somehow, I cant beat the archdemon. I know, not technical, but it is very annoying, and even switching down to casual didn't cut it. My squad is me, dwarven warrior, 2handed, morrigan dog and loghain.

help!

Is Morrigan specced for healing, or are you trying this without a healer entirely?

If so, that would be your problem.

Only use the catapults or whatever those giant crossbow looking things are. It makes it RIDICULOUSLY easy, since it gets trapped in its recoil animation and can't attack you while in it. Just keep launching the arrows as soon as they're available and you're good to go.

yes once you group around the ballista they are great and I left the rest of the party to guard the stairway up incase of darkspawn. but if it jams........only a rogue can unjam it.

Bring Leliana or Zevran for the unjamming then.

Seriously, with the Ballista's, you'll hardly get hit. It's ridiculously easy.

If you're out of healing items then you're out of luck. Before going to Redcliffe after the landsmeet, go to the Dalish camp and buy as many elfroots as you can. Sandal has all the items you need to make all the healing items you want.

the best way to beat demon is to bring a ranged character thats a must rouge even better and get the mages in your fight and elfs as back up if mages die. when the demon goes out of range use the ballista things if it breaks fix it using rouge if can't be fix just send arrows for him from te platform where hell will go when nearly dead or use winter grasp on him and set one of your team member to attack the darkspawn interfering with you using arrows/spells on it.

The archdemon goes to four spots for me. The first and third I use my group, the second and fourth I use the cats. Also use your allies, if you have the golems save them for the last battle.

You're screwed......there's nothing you can do except load an old save or start a new game. Seriously you should know better than to try and take on the final boss without health potions.....that's like holy scripture to the RPG gamers...just like saving often and keeping multiple saves at different spots throughout the gmae.

Yeah, never leave home without an entire stock of potions. You just never know...

Why the hell is this posted in technical? User error is not technical.

Like they've said - just turn difficulty to minimum and spam the ballistas, it's lame, but in your scenario the best way.

You can try my method. I must have tried it over 30 times on hard until I switched up my tactics for the win. The ballistas are unnecessary but patience is crucial.

Go to the highest ballista and attack the dragon at range with your mages. Use their basic staff attacks. The dragon will initially start out in the middle so you'll need to lure him up there. Once his health is halfway down, he will fly away into range of the ballista. IMMEDIATELY make sure that your party is grouped up around the ballista. Otherwise you'll be overwhelmed by darkspawn.

Attack the dragon until the ballista breaks and then go back to hitting the dragon with basic staff attacks. Since you're beyond the field of view for the darkspawn, you should only be attacked by spirit damage from the dragon breath. Use spirit balm. Another useful bit of protection against damage is a helmet you receive from one of the darkspawn generals. It provides 75% spirit resistance.

When the dragon gets closer again, keep using mage staff attacks and heal the party with a spirit healer. You can send your warriors out to attack the dragon as long as you don't stray so far out that you alert the darkspawn. This strategy will take about 10 min or more but it's foolproof as long as you manage your party properly.

Hex spells can be very useful against the dragon for helping your warriors chip its health down faster.
