Honestly, I'm more excited for the time when Mrs. Caroline Livingstone is looking for VO talent so I can very regally throw myself in her direction.

Regarding the timeline for the making of the next game --can we have it somewhere in the middle of "rushed" and "take all the time you need"? It would be nice to have an incredible game due to years of work, but, some of us don't know how many years we have left due to illness, and I'd like to think I could see what happens with the next game before I go...

I'm playing on Ps3, i would like if mod was not only available for pc, can you do something about it, like make them available for console?

This is really beyond the purview of what we can and can't enable - it's happened before, certainly (I think one of the Unreal games allowed for mods on the PS3? Though I may be remembering something else, which happens surprisingly often), but by and large consoles are a fairly closed environment when it comes to development.

I did the same with DAO. Once I learned the layout of the battle the rest was easy. A lot easier than DA2. Set battles are easy to defeat and hinders replayability because you know where the enemy is going to be.  I have a seven party team. Three rangers, three pets and a tank. The party simply steamrolled everything in its path. I specifically created parties with no mages to get a challenge out of DAO. If you took a three mage party and a tank into DAO it really was a cakewalk.

For me DA2 is the easier game,  Since the spawn points of the waves are always the same, and can eventually expect it, especially after  a playthrough you know where like a higher ranked person would spawn. You can steamroll DAo with certain classes, and a number or such and such. Even with just a dual wield warrior i could do more with him than a AW or other mages who people always claim or OP, with DA2 same thing, only difference was it was more bothersome, because of how tedious it was chopping down HP, especially  more so when it was patched so that you couldnt deal more than a set % of dmg to bosses. Daggers though still was ableto bypass it sort of speak. Reall the only positive thing i would take out of DA2 combat is the smoothness of it, throw out everything else.

I would hope that based on Mark's statement about revisiting the 'vault' of older games, the dev team realise that the whole basis for DAO in the first place, was that it was to be a spiritual successor to Baldur's Gate 1&2.
By that logic, I was really hoping that DA2 would continue the similarity - with an epic scope and engaging characters that weren't super cliched, and clever, tactical combat.

For me, I found that DA2 wasn't so much a 'dumbing down' of the BG games and DAO, but rather had a trimmed down 'expansion-pack' vibe.
It didn't feel as grand and somehow it didn't feel... 'heavy'. By that I mean that the combat was really arcady looking, the dialogue mostly meaningless, it was less philosophical, less dark and mature (mature =/= boobs, dark =/= family dying).
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE Bioware, restore my faith in your company!
After DA2 and ME3's ending/face import pains, and the general feeling that you are alienating your core original fans by making rpg-lites with no soul, no feeling of mattering, I need something that reminds me of why I have a shelf stocked with your games - right back to Shattered Steel and BG1!

The cancellation of everything DAII is the first real sign of hope for DAIII, imo of course.

Infamous and Little big planet had a "tool kit" to create content (missions, characters, lvl designing etc). Maybe some other games too. Anyway people need to understand the difficulty of bringing those kind of features on console. After all, games are created with PC's

Seriously, all this talk of DA3/DAO2/whatever's next(DAO2 is just my hope, mind you) is making me want to go back to DAO hard.

Like, so hard.

I've got the ultimate edition on PS3 (which I found freaking unplayable to be honest), then I bought it on PC and it's just sitting there, waiting to be downloaded... If it weren't for that 25 gig download...

You're right, of course. Though in both cases, they were done with tools designed specifically for consoles (and, in both cases, it was for PS3-exclusives, which I imagine gave them a bit of negotiating room). The Unreal reference was mostly to do with that title allowing you to actually create content on a PC and bring it to a PS3 - though, again, I may be imagining that it happened.

I´m thinking about getting the dlc´s for DA2 and give them a run. The reviews are quite nice compared to the core game and I trust your (well, not yours only, the whole comunity) criteria.

While we're on the topic of creation-

How about being able to craft weapons and armor? Anything we can do to improve how that's done?

Would be nice to get some kind of skill that gives you the ability to forge/repair/improve your weapons actually. (a bit like skyrim) Would had depth and some hours in the game :P

I won't lie, I'd love to be able to forge my own weapons.

You know, so instead of equipping "The Legendary Blade of Ko'Hihre" I can equip a blade I made, modify it so that its the best sword in the game, give it a badass name, and make it legendary through MY story.

Instead of a blade being legendary for being used in a war in the past, lets make a blade legendary because WE used it ourselves.

Would be super cool if the game autogenerated a page in the journal for your weapon. Or alternatively, after you accomplish certain feats in the game, the journal dictates what weapon you used the most during that level or what weapon dealt the killing blow.

At the same time, that could lead to frustration. Eh, scratch everything I said past crafting your own weapon.

I think some people really want a voiced protagonist, some people really don't, and then some people just want a good game - which you can get from either pathway.

I've usually been in the camp where I can go either way, but go on youtube and compare Alistair's romance scenes from Origins with Kaiden's from ME3. Even though Alistair is way cooler thean Kaiden, there's a special feeling to femshep's scenes Kaiden's that isn't there with Alistair - and its all due to femshep having a voice .

I'm sure that's true when you're watching a video someone else captured from the game, but in the case of the Warden, the person who was role-playing that scene may have had a much richer experience from the role-playing without the voice.

It is a personal preference.

Enjoyed DA2s combat system and plot. Liked the comments about Bioware looking closely at Skyrim. A large open world with less linearity would be a great start. You've created a large world to populate. Liked the ability in DA:O to customize ALL characters, including the hero of Ferelden. Enjoyed the size and quality of the DLC in DA:O and it might be worth returning to this if DA III is forthcoming. Skyrim's flexible character creation doesn't do as much for me. Liked Dragon Age's system and thought it retained a lot of flexibility within the character types.

Anyway, looking forward to Dragon Age III if it happens.

EA would have to work out an agreement with Sony and Microsoft to make that happen. At the present moment neither allows thrid party content unless it is exclusive to the platform. It also requires tools made for the consoles.

Understood. Like all artists (yes, developing games is an art form. Let's leave it at that...) we always want infinite time to create something and really never want to part with it. But in the end, we also want to share our work with everyone and have to let it go. I can't answer how long this will take, but once it just right, we'll send it off.

For now, we'll try to share as much as we can and show off what we can as it's being developed. I hope this will help.

Actually, I'm curious - what frustrations do you foresee as a result of this sort of thing?

One of the neater things a game can do for me is allow me to take a 'run of the mill' weapon and turn it into something special. Particularly when it's staggered so that you aren't able to completely upgrade it right away, but instead have to invest in that weapon over the course of the game. Kind of a 'where do legendary weapons come from' sort of deal.

I second this opinion John, though a crafting bench with the asetic of a blacksmiths shops could certainly be a cool adition to the game allowing you to craft specific mudain weapons into items even more powerful. That's one of the cool things about the elder scrolls series is the ability to make something special and your own.
