  Christ how DULL were they. I dont count the ones that include characters because they are story follow ups. There was nothing to do apart from listen to a conversation and scan planets. I mean really?! 
Just standing by a conversation and then going HEY I FOUND YOUR FLAG BECAUSE IM NOSEY!!
Mass effect 1 had tons of interesting side missions , the crime boss paying you to kill her rivals, the ghost ship that was suddenly full of husks, the biotic rebels.
I know theres a war going on so maybe the focus was 100% on that but surely you can use that in the favour of side missions. Take down a reaper here with people, save civilians from something as they run off. 

You know showing the war is everywhere and affecting people.
The MP doesnt help this, yes the MP is great but everyone played it in the demo and so got used to small maps and objectives in them, so when these same things pop up in the N7 missions. People are naturally going to be angry.

I am yet to finish the game but Im clearly at the end, Bland squadmates ( like EDI , which was utterly stupid ) didnt help and I can only assume i will dislike the ending like everyone else.
