"BioWare has outright stated they don’t get interference from the higherups of the company." - http://igxpro.net/20...or-tali/1315018
This means Mass Effect 3's mistakes are primarily on your shoulders, Ray Muzyka and Greg Zeschuk.
"The current games that we build – like Mass Effect and Dragon Age and Star Wars: The Old Republic – they have a really direct and obvious lineage to the games we’ve made before. Every time we make a game, we improve it slightly." - Greg Zeschuk
"It’s always about striving to innovate and improve and deliver quality for our fans. Hopefully, they will agree that our next games are even better than the great ones we have in development now, and we’re excited about that." - Ray Muzyka
"Everyone fails. Everyone falls down. Everyone loses a game or gets a bad grade … When it happens, fail well." - John Riccitiello, EA CEO
"In recent months EA's CEO, John Riccitiello, has talked of adjusting Mass Effect 3 to "address a much larger market opportunity" than that presented by previous Mass Effects."

Speculation: (my wife gets full credit for this one): Did you utterly destroy a satisfactory ending for ME 3 for the sake of setting up a post-Reaper battle MMO? "Find out what happened to all of your favorite characters in the shiny new ME MMO! Help the Turians, Krogans, Asari and other races struggle in vain to get back to their homeworlds! ... just $90 for the CE plus $15/month!!!"
...I hope to God that is not what you're planning.
Strike 1: From Ashes DLC.
- $10 extra for critical lore which changes the entire complexion of the game
- If you DO buy it, you can't load savegames featuring it unless you're connected to the Internet. If you're like me and your Internet connection is spotty, sucks to be you.
Strike 2: The Ending. (this is probably enough for three strikes by itself, but I digress)
The only endgame I can recall sucking nearly as bad as ME 3's is Neverwinter Nights 2, where the end dungeon is ridiculously hard and after you defeat the end bosses, almost everyone in your party dies anyway, completely out of your control... just because the game designer needed to get his sadistic jollies out of ruining everyone's game experience (which up until then had been pretty damned good.) ME 3 was Deja vu - I spent hundreds of hours bringing up SIX different characters through ME 1 and 2, only to find that none of my decisions for any of them mattered AT ALL. Apparently, the ME universe is run by a sadistic psychopath god in the machine little boy who arrogantly assumes recurring, hellish, terrifying, horrific death and piles of dead loved ones every 50,000 years by the hand of AI machines is preferable to AI machines rising up and killing their masters... oh, wait... huh? You mean like the Geth killing the Quarians? ...Wait, they are living in peace now. Oh, you mean like EDI ...wait, not like that either. ...and... how come Joker was travelling FTL to some other place when Shepard makes his nihilist sacrifice? Deriliction of duty? Really? And when did Tali beam up to the ship before this happened? ARE YOU HIGH??
Strike 3: Greg's statements about improvement, Ray's statements about quality, and John Riccitiello's comments about f'n up are all relevant for strike number three: Tali's face is a barely doctored public domain photo.
http://igxpro.net/20...or-tali/1315018
Tali's face is something special. You could have paid a high-end professional artist for a week's worth of work to create something original and special, but you didn't. You have treated it (and us) with complete disrespect and contempt.
Ray and Greg: you guys have fallen so, so far from where you were with Baldur's Gate.
John: You improved things quite a bit in the last few years when you took the helm of EA... especially for the folks working mandatory (100 hr/wk: http://ea-spouse.liv...al.com/274.html) slave labor hours, but it looks like things are getting out of hand again because folks are cutting corners, presumably due to overwork and unrealistic deadlines.
Having said all the above, there's more troubling evidence outside of ME 3 which I didn't want to dwell on, but the poor quality of ME 3's ending and the cynical nature of the Tali treatment and DLC forces my hand: DA II SUCKED compared to DA; the relevance of this combined with the above ME 3 items means:
I NO LONGER TRUST BIOWARE/EA AT ALL... YOU WILL GET NO MORE MONEY FROM ME UNLESS AND UNTIL YOU REMEDY YOUR SUBPAR AREAS... BETHESDA IS KICKING YOUR A** TEN WAYS FROM SUNDAY IN THE RPG DEPARTMENT.
Final note:
This kind of Cerberus behavior just ices the cake:
http://news.cnet.com...-9892937-7.html (EA goes hostile for Take-Two [hostile takeover attempt])
This happened shortly after you took the helm too, John... don't be the illusive man - it ends badly.
