on xbox: Attack, 2 secs later "Pause", heal potion, again attack, then 2secs later again heal potion...Pause, potion, attack...and vica verca...till the end. maybe 30 or 40 potions, I didnt count them. my team mates went poof very early at this dragon. it was more a stuttering movie than a fight :)

next time Im using a shortcut for potions ;)

Alistair tanking in improved drakescale, Wynne healing, Leliana doing that bow thing, and my mage CoC and hexing. Wynne needed a few more lyrium pots than I wanted her to use--think I need to adjust her tactics...

On hard:oldschool tank and spank. Alistair tanking in the Warden Commander armor, Sten being knocked down 90% of the time, Morrigan zapping and offhealing a bit, PC healing and zapping even less. Took me some time but it died after 1 reload when I was not ready for the grab and chew.

Ali died once in the successful fight but a quick revive while Sten got lucky on not being torched saved the day.

Was difficult first couple of times I wiped because I had run out of potions...finally I decided to approach it properly and gave Alistair a fire resist potion sent him in to build up some aggro all by himself with Wynne healing him then after about 30-45 seconds had Leilani and Myself start DPS'ing and it worked like a charm. Dragon stayed agro on Alistair the whole time. I think Alistair ended up dying when the dragon was down to very few HP left because Wynne ran out of mana to heal but by that time it only took a few more hits to finish it off so was NP.

Used same strat for Flemeth, just let Alistar build up some agro, make sure he faces the dragon away from your party and make sure any melee dps attacks the dragon from behind and it's easy as pie.

I did it at lvl 14 on hard without that much problems. Alistair in full juggernaut with a lesser warmth balm and heroic defense don't take that much damage. I kept regen on him and that was pretty much enough (think I might have chugged a couple of lesser health poultices as well, but not that many).

I refused to use my PC dagger rogue as a ranged gimp so I had to heal him quite a lot during the fight though. But that wasn't really tricky, he would run up to the flank of the dragon and get in a couple of backstabs (but quite a lot of damage) get knocked back and lose about half health. Heal him up and then into position again.

Used Wynne as healer (used 3-4 lesser lyrium pots) and Leliana as ranged damager (in Aim mode with the damage song active).

I equipped Shale with flawless fire crystals and small flawless nature crystals (health regen).

My party died in the first 30 seconds, but shale kept pounding away - on stoneheart and took 5 minutes and 3 potions to kill the dragon - I think this may have been a miscalculation as the dragon never twigged that Shale wasn't being wounded by fire making it all a bit easy (even on 'hard' difficulty).

First time in Hard diff, with common mage, archer, tank and my 2 handed party... and Alistair stole my kill!

This time in NM, I chose to dismiss any mages from my party and went there with Alistair, Sten, my 2 handed (I love him) and Leliana who I won't let out of my sight while Zev is around!

I figure I'll add mine to the lot, alongside a list of DO's and DONT's

- DO interrupt Grab. CoC is the most consistent method, though pummel and the like will work from time to time (I use a mixture of the two in that vid).

- DO buff up if you can, as it'll help an insane amount, especially spells like Heroic Defence which increase both defence AND resistances.

- DO use knockdown/stun immunity/high physical resistance if you can. 2-handers > Shields > high PR others, in that order (all with the appropriate talents).

- DONT position your healer too far away from the tank. Having them run within range before a heal can be the difference between succeeding and wiping.

- DONT "wait 30-45 seconds for the tank to get aggro", as taunt + threaten is more than you'll ever need :D The longer you wait, the longer the fight, the more mana/pots you're wasting trying to heal people. WoW this is not...

- DONT bunch your characters together
 > Melee will eat arced swipes and massive attacks all day if they're sitting on top of each other. The more angles you attack     from, the less knockbacks any one character is taking.
 > Ranged open themselves up to taking unnecessary aoe damage from fire balls.

- DONT stand squishy melee in the dragon's frontal arc unless you don't mind them being grabbed.

Another important point. As a warrior especially, try not to spend half the fight watching sustained ability animations. Since they activate towards the start of the animation, just cancel the animation by quickly stepping forwards and continuing to attack.

Yeah, Shale is a pretty darn good tank for all the "big" dragons all..3 of them in the game.

Three!?  Where is the third?  I killed the High Dragon and the Archdemon, but a third heh?

I found that the High Dragon on the mountaintop doesn't like to go into the area beside the ruins, on the side closer to its ledge.  Ranged can stick there and not get much of anything while DPS and tanks can run her through.

Flemeth shapeshifts into a dragon during Morrigans personal quest to kill her.

For the high dragon, look around the battlefield for places a dragon won't fit and place your characters there (There's the sides of the circle of ruins, between the pond and the cliff side next to the ruins and the arch on the path leading to the caverns). Give them all ranged weapons. Now call the dragon, and attack it with ranged weapons. I had Morrigan cast vulnerability hex which really draws its aggro, use a greater warmth balm and spam drain life whenever she could. The dragon just kept using fire spit on her the whole fight. I had to hide her behind a column since the dragon has a buffet attack that's basically a Revenant's pull ability. The only items I had to use were the balm and a lesser lyrium potion. It's a really easy fight with ranged weapon.

I'd add:

- DON'T position melee directly behind the dragon.  Ideally you want melee flanking the dragon from just inside the flanking angle stabbing toward the back leg.  If melee is directly behind the dragon they're going to eat a lot of kicks and require extra healing.  If a group has two DPS melee one on each side works best.

I had Sten with Yusaris and tanking, my PC was doing melee DPS, I had Leliana at range with her bow, and Wynne being my heal bot.

It went pretty well actually, although she once randomly switched from Sten to Lelianna and ripped her to shreds, but I managed to get her attention back to Sten and revive Leliana. The things went pretty well.

I'd say the real trick was paralysis runes I had equipped, along with Wade's Drake Scale armors. Fire resistance, being able to pump out specials, and getting her to pause briefly was a great help.

Myself as a 2-Hand warrior, Allistar sharing the threat, Wynne Healing and Leliana range DPS.

a 2Hand warrior using Indomitable is surprisingly strong when you work on their strength. My party used no cheap tactics, just rush and bash, and whenever the dragon focuses on the player I'm controlling, usually my PC, I just walk around a bit to not be directly in front of it to prevent it from picking me up and throwing me around like a dog with a rag-doll.

Cost enough Health Poultices, probably 10 common ones, but that final blow with a 2-hander for the first time seen made it so worth it. Party was probably level 12 on normal.

Tank and spank in nightmare with my dex/leather tank.
Nukes and debuffs via morrian. No cone of cold yet I was focusing on aoe CC. My guy could stand up to bosses just fine but not swarms of enemies at the time.
Sten with a big ol' two hander and stuns to get my main out of the dragons mouth.
Zevren with some daggers, momentum, and poison so I could ignore him except for heals.

Only needed lesser health poultices to keep everyone alive.

3 mages, 2 with cone of cold (pre-1.02) and one with misdirection hex. Lots of fire resistance on the tank (Shale iirc). Wynne placed far back, and the cone of cold casters on opposite flanks.

That was around level 15 or so. Earlier in the game I couldn't do it, playing on hard.
