I don't like him because he's basically Carth from KOTOR.

"I've been betrayed before! How do I know you're still not working for Cerberus (Sith)! I can't trust anyone ever again!! RAWRAWRWARAWR"

At least Ashley have background information that explains her trust issues and xenophobia.

When he started up with that on Mars I wanted to poke a hole in his faceplate.  Then someone did and I felt bad. :pinched:

I like Kaidan. He's my favorite character because he just seems like a nice guy with a lot of integrity. But, I can understand people finding him whiny. I feel like he gets over it, though.

Kaidan was my bro. Not Garrus-level, but still cool enough.

Whiny? About his father being missing in action? Do you consider Garrus whiny when he talks about not hearing from his sister and father :/

Whiny to me isn't about what a person says, but how he says it.  Garrus certainly didn't cry when he mentioned his family.  Even Jack in ME2, when she DID cry during the romance, was more masculine than Kaidan.

Let me just say, that if a man doesn't show some emotion at the prospect of losing his family, he's a disgusting monster that ought to be killed...no better than The Illusive Man. Might as well be a husk.

Strange... I never noticed him being whiny. And I would notice something like that. I always thought Ash was the annoying one.

I wish I could have saved both Kaiden and Ashley in ME1. It was sad to see him die.
Maybe I'll save him in my second play through of Mass Effect, if I ever get around to actually do that.

I thought the entire point of the the two human in ME1 was to show you how awesome Liara was/is by comparison.

Kaiden's never survived to ME2 on any of my playthroughs and I'm pleased as punch I finally got to shoot Ash in ME3. Then again, I'm a dude so I have no tingly feelings in my nether regions for Kaiden and Ash wasn't really trying to work it until ME3, but by then it was too late. I'd already heard her talk by then.

I loved Kaiden, just seemed like a nice guy. Ashley always annoyed the hell out of me though.

I don't think Kaidan was whiny in ME3...not sure where you got that.

Unless you count, you know, actually talking about your problems as "whiny"...

And if it's about Kaidan having issues trusting Shepard....of course he would have trouble trusting him, after working with a TERRORIST group that mercilessly slaughters/experiments on everyone including humans. 2 years and 6 months is a long time.

I know I wouldn't be able to just "let it go" either...

This.

He has reasons for mistrusting Shepard as well in his background. I thought he was extremely well written in ME3 (way better than Ash, which kind of disappointed me because she was one of my favorite characters as well).

I had the same feeling as OP. God he was whiny. I may play the game over again just so I can shoot him.

I loved Kaidan, definitely one of my faorite characters in the trilogy. I was going to make a save where Ashley would be alive in ME3 but...i've seen what she looks like in game and it sort of gets a 'wat' reaction out of me.

Actually I find Kaiden to be far more trusting than Ashley. Compare the hospital scenes with a shep who cheated on kaiden and a shep who cheated on Ash. He was a lot more understanding and mature by my dialogue options and acknowledges his mistake in not trusting in Shep pretty early on. His romance is very sweet and his final goodbye is incredibly restrained for someone ostensibly so whiny.

<3 Garrus too though, that dude is awesome.

<3 Kaidan and Raphael Sbarge. I thought he was awesome. I play a renegade femshep and telling him he's wrong about his mistrust in a brutish way was cool. He gets the picture, never saw him as whiny.

Carth Ona...Kaiden is creepy as hell. I posted this before but seriously AM I THE ONLY ONE?

I mean the way he talks about the "Quickening" made me search the ship for bodies for 20 minutes.

His dad is probably dead. He's not allowed to be slightly emotional about that? It's not like he's curled in a ball crying. He has a legitimate reason to be upset. If I had a friend whose dad just died and he was a bit teary, I wouldn't tell him to suck it up and be a man.

I much preferred Carth to Ashley. She annoys the hell out of me, and she wants to kill Wrex so that makes me dislike her even more >:(

And: "OH NOES MY HEAD HURTS! ALL THE TIME!"

Yeah, Kaiden was a tool. Carth > Kaiden.

But he wouldnt have made it anyway, as Ashley was my favorite crewmate.

I thought Garrus was a pansy in the first game, but he got over it an manned up. I hated his "Is it ethical to kill bad guys to save innocent people?" Im like, is that a serious question? Shoot the sucker. By the 3rd game? Total Badass, thats all me.

When does he say that? Ever? People always complain about this but I've never heard him say anything remotely close to that quote.

Kaidan rocks.

In fact, the new writers really nailed Garrus, Liara, and Kaidan. They all turned out perfectly.
