EA CEO John Riccitiello this is why we must hold the line and not give in.

Microtransactions might be profitable for companies but thgey actually exploit people who are addicted to online gaming. There is scientific eveidence for online addiction and this business model aims at damaging people who have been hooked even more.
If the tobacco industry is forced to show more social responsibility then so should companies like EA, Only because you are making money doesn't justify the means. A proper justification also needs to take the damage to the costumer into account.

Those really should not be available for real money. For one it's easy to earn credits in game for two they aren't worth more real money and for three they are really random and you usually get garbage. It's shameful that they sell those for real money.

It does because no one forces you to spend your money. If too many people think it's worthwhile to spend their money on that kind of model than as sucky as it seems, capitalism has worked. I don't think it will get there though and definitely not in this economy.
However, you can see the idiocy of people who think that free to play MMOs are wonderful when many of them don't realize that they actually wind up spending more to have decent access than they would playing on a monthly sub model.

I can't access YouTube now, so what is he saying ?
He's basically saying that at a certain point, a gamer is so invested in a particular game that they no longer think clearly and so, this is the perfect time to ask them to pay more to keep playing.
His example is someone who has been playing Battlefield for 6hrs and they run out of ammo so they have to pay $1.00 to restock and keep playing.
I see, thanks for the clarification !
Actually, it makes perfect sense from a business standpoint. But what I despise is that it seems the trend in this industry is that gamers are only considered cash cows instead of consumer entitled to quality products...
Failway to do business, especially if you go public about it.

It's even more shameful that people buy them.
Capitalism is a two-way transaction. They wouldn't sell what folks wouldn't buy. I don't understand why anyone would buy what it only takes a match or three to earn, but I guess in today's instant gratification society, people just don't have the patience. I sure wouldn't waste my money on it.

Asking for better endings is different than asking to pay 1 dolar per reload. Stop exaggerating.
