"Key enemy personnel" is just plain silly.

I understand, that when facing Cerberus there is a minimal chance, that someone 'important' will be on battlefield, however, the SP campaign contradicts it.

But key enemy Geth Platforms and key enemy husks (including key enemy Cannibals) is just stupid (and against the established lore, hurr durr, the geth being basically a swarm mind with everybody equal and husks being mindless shells). I know that MP is just for some dumb shoot'em up fun,  but it would be nice to hear some plausible reasons for killing the marked targets.

Because the marked units are filled with gift certificates to Papa Johns and your boss guy loves him some pizza. Seems the logical conclusions, thought everyone else had figured this out.

"We're dropping you into a hot zone. No time for areal bombardment"

"Dude, it's the inside of a reactor."

Multiplayer doesn't always make sense.

Who would send 4 men against an army of atlases/banshees/geth for vital intel?

Or better yet, a ship crashed there.  Indoors.  That's why it crashed of course, silly pilot.

You're thinking way too hard about a simple horde-mode multiplayer gameplay mechanic. You're adding context where it isn't needed.

If fantasy and science fiction has taught me anything, it's that 4 men + the girl can conquer any army.

It shouldn't be hard to just change some dialogue based on certain conditions. I like key Reaper constructs, ranking Geth platforms, crashed ships in the reactors... Oh, and double agents uploading intel. Double agents for the Geth. Well ok, that key personnel could mean dangerous geth primes. Or brutes that have to be exterminated (like that Goliath thing). But still...

Horde modes with the goal of providing fun using lore as reference now? What is this I don't even.

"Key personnel on sight!"

*Looks over at the blue triangle and see's it's a husk* =_=

I kid you not! This did happen on bronze reapers!

Only because MP doesn't make any sense, doesn't mean I have to accept it.

And just why shouldn't I expect some context? Promoting to SP and advertising hinted that the context will be present.

Key enemy personnel is just the example that is most strikingly stupid imho.

I prefer the term "persons of interest" myself.

I take it, that you wouldn't mind if the announcer said sth like "these Geth ruined my lawn last weekend, obliterate them". The amount of fun stays the same.

Announcers lines could be easily modified to actually make sense, and I bet the developers tried (and failed) making it that way.

But using the same announcer/missions/whatever not regarding the faction you're up against is STUPID. With key enemy personnel being the prime example.

It seems real condescending (cause it is...) writing something as self evident as this, but: The idea behind the different tasks in multiplayer is to have DIFFERENT TASKS IN MULTIPLAYER. Finding and eliminating marked targets, defending locations, finding locations, surviving waves requires different strategies and degrees of cooperation. It doesn't make a rat's ass of a difference what those targets, locations, whatever are.

Using that kind of logic leads to missions like:

- plant 4 rose bushes in key locations (4 scramblers/indoctrinaton boosters)
- play dance-dance revolution for an amount of time on marked location (uploading/hacking)
- destroy 4 enemies who do listen to Justin Bieber songs (marked targets)

It IS important WHAT the goals are.

- Four Reaper specimens required for research, we need them dead and available for pickup.
- Advanced Geth platforms spotted...
- Joker's pr0n collection available in local network.

Maybe they're modified geth/Reaper command-and-control units.

I know, and I do have fun, but amazingly somehow I can't think it is somewhat linked to ME, where key Cannibals sound stupid.

end of thread, cause clearly noone gives a damn that one announcer for 3 factions is lazy.
