I cant be the only one who feels like BioWare has almost given up on making a good game. It feels like everything they do now is almost forced, like they dont have enough resources to make a good game anymore. It started with DA2 becoming pretty much and action game, and now ME3 the end of my favorite RPG of all time doesnt feel like an RPG.  I understand the galaxy is at war and all but the game was so linear and straight forward it was almost hard to play for me.  there was 1 place to explore, the citidel and this version of the citidel was like half the size of ME1's and that was it no Omega no Illium nothing.  How can you call this game an RPG the only remenant of the mass effect i loved was conversation options and that was it. Hell in ME2 i thought they skimped out by letting us scan planets for ores instead of using the Mako to drive around but at least scanning gave us something to do just to kill time and immerse ourselves further now we just scan an area for an item to take on go fetch side quests.  speaking of side quests where were they? I dont consider picking one side or the other in an argument a side quest im sorry, side quests are supposed to be extra missions not pointless errands, you guys should be better then that.

With all that said i do relize that taking into account the decisions made from 2 previous games makes for alot of different scenarios and cut scenes which take up disc space but the length of this game was so underwhelming.  Making enemies harder and putting in dropped gear around maps that you have to look in every corner for may make us feel like we are playing a longer game when we see the save file time clock, but every map is so much smaller than ME2, Firebase white is not a single player sized map, yet its added in as a mission even though i can run across the whole thing in 30secs, what happened to locations like Omega where we could look around talk to people, run into old friends from past games, buy things, convince shopkeepers to lower prices, or go save an ally or 2 from certain death. Not just land, kill a few things, look for scattered equipment littered about for some reason, and extract.

Theres so much more i am angry about that i just cant fit it all here. There was a time that all i needed to see on a games case was the name BioWare and i would buy it regardless of price or if i had even ever heard of it because i knew that i would like it, because BioWare made great games. Im begining to rethink that right now, i dont know if EA is pushing to hard to turn out underdeveloped money grab games, or because you lost people important to your process, or maybe you just are at the point where you dont care about your fans anymore and just want to get whatever cash you can before going out of buisness, but i can assure you that you are losing fans and you are losing them fast.

I feel your pain.
The old BioWare is gone, all that is left is a husk controlled by EA...

Considering many of the quality people behind the old games have left Bioware years ago - I'd blame less on EA and just lack of quality within Bioware.

Personally, I loved DA2. Also, I love ME3, every little thing about it...right up til the end. And that is all that's wrong with it.

So, maybe you prefer the original Bioware. I personally prefer DA2 and ME2 and ME3 over their originals. That's just taste, I guess.

ME3 and DA2 would have been fine, if they werent called ME3 and DA2. They make perfectly fine action adventure genre games and under any other names i would of given them a thumbs up as well, but when you attach the name of franchises with a fan base the size of those games you dont cut corners and rebuild the entire thing, you make a continuation of the prior game with a few extras not take away everything that makes them great.

I guess the problem with Bioware these days is that they can't figure out how to write satisfying endings anymore.

DA2 and ME3 are similar in that respect. No matter what I do during the game, the ending is extremely unsatisfying, I don't have any influence on it, no matter how hard I try, no matter what I do during the game.

Earlier Bioware games did a much better job, in my opinion. Baldur's Gate and Baldur's Gate 2 + ToB had a satisfying ending with choices that made sense in the context of the story. NWN and its add-ons also gave us endings that made sense, KotOR did it and so did DA:O, ME1 and ME2.

So, maybe Bioware needs to re-hire some decent writers and stop pretending they're making art. They're not. They're making entertainment.

When i finished ME2 i wanted to jump right back in and try a different class, i went out bought a new copy of ME1 and played all the way through over and over getting different endings and choosing different things. Now that im done with ME3 i feel like i just beat COD, i could play some MP if my friends are on but other then that i really dont care anymore, its quite sad actually. I dont even care to see what happens if i choose different romance options, or decide to play renegade instead of paragon because none of it matters. Who cares if i decide to kill the geth or let them live, who cares if, oh wait i cant think of any other decisions you make in this game. I cant decide to do someones loyalty mission or decide to go save my abducted crew right away or finish up some quests. Nothing matters at all its just a straight shot beginning to end with a couple stops to end someones argument on the citidel or feed my fish (because while im out saving the galaxy whats really important is telling c-sec to keep fighting crime).

I dont even want a different ending ya know why, BECAUSE I DONT CARE!!!! Im no longer "emotionally invested" in the characters or the game because apparently BioWare and EA wanted to hype up there half assed game just long enough to get the pre-order money before screwing us. Oh wait they did that will launch day DLC that was supposed to be in the game anyways thats right.

I don't know what you guys are talking about. I have real problems with the ending of Mass Effect 3, but the rest of the game is phenomenal. I know that's like saying everything but the roach in the gourmet salad is gourmet, but come on - I savored every minute of the game, save the last ten.

Same here bro, I played ME1 four times and ME2 seven times. Then the week before ME3 came out I did ONE FINAL playthrough from ME1 to ME2 just to jog my memory a bit. After my first playthrough of ME3, I can't even summon the strength to play any of the other classes cause it just feels pointless.

I think you should be asking what's wrong with you, not Bioware. Aside from a weak ending, ME3 was perfection and had way more RPG stuff than ME2. But you don't care about a story or experience, it's just "where's my RPG, derp, derp?".

If there's any problem around here it's ungrateful "fans" like yourself.

Lets be fair here, most of the game was solid awesome up until the ending. For whatever reason they collectively decided to lose it for the ending, but up until then the game was a stellar experience for which I have no regrets. Could it have been better? Sure. We'd have liked to see more of the Rachni and other species getting involved and whatnot, more dialogue from squad members and the like, and an abscence of the silly dream sequences, but overall the game was *great*.

It was that last 5-10 minutes that putzed it. I don't think that can be lain at the feet of Bioware as a whole, but rather a failing of the writing heads and management team of the game to properly analyze their ideas and reflect upon them before finishing and releasing content.

Things like the loss of isometric view in DA2 were clear corners that were cut and the people who support them for it disgust me. That is all.

The old BioWare died a while ago, they sold out and EA have completely ruined them.

Games will now follow a predictable pattern, rushed to meet released deadlines, day 1 DLC'd to the max, staff will lie to gamers for marketing reasons, mainstream review sites will conveniently ignore these short-commings because they want the advertising revenue.

It makes me sad that it has come to this.

Bioware is good, game is good. I was affraid that they will finish ME trilogy with some cheesy bull**** like a giant worm gun, but no, it's good. Respect.

Uhm....did I miss anything ?

Mass Effect 3 is a fantastic game, it only has a rather poor ending.
Bioware did a great job on it.

Maybe Bioware didn't become worse but everyone's expectations grew....

Dragon Age II was an immensely enjoyable role-playing experience. The combat was a little quicker and the game was much more cinematic, but that doesn't render it an "action game". You still talk to people, you still level up and find new equipment, you still make decisions that impact the way the story goes.

It's a significantly better game than Origins in terms of mechanics, and its more imaginative story helps elevate that quality even further. It's the best RPG i've ever played.

The unexplored worlds in the original Mass Effect had few redeeming qualities. The vistas are just about the one thing i enjoyed about them. Driving the Mako and looking for artifacts and rare materials felt like a chore, and the missions on them were repetitive and dull.

The N7 missions in ME2 and ME3 were much, much better. The vehicular sections in the Firewalker pack were more fun than anything involving the Mako; it's a shame that we didn't get anything similar in ME3.

The War Asset mechanic in ME3 was one of its strongest roleplaying points. My assets will very likely be different to the ones any other player collected. Your actions throughout the game affect them, and the planet scanning was used to bolster this further. I wouldn't say that i enjoyed scanning the planets, but i did enjoy building my army and reading about it.

Also, the Citadel in ME3 was its best incarnation.

What are you talking about?  RPG games always have multiple locations which you can explore, shop for equipment, find out background story or current events, or just take a break from battles. This game had what, the normandy and the citidel hardly what id call an immense envioronment.  The citidel was the same thing over and over overhear someone talking, go scan a planet, bring something back pointless and weak.  The normandy had so many areas that were just empty, in ME2 every corner was filled i could spend an hour walking around the ship talking to the crew and building relationships, nothing in this game came close to as in depth as it was in 2.  I could pretty much just see legion and tali fighting it out in a cut scene at the table outside the war asset room but nothing of the sort. Im sorry but the games fighting system was the only decent part of the game all of the RPG features are gone.
