I would have loved if they would have explained what the ramifications would be if Cerberus and others had continued doing experiments in Artificial Intelligence and synthetic design as they were do lots of those. I wonder why Citadel space had a law against doing that, all the robots were sooooo friendly in the games! Why would they have a law, that's just stupid and is never fully explored what the dangers are if we accidentally created a AI superintelligence who liked chacolate chip cookies.

While not necessarily a plot point from ME2, I still kinda wondered how Cerberus got the Human Reaper from the Collector Base if I blew it up...

I'm still trying to figure that one out, how is there no explanation whatsoever?

Meeting the mother of Shepard, and I wouldn't have minded her not looking like ones Shepard since one doesn't know the appearance of the father (it could work like Dragon Age 2).

They did something like this well in Fallout 3, where your father's appearance changes depending on what your character looks like, and obviously there's some wiggle room because if I remember correctly you never see your mother's appearance (or in Shepard's case, the father).

I don't know, maybe something like that was too difficult/resource-heavy to implement for what would probably have been a minor appearance only, but I agree with you and the other posters that some family interaction would have been good!

The entropy in self, not only it's manifestation trough the reapers and a possible connection with the dark matter plot.

The galaxy exploration, the ability to open new mass relays and the possibility to make contact with new civilizations (I love Spore for that)

Cerverus (They just turned them on to space n**is)

The planet exploration system

Didn't TIM mention something about recovering the weapon that took out the derelict reaper in ME2? I believe he said something about the weapon being non-functional, but you'd think Cerberus could tinker with that for a bit and figure out how to get it working again, considering they manage to figure out how to actually control the Reapers.

Dark Energy, and if they revamp the ending, they need to at least mention it, have it as a bi-product of the reason for Reaping or w/e, it's too integral to the ME series to just throw away...

Not really what I'd call a "favorite plot point" but something that seems to have gone completely unmentioned in ME3. Anyone else remember that side quest in ME2 where some batarians (I think?) launched a couple missiles on some planet? When you finally stop the bad guys, it turns out you can only stop one of the missiles. The other one explodes anyhow, destroying one of two locations. There was a journal glitch associated with this quest where if you picked Location A, it would say you picked Location B. BioWare even made a point to say that despite the journal glitch, your choice would be accurately saved.

Here's what I don't get: If that choice was saved, and seemingly important, why did it have no effect in ME3? Or even a mention at all? I really wish they had included something about it.

while not really plot points, i would have liked to have a bit more time with the characters. I would have liked to blow off steam with Jack, her way, go on a hit with Thane, and Morinth, i honestly would have liked if she turned out to be a full character, not like the rest of my crew are any less dangerous than her. More character focus i guess, how it would have been worked in, i dont know, maybe in a flashback of time inbetween 2 and 3, but ya, things like that

Dark Energy.

Hey, let's send a whole squad of Quarians to die on this hellhole of a world for info about this world's dying sun. It might be important!

Or, you know, it might never get mentioned again, because Mac Walters wanted LOTS OF SPECULATION FOR EVERYONE. (as in: dark energy was originally supposed to be the Big Thing in ME3.)

I always did kinda expect the whole beings of light volus thing to come to fruition or at least be mentioned in some way.

I'm probably going to be kicked for this, but the Star Child kind of qualified as a being of light, didn't it. <_<

But he was in control of the reapers, whereas the beings of light are specifically mentioned as beings that will fight the "machine devils".

First it was the Thorian.

But after this: it's Dark Energy.

True!  Being devil's advocate here, but there's no proof that the "machine devils" mentioned are the Reapers, either.  If Star Child's circular (and ridiculous) logic is to be taken at face value, he believes he is saving everyone from "machine devils"--the devils they themselves could potentially create.

Devil's advocate hat off, I really want to believe there's no lore justification for Starkid.

Stars were dying in ME2, I wondered about that, and I was hoping that prothean vision from 1 and prothean sphere from 2 were leading to something.

How about the Raloi? or the Lysenthi Salarians? I mean, don't mention two races, then never show or allude to them again.

This, absolutely.

Odd Bet wrote...

The Raloi severed all ties with the Council and destroyed all advanced technology that they had received, hoping that the Reapers would then pass over them, thinking they were a pre-spaceflight civilization.

Not sure how well that worked out for them.

Intersting, I missed that bit. Where'd that come up?

Other things I wanted to see expanded: That ship from the Cerberus Daily News, the one with the virtual civilisation inside. Last we heard, they had one of theirs body-swapped with a real-world guy, and they were negotiating something with the Council. We got to do the whole VR thing with the geth consensus, no reason the same interface couldn't let us explore a whole new civilisation. Who are they? Where did they come from? Was it their way of escaping the Reapers a cycle or two ago?

The Nemean Abyss. An area described as being even further beyond Council influence than the Terminus Systems. So far out, there are entire colonies of humans pretty much undocumented by the Alliance. I know it was just the throw-away setting of a crappy iPhone game, but it was basically canon, the cameo of Ish in ME2 talking about the events of that game confirm it. Did the Reapers even know about those colonies?

And speaking of colonies undocumented by the Alliance, I know I'm going back to the CDN again, but how about that colony that left Earth before the Charon relay was discovered? They used some rubbish version of FTL, experienced some temporal distortion, and eventually the asari found them. Some headed back to Earth and looked up their great grand nephews, some stayed on the colony, etc. Would've been cool to explore.

I thought it was weird I didn't meet the researching Asari that I met on Virmire and Okeer's mission again, and didn't walk into Gianna Parasini once more.

Yes, this! I really thought we were going to see something about this come up in ME3. I would have also liked to see more of the Thorian and learn more about that and its relevance to the final reaper battle (did it pitch in like mama thresher maw?)

In the thread in my signature, I posed the idea of having that Ship and it's Virtual Civilisation as a short DLC mission which would not have Cerberus or the Reapers as a foe, but instead Quarian Extremists. I too, thought the idea was pretty awesome and deserved more exploration.

What are your favorite little story/lore things from previous games that could have been included in the game somehow but were never explored?

I have 2: the gas giant Ploba's "Deep Anomalies" intrigued me. People figured out there were huge objects inside the gas giant that were too regular in pattern to be anything natural, but no one was ever able to figure out what the "deep anomalies" were.

Also, the planet Klencory's supposed "beings of light." A volus billionaire claimed the planet and hired an army of mercenaries to help him try to excavate the lost crypts of "beings of light" he had a vision about being around in order to protect the galaxy from "synthetic machine devils." I was kinda surprised when nothing came of that, as it sounded like an obvious Reaper-related thing.

Also there was some other random planet (can't remember name) that had strange light patterns on its dark side or something, but when people went to investigate they were gone...

Little things like that, I know were probably just meant to add a layer of complexity and mystery to the galaxy, like giving us a sense that there's still always more out there we don't know, but I still would have liked to see incorporated somehow into the story.

Anyone else have any little things like that they had hoped would be expanded on, or just thought were intriguing?

I definately found those intriguing, ones you mentioned. In ME3 there is a cold planet with frozen evidence of a sapient spieces with space-faring equipment, if I recall. Forgot the name of it. Scientists are puzzled because there are planets closeby with more comfortable temperates, but the species took that planet. That got me intrigued too.

The no. 1 thing I wish was explored more was the prothean beacon vision that was so prevalent in ME1. Of course, we know that is cleared up more with Javik's explanation...but I sort of figured it would be more important.
