@Carlthestrange
LOL! I loved signs other than The Sixth Sense thought that was one of M Nights best!

By the way posters on the PR thread started a couple of days ago there is a youtube video that quotes game critics as saying this has been a tactic of companies for years. To send employees/representatives to slow/stop fan movements.

That being said are some people here paid by Bioware.......could be.

I won't attack every pro-ender as such and no one else should. They will go away if they are employees if we don't react to their posts/attempts!

I feel like if BW was really doing this, they would have deleted my thread by now.

I've gotta give them the benefit of the doubt.

Nobody's saying everyone who likes the ending is a plant. Just some of them.

This is a real marketing tactic that's used by real corporations all the time. Why is it so hard to believe that EA is one of them?

Yes, it is so hard to believe. Working in the game industry I know that it matters not. It would be a total waste of money. Having a free online game event is way more effective then planting 3-200 people to say the game is good.

Word of mouth is important tool in convincing people, but only if the word comes from people you trust. Because the opinion shapers are people you trust. So..yeah, unless the opinion shapers are the ones paid, then it is worth nothing to pay people to claim this or that.

I think EA and BW martketng people are likely smarter then to unnecessary toss out money on the window.

And I anew reference Occam's razor: "when you have two competing theories that make exactly the same predictions, the
simpler one is the better
." So I presume, some players simply liked the ending. I happen to knew a few personally.

I was getting suspicious about the Bioware rep who's been living in my closet, I'm glad this thread explains things for me.

To a point, I wouldn't doubt it after DA2. But still seems a bit far fetched.

Wouldn't you do this if you were trying to do damage control in a situation this bad?

That said, I don't think a few dozen people posing as happy customers, or spamming the IGN poll on FB, is going to put a significant dent in the real customer response.

I saw this on the Demand a Better Ending Facebook group. Someone named Marauder Shields posted it. Really no way to prove it's true but I thought it was worth posting here.

"ME3 fans please read: So I just made this Facebook name to post this
because I was afraid if I used my BSN/Origin name to post it on the
forums I'd get banned from all my games. If someone here posts on the
Bioware forums, please post this over there.

I have a close friend who works not with Bioware but with a third party that helps with
their public relations/fan community management. This friend
told me that they are being instructed to pose as fans on the Bioware
forums saying that they love the ending, love the game and don't want
anything changed etc. Obviously, the intent is to drown out the
negativity from most of us who actually hated the endings.

I can't confirm/prove any of this obviously since I've sworn not to reveal
anything further about it since this friend would rather not lose
his/her job. Hearing this just really ticked me off, and I had to tell
people."

Seems unlikely...but who really knows at this point?

It wouldn't surprise me. I've been expecting something like this and have tried to be on the look out for it. Standard political move.

I strongly expect there will be a plethora of BW/EA plants in the audience at PAX next month to ask scripted, softball, sycophatic questions.

Another move may be to plant *ill-behaving* people to falsely discredit those unhappy with the end.

Ehh. Not enough people on the forum like the ending as is, the odds of them posing as BioWare spies are thus even less. It wouldn't be constructive for a game developer to delude themselves into thinking the public opinion will change with a few posts that get washed away in a sea of discontent.

Deleting a thread is way too obvious. Insidiously creating fake counter-threads is subtle and partially effective...

Not surprising at all. I'd be more surprised if they didn't have people doing just that. If I wanted to try to defuse the situation without appeasing anyone that would be one of my tactics.

Really it comes down to how many of us will boycott future Bioware titles, and that we are making this a Bioware issue not Mass Effect issue, meaning this rage and distrust will trickle to all future releases. If Bioware wants to stay afloat they had better deal with this fast, Skyrim has DLC coming out soon.

Lawl. I have a friend who's mother's uncles brother is Inigo Montoya. He says Bioware killed his father. Prepare to die.

Seriosuly though,  of course they've been doing this.  EVERY company who has any presence on the internet has been doing this.  Look at amazon reviews that are clearly bull.  Sockpuppetry is as old as corporate forums.
There  is nothing new here.

UI do lvoe the fact how everyone accepts this, whilst the obvious response is, 'Yes we know, but your lying through your teeth about knowing anyone who works at Bioware.'

It's not unlikely, the best way to defeat something is from the inside.
