands of an enemy they have faught many many times. An enemy that has done some pretty horredous acts against humanity and other species. I would have been MORE worried about Kaidan if that -didn't- concern him.
