can't import ME1 save (despite configuring)

I play ME1 through Steam, and I downloaded ME2 through Origin.

I've used the configuration utility to set my save folder to the folder where my ME1 saves are. But ME2 still can't find them to import.

What's my next step? I have not moved my savegame folder or my documents folder from its default location.

Have you beaten ME1? You need to do so before ME2 will import it.

Do it manually. Just create a folder called ME1 in the ME2 saves folder and copy all the ME1 saves starting char* there.
