Jessica Merizan seems absolutely sincere about her concerns for fans. Maybe she's just extremely good at her job, but I always feel reassured by her support. Let's all calm down about this.

Thank you.

Let's retain some sanity here. We're acting like sharks with blood in the water. But Bioware isn't an enemy, we can't look at this relationship as adversarial, but one of mutual respect. Yes, they need to be afraid of what the consumers think, but they also need to be able to respect us.

And when we all look like a bunch of rabid jackels tearing apart their every statement, we lose their respect.

It's clear by this response, that they are extending a true olive branch, and we're too busy sharpening our knives to notice.

Everyone keep it civil.
Everyone, it was just a mistake by some guy that clearly had no idea what he was about to do.
Everyone, Hold The Line!

While I do not doubt Jessica's sincerity, we need to be realistic here.

And there is nothing wrong with staying vocal, loud, and continuing to put on the pressure. If people just sit back and quiet down, do you really think they will make changes in 2-3 months? So while it's nice to hear they are taking down notes and feedback, you can't just rely on that.

Not sure why most people are ignoring a key point in her post.

This.  Also please note that Jessica said "stay the course, guys".  That's good advice.  Stay the course.  Remain calm, collected, civil, and steady.

Please use the existing thread on the topic. Thank you.

End of line.

This was posted by Stanley Woo in the "Thank you Jessica Merizan" topic. Is he trying to imply that BioWare is trying to be rid of the "Hold the Line" movement? Why else would it be there?

Just merging two hot threads with similar content.  End of the line is just indicating he's locking the thread so the discussion would continue in this one.

Jessica's a champ, though her picture should be changed from Shepard with a shotgun to Shepard with a fire extinguisher.

Bioware better start making some plans then to add to the ending! Otherwise I won't be buying anymore of their products! And that's hard for me cause I love Bioware, but this is just unacceptable. Hold the line!!

It's like Shepard is down and spamming the A button to stay alive while we're frantically trying to get to him/her.

I think that we should start using their PR tactics as part of our protest.

"We can neither confirm nor deny that we will ever buy your products again should the endings remain unchanged.  Thank you for coming with us on this incredible journey - we appreciate your feedback and will announce our next course of action soon."

Signed,

Everybody.

I'd sign that letter.

It's very suspicious that the guy would even post that in the first place -- something must have given him the idea that this was the path Bioware had decided to  take. Whether or not the cards have changed, I get the impression that this was their stance at some point.

 "Misspoke" is an understatement.

This was someone who obviously had knowledge of at least a portion of the mindset in the BioWare offices as of this past week.

To blatantly say "we have no plans" to do anything concerning the ending means that they will never have plans to do so.

Keeping in mind that the call is not to change the ending, or re-do it, but to add additional pathways to it. This is not a hacket job, but an addendum being called for.

And they simply don't care.

I know Jess might care, same as Jarrett or Mike or even Casey (to some extent), but this is just insulting. Please, stop acting like you're listening and taking in our feedback and then outright say "we're hearing you, but we won't do anything."

If you're listening so much or care so much, at least put the option on the table.

This, pretty much. If he misspoke when the language was clear and definitive--and this guy is literally representing BioWare and the Mass Effect franchise on Twitter and Facebook,  on such a clearly important and incendiary concern, that's not "miscommunication." That's either "a few of us are starting to realize this is actually a huge problem we need to fix, but we haven't told everyone yet and the nature of our solution isn't decided yet", or it's "a few of us actually understand this ****storm is legitimate and important, and letting those statements stand would be a PR nightmare".

Guys, you should at least put the option on the table. You don't have to make some big annoucement; you can do it relatively quietly. But you need to do it, and soon. Otherwise--and I can guarantee this--this will be a massive black spot on BioWare's reputation for many years to come, and you'll lose a majority of your most dedicated and beloved fans. Those same fans (or most of them) will become vocal and persistent in their disgust and disillusionment. The fact that there are already half a dozen memes about ME3's endings alone within two weeks of release should be an indicator for the kind of sentiment being felt, and how prevalent it is.

The fact is, it'll take something big to restore the fanbase's faith in BioWare to the level it was before ME3's launch. Because if BioWare (and no offense is intended to its employees, only to the resulting actions) can screw up so horribly in an area they extensively and frequently promised and hyped up on their biggest franchise ever--even when the first 98% of the game was excellent and on par with the rest of the series--then how do we know that an Ending DLC won't be similarly dissapointing and bad? Or that a future franchise will get the same treatment?

That "something big" would have to be something along the lines of a MUCH improved ending that's true to the clear, numerous promises made by BioWare's leading developers and the core themes, experiences, and emotions of the series, priced at no more than 10 dollars (with a sincere apology and acknowledgement of the mistake), or for free-$5 (with no real apology).

Except that my thread came first.

Oh well. I think they're doing everything they can to minimize the damage, making it look like the movement isn't as big as it is.

Stay the course = keep doing what you're doing. I think they really are listening, if we can be rational and civil we may just get what we're asking for. Plus, being rational and civil is simply the right thing to do.

Don't let this die down....I say keep this thread growing...so that when others sign in to the forums tomorrow morning, they'll see this thread blowing up.....let it blow up in Biowares faces.

I highly doubt the guy on Mass Effect Twitter was lying....although my theory all along was that the last 10 minutes of the game were not the "end", I don't see a guy that's helping with Biowares "social media", responding to such a question with such definitive wording...if he was lying....

That was probably their stance at early release when it was just a few first-out-of-the-gate players finishing the game voicing their displeasure.

Now it's thousands.

Guys this was a misinformed individual who is helping us on our social
media channels during our launch period. Nothing has changed I'm terms
of the feedback we're gathering. If we had made a decision regarding
this matter, we would have relayed it in a formal announcement.

I'm
so proud of everyone who has been participating in surveys, polls,
threads that politely address concerns and the overall positive nature
of our community. Don't forget that many issues people had with DA2 was
directly addressed with DLC like Legacy. This is a serious matter and I
promise that our leadership is hearing your feedback.

Stay the course guys. This was a mistake within our internal communications, not a leak or announcement.

Note this line: "Don't forget that many issues people had with DA2 was
directly addressed with DLC like Legacy."

Remember the rampant re-use of assets, jarring timeline, and the end being the same, a teaser for a more interesting story, no matter what you did? Apparently they fixed that by releasing DLC with no ties to the story or core gameplay. They released add-on DLC that ignored the story of the main game and did nothing to fix the problems outside of the DLC.

And our movement had a guy run off to the FTC.  People make mistakes and even at the PR level there are miscoordinations and miscommunications.

We should take this as a blessing.  Still a front united.  We can still all be civil and reasonable with the same passion that guides us to hold the line as it is.

I'm getting the same kind of vibe as you are.  It is outright insulting to have that released (accident or not -- it was still intentional or suggested to the guy at some point), and then try to sugar coat it right afer with "Oh, no!  Don't believe it.  We're still listening, please keep sending us stuff (that we possibly won't even read, and just use to stall or give the illusion that there's progress.)  Quit lying.  This is what got you in trouble in the first place.

Doesn't seem like anything new here. It has to be pretty difficult for anyone at Bioware to make any kind of statement soon. All we can do is "Hold the line".

What I would do to know what exactly is going on at Bioware with the Mass Effect team...
