I liked ME 3 better and ME 1 is my favorite.

ME2 was FAR better...all of the choices...the dialogue options...I tore my hair out worrying about who to choose to do the various missions in the Suicide Missions...ME2 was so very satisfying in the way it concluded. It was a masterpiece of both story-telling and gameplay.
ME3, great story for about 90%... dialogue options were fair, nowhere near what we had in ME2...and the ending was a complete letdown. NOT a way to end a trilogy.

I have to say that ME2 was better in many aspects, but there are moments in ME3 such as the relationships with Liara, Tali, and Garrus that have some of best writing in the trilogy. Some people have mentioned that you don't enter cut scenes for as many dialogues, but they at least have you enter one for important conversations. It is worth noting that there is a lot more going on the Normandy inbetween missions, particularly banter between squad members. This time around, I like that they portrayed Shepard as being a vulnerable human being through the dreams, visual signs of stress, and conversations like those with Joker who points out how stressed out Shepard is. The combat in ME3 seems a little smoother despite sticking to walls like a fly. My biggest complaint is that there seems to be a lot of auto-dialogue compared to the past two games. Unfortunately I think this is to appeal to the "shooter" crowd, which is a shame in my opinion.

I like ME2 more than ME1 and certainly more than ME3. While the ME3 gameplay was a bit better than ME2, the story was a huge letdown despite some really brilliant moments, especially because of the ending and the way the desicions from ME1/ME2 were handled.

I LOVED ME2. Probably my favorite game of all time. ME3 is good, but it doesn't live up to that epic triumphant storytelling. It's too focused on grimdark and GoW3 touches. That's without even going into the ending.
That being said, if ME1 was remade with the new engine and updated graphics it would easily be my favorite over any other ME games. Saren has never been beaten by any other later antagonist and the conversation with Sovereign on Virmire is the most powerful moment of the series. It's only hurt by the outdated graphics and clunky combat engine.

I think ME3 is superior in many ways. In ME2 the whole game is about recruiting your team that you can't even get to know as well as you'd like, the main quests are sparse and short.
ME2 beats ME3 when it comes to the conclusion though, suicide mission is one of my favorite sequences in games ever. And with today's ME3s ending it is even better.
ME2 has some really dumb lines and ideas, that ME3 does not have.

Also, as for the time being, ME3 has the potential to outshine ME2 even more, with decent DLCs and altering the ending.
I know that many people hates the idea of DLCs, but I'mm allright with them, thats just how modern vg market looks like. Games are more expensive.

1. ME2 as a complete package. Has some flaws with regard to RPG elements and story but all around quality.
2. ME1 insanely bad combat and game play mechanics, bad quest pacing/boredom. But awesome immersion, dialogue and story.
3. ME3 - best action, has some great moments better than ME1 and ME2. All around corners were cut and terrible ending.
I would put them in that order.

The more I think ME2 had better character development and I think if you had taken ME3's combat system (and let me keep my heavy weapons which I prefer over the grenades ) It would of been perfect but I am one guy with a weird opinion

Now that you've mentioned it, I liked ME2 and its DLCs more than ME3 now. Why, because there is consistency on all of your ME1 decisions, there was tight integration.

I felt ME1 was better than both ME2 and ME3. The way it was written, the combat though somewhat flawed was good and the planet exploration even with it's annoyances out beat ME2 and ME3.

At least in ME2 you actually do quests... unlike ME3 where you just eavesdrop on people. Theres also no exploration. ME3 was also incredibly short.

I agree with you. ME3 had amazing combat, felt almost as good as Uncharted or Gears (for a game with this much dialogue it is great to have). Give me ME1's dialogue/story/immersion, ME2's character development and flash with ME3's combat you'd have the perfect game.
Sadly Bioware hits one note with each of their games foregoing another...

Yea i agree op.
ME2 has definalty been my favourite out of the trilogy. Introducing so many differing and interesting characters made it alot of fun to play through for me.

Say whatever you want to, but ME2 character development is worse than ME3s. team interaction, meeting them on Citadel, talks you have with Liara, Garrus and Tali, ME2 squadmates cameos - ME3 delivered far more than ME2.

I liked the first one the best. It wasn't as advanced, good looking, or lengthy as the rest but there's something about this that I just love.
It's the sense of exploration, mystery, and the general unknown. In Mass Effect, you're just learning about the reapers, indoctrination, beacons, and very little made sense. At the same time though, it did. It was just that it was unknown to Shepard, thus making it more of a mystery to you. A lot of 1st movies do this, making them more interesting. Harry Potter (the first) did this to an extent, the Fellowship of the Ring did it, Star Wars did it kind of, etc.
Mass Effect 2 was all about preparing. Throughout this game, less and less became a mystery until at the end there were very few big questions remaining.
3 was all about putting that preparation to good use when the genocidal robots all show up.
I liked 1 for it's mystery element, I guess is what I'm trying to say. This is all my take on it. Feel free to disagree.

Lengthy? It's longer than the second one and it seems like it was longer than the third game. I haven't finished ME3, so I don't know 100% about that one. But ME2 definitely did not take as long as ME1 to do everything.
That said, ME1 was definitely the best. All the stuff I heard about ME3 and what I've played so far, doesn't feel like the first game and that's a bad sign.

Well if you did Eden Prime, Citadel, the three mid-game planets, virmire, Ilos, and the citadel again in order and without doing side quests, it takes a while, yeah. Mass Effect 2 has you going to 12 planets to run a mission to recruit, then 12 more for loyalty, all the while making you visit Freedom's progress, Horizon, the ship, the reaper, the base, etc. It takes a while.
EDIT: I do agree though. The Feros misson and the Noveria mission felt like games in themselves.

IT WAS, from rpg view at least, add those stumbles quick running and maybe omniblade(not that stupid as it is in me3) and it will best me3 from the action pov also! Ah also forgot that me3 has more realistic relationships and dialog at least it seems so

i'd pretty much replay ME2 and consider it as the end of the trilogy. I'll keep pretending ME3 never ever ever happened.
