I loved the 12 squad members we had in ME2....apparently we had 6 this time round to focus on deeper relations between them....what a load of bull.

Yeah... that Spanish dude we get, the one calling you loco, i don't even know his name. Thats how deeply i bonded with that character. They should rather have brought Jacob back as Squadmate. He wouldn't have added more personality to the cast, but at least i'd know his name.

ME1>ME2>ME3
To be more precise, minus story (if you take out ME3 ending of course, as ME2 have real choices for it's ending) and fights, ME2>ME3.

I agree, and a lot of it has to do with the suicide mission. IMO that mission should've been one or two segments longer, but the way it is presented, especially the cinematics was way superior to ME3's ending. And ME1's too as far as i'm concerned.

(Though the part of ME1 outside the citadel tower is unbeatable by both later games).

With ME3's current endings, ME2 is better.

This is hard to choose. But it seemed to me that ME2 was better in RPG (interaction with team members especially) on the other hand ME3 was better in action and varieties of enemies. I enjoyed both games and definitely think that they complete each other either in point of quality and epicness.

It's my favorite game in the series but I generally prefer character driven stories, ME1 fleshed out the universe brilliantly allowing 2 to focus and smaller individual stories of characters from different species. I love creating a team for a suicide mission in a secret war where if you succeed no one will know of your sacrifice, in a way that seems more heroic.

If I was to be stuck on a remote desert island I'd only want 3 things - a fridge full of drinks, a copy of ME2 and a PC man enough to play it on :o) I fell in love with that game :o)

Cant believe some of you quoting ME2's strong points is exploration ? some of ME2s side quests were just plain out dumb, go here press this thing here and run down this hallway shot some enemies, press this thingy viola ! end of mission, there seemed to be a complete lack of npc interactions that was in ME1 ....

I must have played ME2 about 10 times. The choices, character interaction, and combat were amazing. Loved every second of it! And the ending reflected the choices you made. Ahh... good times...

Mass Effect 2 is my favorite game of all time.

Is it odd that I see myself playing it yet again over ME3 campaign?

The controls were much better in ME2, I think. I'm having hard time enjoying the action button in ME3. I don't want to roll, I want to cover! X___X

I think so only because the endings actually showed the consequences of your actions, and the fact that you can use your ME1 character with no importing issues lol.

That's probably because the Mass Effect 2 maps where smaller then Mass Effect 1 maps. I enjoyed both games but Mass Effect 2 was just better, even the soundtracks are still played till today (which i can't say for ME1 and ME3).

To bad Jack Wall didn't do the Mass Effect 3 soundtrack, that would make the game totally different.

I absolutely loved ME, but i must admit ME2 is simply awesome.

There isn't really anything about it i dislike, heck i even enjoy planet scanning.

Not playing ME3 until ending debacle fixed but from what i've seen, it looks worse in totality than the previous 2. (based upon things that put me off/bother me)

The characters in the game were fantastic. Only problem with the game I had was the cover to climb over stuff issue.

In terms of story though, ME3 (before the endings) is better than ME2 in sense of it being a similar story to ME1.

ME2 was fantastic, aside from the planet scanning. My favourite of the ME series.

I played through ME2 at least 10 times, and will play through it more in future, I can't say the same about ME3 in its current state. ME2 let you make a lot of decisions that seemed like they mattered, it wasn't set to auto dialogue. There were characters and conflicts within the crew, and we got to explore the people on the ship a lot more.

Pros of 3:
The Melee additions. That's it.

edit: ok fine... and I liked the way it tied back to ME1.

OP, You are not the only one. Not by a long shot.

I can't say which I think is best yet because I haven't played ME3 yet. (save for at the very least only brielfly for part of the Mars mission, nowhere near enough time to give a credible opinion) Still finishing up my canon Shep. I'm on ME2 now.

I like Mass Effect 2 better than Mass Effect 3, even if the ending was changed.

Mass Effect 2 just had a better overall atmosphere, and some of the more interesting character dynamics. The Illusive Man playing the main antagonist, while simultaneously being an ally is probably the best moment in modern narrative-driven gaming.

It was a little disappointing that TIM became sort of that mustache twirling supe-rvillian in Mass 3.

ME3 was *great*. I was also not extremely depressed by the endings, only disappointed by it providing no real closure and not taking too many of my choices into account.

ME2, my overall favourite computer game ever, was more interesting than ME3 - more characters, deeper character development, more locations, more side-quests (with actual locations rather than just scanning!), more hidden secrets, and FAR more varied enemies. Oh, and you also had far more control over the ending including micro-managing

ME1 was almost as good as ME2, and its universe - and locations - felt HUGE in comparison to ME3 and even ME2. Its plot was also great. Its main downside was a slightly less streamlined interface, and relatively non-varied planetside locations on side missions (there were about 3 interiors used and re-used in about 90% of them).

In my opinion, they were all great. From a gameplay perspective I'd say
ME3 > ME2 > ME1
From a story perspective I'd say
ME1 > ME2 > ME3
From a combined perspective I'd say
ME1 > ME2 > ME3
From a combined perspective minus the ending I'd say
ME1 > ME3 > ME2

I beat ME 1 3 times and really enjoyed it.
ME 2 over 8 times to make diffrent "alts " with various choices (when we all thought they will matter ) in last 2 years and I really enjoyed it.
After beating ME 1 once I don't feel like replaying it again at all (unless they will release DLC that will fix endings )
So yea ME 2 was much better at least for me.
