EA probally just wants this gone. Too bad.

I rather doubt that - there are some major profits to be made from releasing an alternate ending DLC. I mean, people are practically begging to give EA/BW their money for a "better ending."

Even if BW doesn't want it, EA likely does - they'll put pressure on BW to do it, and it'll likely happen. Then people can throw as much money as they want at them.

A true shame, that - the developers shouldn't be rewarded for their failure any more than they already have IMHO.

Perhaps, perhaps not. It doesn't matter. The people with the "I love the ending" threads are either:

1) BioWare
2) trolling
3) not really grasping how screwed up the ending is, regardless of which theory you believe in

In all cases their opinion is irrelevant and the best thing to do is ignore them.

4) would be newcommers and general action game players.

If I was any of the 2 I would have moved on already, to the next thing.

Edit: Also, I would actually do the same if I was a dev, if I was mad, that people don't understand my stuff, and would want to plant the seeds of thougth in the community.

Not really surprised about this. For all we know this post might also be a planted message so more of us turn to rage rather than civil criticism. After all this would allow them to dismiss us as flamers and haters.
So I hope everybody just keeps calm and not be surprised by "leaks" or similar things appearing that would try to enrage you.

If they are doing such things then they shall do it, but we have to stay civil.

I already assumed it was the case, it's standard procedure.

Anyway, there's no real way to tell the ones who genuinely like the endings from the ones paid to lke them, so let's not go on a witchhunt and let's keep cool and respectful of others instead.

This practice of "planting" is nothing new in PR. I know major bike companies do this. I know local car dealerships and other reputation-dependent businesses will often pay for people to post glowing reviews online. One of my friends in college was paid to, among other things, post positive reviews of restaurants in Chicago. Business is ugly.

With something that has so many statistics as this, however, 50000+ votes in that original poll, thousands of facebook likes on retakemasseffect3... Those sorts of things get washed away,

I will say that the vast majority of people saying they like the ending in these forums seem legitimate. They've clearly played the game, and they don't seem like canned opinions.

Just give us one real reason while that would benefit anyone?

Or did I just miss your sarcasm?

LOTS OF SPECULATION!

lol Man I doubt Bioware predicted the type of speculation would be about how much they sucked. They've shot themselves in the foot.

This isn't really news. Heck, I've no doubts that BioWare have "weeds" (intended & unintended) in their forum. Likewise EA; EA/BioWare's rivals.. the list goes on and on... and not just on this forum either; on any forum of interest.

I thought people knew about this sort of stuff. Its been going on for years. For new products
you start threads on forums/ post in facebook etc to start buzz about games, films, items and so on months sometimes before the "real" marketing begins. Post links to "leaks" etc steer talk when its needed.

For PR messes like this has turned out to be. You post against negativity. Say how great the devs have been. Divert away from the developer, point to publisher (goddess knows why when they are the ame thing in this case) time constrains and so on. You will find a few even post against the ending "but I liked this bit" and try and get some buzz back again for another part of the game.

On that note I really like the multi player though it could do with some more maps lol

No surprise here. Not sure about the source, but this is what companies do and Bioware does have a PR department that is paid to do their job when things like this happen. We really shouldn't get too upset about it, though. Even if they had planned some hidden true ending release down the road, this much of a negative fan response could not have been anticipated. Even announcing something outside of their planned schedule would have to be discussed and analyzed thoroughly and some sort of damage control needs to be attempted in the meantime.

I'm not trying to defend the companies here, or give false hope for planned ending dlc, but I am saying that we should all just remain civil, ignore pointless topics and continue to voice our feelings about the ending and what we want to Bioware/EA.

That's pretty typical to be honest. I sort of assumed everybody knew that. I guess not.

This is standard OP for PR damage control companies. It's not Biowares doing, if they contract a 3rd party PR firm they will most likely do this.

I've run into people on these boards today who are out-and-out hostile to any suggestion that BW bear responsibility for this mess. They're actively arguing aainst their own best interest - more value for no more money. So... astroturfing? Yep, I can believe it. When you run into someone like that, check the date they joined the forums.

Seems like a conspiracy theory... but then again it is something plausible.

I know for a fact that there are companies who pay people to write positive things about their products on forums, for example camera manufacturers. It's definitely not unheard of and it's a smart strategy.

The forums are riddled with Bioware/EA inflitrators of late. Look at the increase in ' why I love the ending....' posts, and the increase of ' the line will break' etc signatures.... Theres an organised effort to undermine going on here.

I hate finger pointing, but if you really have to do that, make sure to check their GAW rating, and achivements too. They might just be very stubborn supporters of BW.

A corporate account should not have many achivements or to high GAW rating.

I think this is true to a certain degree. There has been sort of an odd rise of people who "loved" the ending. There's probably some tomfoolery going about.

Or y'know they actually like it and accept some of the flaws of the ending?

To be honest, people who do like the ending are facing a losing battle against rabid one-view-is-right types of people like you two tbh...

After lying to us, having made the worst ending in video game history and ruined their reputation permanently - what do they have to lose?

Bioware has allready shown they have no shame, integrity or honor. Why would this be a "new low"?
