They are humouring the fans who want the ending changed. I bet the individual was just relaying what they had heard.

I don't think anybody is casting him down for posting the truth...if it is in fact the truth....and I also don't think its malicious to say that Bioware lied either....because if what he posted on Facebook is true, than Bioware absolutely lied to the fans leading up to the release...if the Facebook post is true, then the fact that Bioware "LIED" is also effectively true

They said your CHOICES matter to which end you get. Yet, no matter what choices(plural) you make throughout the course of the game/series, you get the same ending.
That is what I would call a: Lie

Now, if they said your CHOICE(singular) mattered to what end you would get, this would essentially be what is called a: Half-Truth
The singular CHOICE of Control/Synthesis/Destroy, does in fact decide what Ending Scene you will get....the is generally true....

However, no matter what CHOICE you make at the end, everybody you cared for, and every species you fought to save/unite, will die and become extinct sooner or later....this results in the Reapers completing their goal no matter what your choice is. The cycle ends.

Your choices dont have any bearing on the outcome if it is a "no-win" situation and there is but one definitive result: Extinction

People don't just have problems with the "illusion of choice". The plotholes are so bad in the last 15 minutes its insane....

Everything above ONLY APPLIES: if the Facebook post was true and if this is the true end....

HOWEVER, if Shep was in fact unconscious or even alive(why else would the last scene be Shep breathing?), and there is more to the ending that was already planned and created, and for whatever reason they are waiting to announce it: then THEY DID NOT LIE

Yeah...

As of now, I beleive that this Facebook comment is more likely to be true than what Jessica is telling us.

If you don't plan to change the endings, just man up (BioWare, not Jessica) and tell us so. Thinking we could fall for : "We're listening" then "We beleive many people are sufficiently happy" is extremely insulting to us. Just thinking we would fall for that obvious move is ridiculous and just adds insult to injury.

I don't trust a word they say in regards to everything. It's a safe tactic, doesn't let me get that false hope they've tried to feed us.

We should stay constructive and keep the pressure up but never ever trust them on their declarations...

The internet never forgets, and right now things are at their darkest for you Bioware. EA may or may not care what happens to your company, but actually taking action here is the best solution. Not promises.

I am honestly hoping that this was part of the plan of misdirection which has just gone terribly wrong. Frankly though, even if it was, we will not believe you. So it may be that you can cut your losses and lose a large number or fans, or claw the win. Whatever the case, perhaps these tactics of bait and switch (with comments and silence) are evidently not working.

Humble suggestion: Charge for MP DLC. The multi is immensely fun. New maps, new races, new powers, talents, personalisations could bring much bank.

HOWEVER, you should probably make the SP DLC soon, and AVOID CHARGING FOR IT. If anything, at this stage, a re-edit/epilogue is a patch. The fact being that it is not unreasonable to patch a game that is incomplete.. Charging for it just seems exploitative in the face of the controversy and ME is much better than Prince of Persia..

tl;dr - Claw back a win. Free SP Ending patch & conclusion - break even/profit of MP.

It's pathetic how Bioware uses Jessica to always calm the ****storm. I don't know whether she is sincerely sympathetic, or just puts on the professional face -- it doesn't even matter. She works for Bioware, and concerning this issue, she is clay in their hands. Just don't be deceived by the platitudes...and hold the line.

michaloo.....that's what I'm doing.....I have big doubts when it comes to Bioware at this time....for the next several weeks I'll keep on hoping that my initial assumption that Shep was unconscious and that there's more to come...but I will still let my doubts be heard

but, if they wait too long to announce something or they do in fact come out and say that there will be no "real ending" dlc, then I will swear off Bioware forever(been a fan for over a decade now)

They have 1 way to completely regain my trust in them...come out and tell the truth: "we planned it all along to get the fans thinking. Shep is alive and there's still some fight left. Dlc will arrive in the near future"...atleast its better than the No-Win situation we have currently

I agree, whoever you are you don't write something like that on an official fb page of the biggest game of the moment oabout the biggest controversy of the moment if you don't have any basis in reality, they HAD to know how big a thing that was. The truth probably is that they don't plan to do anything about the ending right now; yeah, they could change that if things don't calm down in the near future, but right now they're probably still hoping that they do and everything will be forgotten and forgiven and we will all buy pre-ending DLC and play Multiplayer. I'd be more than happy to be proven wrong.
Everytime I trust or empathize with anyone from BioWare two minutes later I feel like I've been duped like an idiot, so right now no, I'm sorry but until they come up with some solid words I'm not trusting them anymore, I was a big supporter of BW since the first KOTOR and that trust for now is broken and not easily repaired either. I mean, they still mantain that you don't need multiplayer to get some parts of the endings, that's just plain LYING, nothing less.

Don't be naive. It is something she is talented at and that si why she got her job. She is paid for being sincerely sympathetic. She is good cop in good cop/bad cop strategy.

I look at it like this - I'm not satisfied with what we have. I jumped on board with Bioware for the Mass Effect series. I think they brought the show to an end in the cheapest, most non-inventive and easiest way possible.

I will keep this in mind throughout my dealings with them - specifically concerning my pocketbook.

How they can end well over 100 hours of game play (per character) like that is beyond me. I had so much fun getting there - so many battles, so many decisions ..... so many friends, and even a love interest. I really used to get into my characters. Too see it all come crashing down with some 2 mniute talk with a machine that extincts the galaxy of all life every 50K years is just mind bogglingly cheap. Why would I even speak with a thing that sits there and justifies mass murder on a galactic and cyclic scale?

Bioware has let me down. Heck, they let themselves down. But you know, they are a company. They already have my money. If they can put out an ending like this one, then I know they don't care - they just want it to be over. So they will sit there and count their money with their feet up - but at the cost of all future transactions with a lot of people.

With this facebook response and all the "give us feedback" and "we're listenin to your opinions" it certainly looks like they're going to keep listening to our opinions until everyone stops caring and then that's it for Mass effect series. I mean why would they post "no plans to change the ending" if it wasn't true? True it wasn't as sophisticated and sneaky as all the other comments we've been given by Bioware, but still I think it wasn't any less true, just straight answer to a straight question. At least there wasn't any false hope in that response..

I mean, yeah of course Bioware is NOT changing the end. They never planned to do that and obviously don't have the money or time to do that now.

This whole "We are listening" is nothing but polite bs.

They just wait and hope a miracle happens.

That is, unless the fans mean serious business and force them to rethink. Holding the line etc.

I've said it before and I'll say it again.

Major business decisions do not just "happen" clearly ending DLC was not on the table at the beginning of this whole debacle.  The goal here is to make sure it is on the table now.

You literally can not react to every single word bioware says by yelling "NOOOOOOO"

There are already threads centering around most of the grievences related to the pre release dev comments and suggestions on what can be done to fix them.

That being said, it isn't wrong to every couple of days spring up with a general thread asking "So, are we anywhere closer to a definitive answer yet?"

What amazes me is the fact that one tweet saying there isn't any coming is the gospel truth and the change suggesting that its still all under review is treated as if it is a pack of lies.

Hanging on every word and reacting viscerally on every word are two ways we're all going to drive ourselves nuts.

Its not even a fortnight yet since the american release. 10 days since the European and barely 4 days since Japan got their copies. Holding the line is all that can be said. Undoubtedly the Japanese market is already in force now seeing as the time of completion (assuming 30-72 hours here) has come and gone.

Taking feedback really is the best they can hope for right now. So paranoia of massive rEAper conspiracy, DLC will be their best bet for pulling a win.

Whilst I can sympathise with the crew, they need to start moving (if not moving already) to avoid the blowback. 2 weeks for US fans, that is a large dev time frame. Assuming that the DLC design and implementation process is already underway, then PAX will be my best guess at some closure.

HOLD THE LINE.
