I am 100% behind a good ending with a substantial epilogue and no significant plotholes. I have various complaints with ME3 but that is the main thing I want from the ending.
To achieve this Shepard does not have to live, in fact the one part of the ending I would say which was in character was Shepard willing to sacrifice him/herself to save the rest.
I fully expected the ending to be bittersweet with an Armageddon style ending or a Gladiator style ending where the entire point of it was sacrifice.
I do not presume to speak for everyone which is why I said "I want" but think to yourself does Shepard really need to live? isn't it enough to see what effect Sheps sacrifice did to the galaxy in a proper ending?
I want a good ending, whether Shep lives or dies does not matter

As long as there is at least an OPTION where Shepard survives, I'm good. A lot of good people died along the way, there's enough loss to feel it, for me. Can't I at least have one good ending where Shep lives on to see another day with his/her LI?
At the same token, you can have your cliche sacrifice ending. See, everyone's happy.

Your suggested ending that everyone lives happily ever after is not cliche? lol...
I felt they were closing the chapter on Sheps life, I feel Sheps legacy is more important than Sheps survival in this situation. Maybe the LI could be pregnant or adopt and raise a child named Shepard in a new ending?
Just how I feel about it really.
