I wouldn't put it past them, but lets not get crazy here.

I don't want to see the forums turn into a witch hunt, where anyone saying they like bioware is accused of being a plant.

They've done it before?

One of their employees was exposed having posted a 10/10 review for DA2 on Metacritic incognito - it ignited a major controversy all over the forums and abroad. Read more here:

For some reason I read the entry in the voice of the guy who does the codex.

Wait, you can read wikipedia articles WITHOUT hearing Neil Ross?!

what? developers have an opinion on the ending they created, acting like people and supporting it? next thing you'll tell me is that politicians vote for themselves in elections!

And let me guess, anybody who defends the ending or doesn't immediately jump on the demand a new ending bandwagon is a plant?

I don't believe this; they have no chance against that many people. Also if someone would find definitiv Proof, they'd look very very bad.

No politician would EVER vote for himself or pay someone to vote for him.  Never.  Ever.  Ever.

They did something similar with a DA2 review I thought. Ultimately though, who cares. It doesn't change anything anyway, either they change the ending or lose a lot of loyal fans. Posing as one of us to shout it's great won't affect their opinion because apparantly their sold on it and it won't change ours.

If people really liked the ending, good for them. I'm glad at least someone found closure and satisfaction. We're all different and some people really will genuinely like how Mass Effect came to an end.

Using plants to "like" the game so that the company can point to them and say "see?!" is perhaps a possibility, but in that case, let's see them put up a charity drive and earn money for sick kids to prove their point. Yea, didn't think so.

Yeah, if some people did like it legitimately good for them,
but having paid people on the forums posting as fans just scream of unethical behavior.
Then again most of PRs dirty tactics seem that way to me.

I've thought about it long ago. It's just naive to believe otherwise.
It's a good strategy afterall... Ofc they are doing so lol, and that's not just bioware, that is a very common play...

There is no doubt in my mind Astroturfing has been going on for a while now. The best thing you can hope for is that everyone ignores them so their opinion is quickly swept away.

I wouldn't be surprised at all. If it's true, it's not really working. Maybe I'm overly suspicious, but a lot of the "WTF why is everyone so down on the end, it was all deep and satisfying and everything" posts just seemed...a little off. Either poor trolling attempts or people posing as fans. I'm not in any way saying that everyone who likes the endings is an idiot, or a sockpuppet, I just know it's what I'd do if I was trying to cover up the unholy ****storm that is the response to the ending.

I cant trust anyone now it could be them or it could be you reading this right now or it could be me
O GOD IT COULD BE ME
SOMEBODY HELP ME.

Just keep up the civil discussions, even with those who disagree with you. People who support the ending have as much right as us to post and explain their opinion, even if there's a chance they're being paid to do it. Make a calm, rational argument for why you think your opinion is correct, and people will see things for what they are.

They simply can't pay enough people to either drown us out or beat us in the polls.

I'm sure some are genuine. However I wouldn't be surprised if some were not. In the end, you can't tell so you should just respond to their assertions at face value.

Simply ignore them and hold the line.

Also, we need more people posting their opinions on the UNACCEPTABLE endings.

I don't necessarily dismiss it; in the day and age of fast moving social media, I'm sure that is going on. Frankly, a company would be stupid not to. As consumers, we need to just understand that's part of the game these days though - that's why arguing with them or other negativity is counter-productive.

Actually, just look at the big picture - if they're paying a 3rd party to do "drown out the fans who want a better ending"...um, they're not getting their money's worth.

Lol, OP, you're a bit naive. Did you look up any user review for just about anything on the net? Chances are half of those were paid for.

Penny posters is really low profile, you really should search a bit more, you can buy awesomely good reviews which everyone will believe.

All your post will achieve is to widen the gap between end-haters and the rest of the playerbase. Now if I say I'm okay with the endings all I will receive is that BW pays me for posting. Between being stupid, troll, retard, idiot, hater, after some wiseguy suing EA for a better ending my sympathy for the ending haters are getting thin.
