I bought BG2 a while back on GOG.com and have tried to get into it but the graphics and interface have slowed me down. Note I played BG1&2 when they first came out and loved them. I saw BG2 on sale and had to grab it. Playing it however...
I keep reading here that there a mods for the game now. I have never modded BG2 before (except for one change I made myself to add Alora to my party, just love that girl) so I wasn't aware of a whole modding community.
My questions are, where are the mods?
Also, I am looking for mods that just make the game look better and help with the interface. Nothing added or changed in the game itself. What mods are suggested for this.
ps - sorry for jumping on the BG2 modding scene so late in the day. Thanks.
BG2 mods?

Follow the two links in my signature for some great mods. Also these communities have some good mods as well:

Sorry, didn't notice that was one of your links. Still Great minds think alike. (Or fools seldom differ)

Looks like most all of those mods are adding new content. That is exactly what I don't want. I want to play the game as is, I just want it to look better, have better interface and fix what few bugs there are.

You will want either EasyTutu or Baldur's Gate Trilogy. Both of these allow you to play BG1 using the BG2 interface and extra character classes and kits, as well as the increased BG2 walking speed to get around the maps faster.
EasyTutu is probably easier to install than BGT for a modding beginner.
After that, install the mods called BG2 Fixpack and Unfinished Business. These will fix bugs and unlock content that was intended but not included in the original release.
If you want the characters to have dialogues in BG1, you will need the BG NPC Project.
Finally, there is a widescreen mod that increases resolution so you can play on a big screen tv or monitor. There are also several mods that increase font size to make all the printing easier to read.
You should be able to find all these by typing the names into your search engine.

Widescreen mod mentioned above is useful if your native resolution is not one of the standard list.
1PP www.spellholdstudios.net/ie/1pp is mainly graphical changes
Appeciate you don't want to change the game but at least read the text for Ascension if you're not familiar with it (why - David Gaider, senior designer of BG2 was involved). weidu.org/ascension/Ascension-WeiDU.txt
There are a few other graphical tweaks available. e.g. spellcasting animation from other IE games, remove the effects of the cloak of mirroring, etc.

Cool thanks. My monitor is standard 1280x1024 so I'm good there (yeah, yeah, I know it's old, but a wide screen won't fit in my PC hutch.)

Yep, ancient (says he on 1024x768 but no doubt somebody will top that with a relic)
Enjoy the game.
