Whiny? About his father being missing in action? Do you consider Garrus whiny when he talks about not hearing from his sister and father :/

Whiny to me isn't about what a person says, but how he says it.  Garrus certainly didn't cry when he mentioned his family.  Even Jack in ME2, when she DID cry during the romance, was more masculine than Kaidan.

And: "OH NOES MY HEAD HURTS! ALL THE TIME!"

Yeah, Kaiden was a tool. Carth > Kaiden.

But he wouldnt have made it anyway, as Ashley was my favorite crewmate.

I thought Garrus was a pansy in the first game, but he got over it an manned up. I hated his "Is it ethical to kill bad guys to save innocent people?" Im like, is that a serious question? Shoot the sucker. By the 3rd game? Total Badass, thats all me.

When does he say that? Ever? People always complain about this but I've never heard him say anything remotely close to that quote.

Did you somehow get different dialogue then me? Shoot, even his generic animation is him acting like he has a headache and is bothered by the bright lights. Its just wimpy. And then he whines about his academy and everything. Im like, ever here my backstory? Yeah, my entire family was killed by raiders, every last one. I just manned up and fought back. Then? I became a war hero as my peers died around me. Stop whining.

Kaidan rocks.

In fact, the new writers really nailed Garrus, Liara, and Kaidan. They all turned out perfectly.

Agreed. I really enjoyed the friendship scenes with Garrus and Liara; they were extremely well-written.

Kaiden is totally the Yamcha of the Mass Effect universe... That guy is a jobbber! And to make matters worse, the bastard can even turn gay in ME3! Yiakes!

I don't think Kaidan was whiny in ME3...not sure where you got that.

Unless you count, you know, actually talking about your problems as "whiny"...

And if it's about Kaidan having issues trusting Shepard....of course he would have trouble trusting him, after working with a TERRORIST group that mercilessly slaughters/experiments on everyone including humans. 2 years and 6 months is a long time.

I know I wouldn't be able to just "let it go" either...

Kaidan's lets it go  quicker then Ashley

Agreed here too. Kaidan and Garrus were always my buds. Liara is cool too, but Garrus and Kaidan were always my BroShep's main questin' partners in ME1 and 3 (ME2 it was Garrus and Miranda).

Alot of exarggeration in this Topic.

Kaidan says he only has mild headaches... and he barely complains about it. So I think some of your are adding your spin to what happen

I think it's mostly blind Carth hate... The cure for such is Scrotch love!

Kaidan doesn't have Trust issue... In ME1 most people seem to be annoyed that unlike 80% of your crew Kaidan is trying to be supportive of you... instead of asking you for favors -I'm the HERO, Your world Revolves around me dammit!- soooo

on the Cerberus thing... Kaidan gets over it much quicker then ashley... and the only reason he doesn't is Your acting like a shady stubborn ass

I'm playing my second playthrough, my female renegade Shepard.  All my characters go back to ME1, so I've had this character for...almost 4 years.  I romanced Kaidan in ME1, and even though he was Carth 2.0, he was still endearing....and also the only non lesbian romance option.

ME2 was a weird encounter with him, but I figured they were just setting him up better for ME3.

Now...in ME3....this dude is the whiniest, and most annoying character I've ever seen.  I walked in on him in the Starboard View room, after the Cerberus Coup attempt, and he was sniffling.  His voice actor NAILS the character...but the character is a real chore for me to sit through.  Maybe because i'm a guy, and I'M not like that.  Is there any guy on Earth who is this ultra-sensitive and whiny?  Anyone else have this problem with him?  For those who like him, why do you like him?

I don't find him whiny so much as a non entity.  He has the personality and presence of a cardboard box.

I think you summed up Kaiden pretty well actually, OP. I played ME1 and 2 days before release of ME3 and I kept Kaiden alive because I thought he'd make a better teammate in ME3 and because I hate Ashley's character, but it turned out that by the time I was able to include him in my team again from his accident I just couldn't add him in because of his personality.

He is ok, I prefer Ash though but both of them need to get over the whole Shepard was with cerberus thing. I was nice to them about in my first couple of playthroughs just to see how things would turn out but they never really do seem to get over their trust issues that much. I will take Ash with me when I take out cerberus headquarters in my current playthrough (she is the LI in current playthrough) just to see what she says when I watch those recordings but my next few playthroughs I am going to give as good as I get.

I did an extremely trollish thing with Kaiden in ME1 with my femshep. Romanced him then left him on Virmire. He thought he was gonna get some. HE DIDN'T GET A THING! :D

I LOVE KAIDAN! Carth was SUPER whiny in my opinion, I wanted to punch him in the face after a while.

Kaidan is straight up testosterone and manliness in comparison, in my opinion. HOWEVER, even though I still loved Kaidan in ME3 he was a little more emo/dramatic than in ME1, just a little.

No, I never got any of that dialogue besides maybe a brief mention at the beginning of ME1. He never says a thing about it in ME3. And I didn't know telling a story about your life was now considered whining. He's attempting to give you advice and conversing with you. Ashley talks about being overlooked by the Alliance because of her family history. Is she considered whiny, too?

Oh and you just told me your backstory. I guess I can consider that whining too. 'My backstory is harder than your backstory' doesn't give you the right to look down on people.

I liked Kaidan from the start because he seemed to be the yin to my FemShep's yang. Paragon but nowhere near totally, with plenty of Renegade choices and cussing at the Council thrown in. She needed someone to remind her that tossing the Council and Udina out an airlock after they grounded the Normandy wasn't the greatest idea ;) Soo happy I got to watch that backstabbing slimy politician die :)

Loved the way they wrote him in ME3 - still wary (hated Horizon but completely understandable once you think about where the VS is coming from), but still so obviously in love with FemShep (if previously romanced) that getting him to come around was easy. And the VA nailed nearly every line, from confident to caring to vulnerable. Sigh. The thought of breaking his heart by not coming back to him is one of the reasons I can't bear to play through those craptastic endings a second time...

I love Kaidan. He may have issues at the beginning of the game but he quickly gets over them and if you play paragon he even shoots Udina based on your word alone. After that he never doubts you again and is the best friend you could ask for.
