Our Mass Effect Universe is murdered. For nothing. Emptiness. And it's not "mea culpa" either.
Betrayal. Harassment of my own emotions without a purpose. No good.

For that I hold my line. For that I'm united with all of you good people, and we shall prevail. One day for sure.

I'll be perfectly honest, the primary reason that I'm holding the line is that I don't want to the franchise to die, and I want to see more stories set in it.

I'm holding the line for not only my Shepard and yours, but for all of our crew and friends aboard the Normandy. They deserve better than this. And I want them to have it.

Oh and for my canon Shep's unborn blue babies!!! Definitely for them.

I'm holding the line because I have to hope for something better than this. Otherwise the ME franchise is all but dead for me, and after all those hours put into it, and all those replays - that hurts.

I'm not fighting for me. I'm fighting for the other consumers in the future so the odds that a producer of a game / product they buy lives up to their prelaunch statements.

At this point everything is about the principle of companies living up to their word and not trying to pull a fast one on their consumers.

I put so much time into this series, and have so much attachment to the characters, setting and fanbase. I don't like seeing what those endings have done to all of those, ruining the Characters and giving them no closure, destroying and invalidating the setting, and tearing the fanbase completely apart. I really hate what those endings have done, and seeing so many other people as upset as I am.

There are lots of issues and plot holes with the ending but really it comes down to this: the ending makes Mass Effect a punchline.

The creators claimed that players wouldn't get an A B C ending, but would get closure on the major plot points, and the opposite was produced. Mass Effect is now an object of ridicule and I can't honestly argue that it doesn't deserve it. The very notion of decision and consequence that made Mass Effect a stand-out series get short-changed.

People are complaining, yes. They're complaining because people care about Mass Effect. The creators succeeded beyond their wildest dreams, crafting a world and stories and characters that players invested themselves in because of the freedom to choose and the certainty that those choices would be followed up. Bioware abandoned their very best asset.

I used to be able to point to Mass Effect as a video game that showed what the medium was capable of, a kind of storytelling that you can't get in film, television, novels, nothing except gaming because of Choice. Now I can only point to Mass Effect as a bad joke.

Because with an appropriate ending, I feel I could safely say that Mass Effect 3 is the best gaming experience I have ever had without flinching, thinking twice, or having to go, "But..."

Because I want a better ending for the 100s of hours and 100s of dollars i've spent on this trilogy.

there are many issues that contribute to why I joined (plot holes, I want the ending that I paid for, etc) But what "sold" me on the idea was when we set up the Child's Play charity. I have a soft spot for helping children and when I saw that the retakers were reacting in a positive way and focusing their energy into helping children, I couldn't help but support it. Even if we get nothing from BioWare, We still have given the children our love and support. I am proud of our movement and all that we have accomplished so far, and I'm excited to see what else we have yet to give.

Hold the line!

I am fighting for the content I was told I was buying in the first place and so my copy of ME3 does not become a $80 paper weight.  Look once a company lies to me I stop buying from them so I am not going to buy any more Bioware or EA products even if they come out and say no new ending I am just letting them know they I will come back if they make this right.  Also it has only been a week these things take time,if we don't give up just because Bioware is feeding us spin right now I know we will win.

Hold the line for as long as it takes people.

Along with Encarmine and many other's thoughts about an epilogue (or a conclusion if you perfer)!!

I want to see my war assets at work, the mercs, the volus bombers the
baterian fleet, i want to see endings for all of my crewmates, even if
its just a cutscene of them all being horribly killed and stamped on by
harbinger, I just need to see it!

Because I want to see the proper outcome I was promised in return for the time and money I have invested. If I pay you to build a house than you had better believe I won't just accept that you didn't put a roof on it.

Retakers. What's your personal connection? What are you fighting for? What does this universe mean to you that will make you fight tooth and nail to save it?

Do you need to ask?  Have you beaten ME3?

Because 3 years ago we were given Dragon Age: Origins. DA: O had a similar over-arching theme, fight for survival against all odds, and they managed to craft a magnificent ending that took your game choices into account.

Now 3 years later it seems that Bioware lost something. And they need to realize they did and get it back.

Good evening, Retakers. I wanted to say I'm proud of serving with you all.

Does it feel like we're struggling against a brick wall? I think it does, sometimes. But take a step back and look around. It's been less than two weeks from the American release of ME3, and already we have a voice. Already we've fought our way through bad press to find allies there, we've slogged through PR speak and held our ground, we've taken our frustration and used it to brighten the day of countless children. But I think we can all agree that the journey is far from over. And sometimes, that brick wall stands much too tall.

So, I think it's time for some perspective. To remind ourselves what we're fighting for. In the words of an old, beloved salarian friend:

For this fight, want personal connection. Can't anthropomorphize galaxy. But can think of favorite nephew. Fighting for him.

Retakers. What's your personal connection? What are you fighting for? What does this universe mean to you that will make you fight tooth and nail to save it?

Exactly what Mordin said.  I'm fighting for Shepard to live with Tali on her homeworld.  Poor b*stard's sacrificed enough already.  Hell, he already died once!

Give the man SOMETHING, for God's sake!

Im not really.... holding the line per se, i aprove of it, i agree with it, i kinda HOPE it makes a difference (well, it did, the charity was amazing and just proves how awesome this community is, despite whatever the f*** some of the gaming media has said).

But deep down, i know this is it, i know this trilogy has been reduced to nothing, i know that the same people who came up with such an amazing experience managed to make it all useless in 5 minutes, and i know that theyre going to lose customers and move on without them.

But as i said, i still somehow hope i am somehow wrong, its one of those instants id like to be proved wrong.

For me, this is all about letting my Shepard have what she deserved.... Well, i had 5 of them, they all deserved different things, but none of them deserved this end, for this trilogy to be remembered forever in this manner is the ultimate sadness. I now wish they made the ME series COMPLETELY linear, so i wouldnt feel so betrayed.
