I feel like a part of me died tonight, knowing that I'll never be able to hear my Hawke again.

Cameos! Cameos!

Imagen your custom Hawke like how you built him coming up to your character from DAIII and talking to him for a few seconds.

That would blow my mind.

I know they couldn't do it with the Warden since he wasn't voiced, but Hawke? It can be done sir. Bioware has the technology.

This has to happen at some point!

I think there are some people who are dreaming, come back to us. There won't be another DAO. The only thing we can hope is that DA3 won't be exactly or too close to DA2, something new.

DA2 was Bioware trying something new, and look how that turned out.

I think that's why a lot of us are hoping they go back to DAO and use that as the framework for the next installment.

I not hoping that Bioware will go back to something like DAO. I prefer going back to something like BG but with the improvements I like in DA2 (voiced protagonist, faster combat, better skill trees IMHO).

Ok, so the voiced protagonist is confirmed. That's cool.

Why must it come with a dialogue wheel with paraphrasing, though? At any rate, I thought DA2 did this very well, with the symbols. It made flirt lines very clear, as well as, charm, intimidate, and all of the other flavors. I thought these were adequate. Choice dialogues also had it's own symbol, if I remember correctly? I never really got confused about it. I'd much rather see the lists of text, though. That seemed like the best option, imo.

Fully agreed with many others, the dialogue wheel should go. If you want a voiced protagonist then at least bring back the traditional text lines. The dialogue wheel always felt like a hokey me-too and just serves to limit options and display.

Oh and BTW, just as an aside, I still play DA:O and ME1 & 2 like freaking crazy. At the same time I also play Fallout 3 and NV a lot too. Good games never really get old. DA2 I played once and then deleted. ME3 I've played once and it's still on my hard drive because I played a little Multiplayer. It will stay there for a little while longer but if nothing is done about the ending that's getting perm-deleted as well.

You can tell which games are the greats. If you have the ability to see how long you've played them (which was nice when I could buy Bioware games via Steam [stupid EA/Origin]) you can see hundreds of hours logged compared to, maybe, 40 hours with others. My DA:O log time is around 300 hours now and my Mass Effect hours are ... god I don't even want to admit it.

I think he's talking about finding hidden passages, figuring out if an item is magical, or stealing things from people and shops like you could do in Baulders Gate and Never Winter Nights and other non combat options. I would recomend you go back and play those two games to get a feel of what he's talking about. If you haven't play them again to referse your memory on those abilities.

A bit like MotA DLC. The puzzles were fun, but don't put them all in one place.
I think we should bring back the original traps as well. They were a lot more deadly in DAO than in DA2, or at least they looked that way. My ankles still ache from seeing my Warden stepping onto so many of them during a darkspawn attack.

We will try to bring some closure to Hawke's story but likely not in a playable form. Originally we had planned to do an expansion pack but had to stop to focus on what we are working on now.

So the people that actually liked Hawke's story are completely boned then? We don't get a chance to shape their end in any way? :crying:

Yes, I was a bit dissapointed that they weren't wearing masks when we visited that Orlesian. They always wear them in even non-formal occassions as part of their game. I was so excited to see them but was let down enourmously.

Maybe they'll make some 5-10 min blue/green/red DLC for you some day.  ;)

I guess we're not going to win with the silent protagonist, but can we still see the return of the text wall? Save the text wheel for Mass Effect, please...

As I said many times, I hate "Hello" being." Hello there! I want set you on fire!"

Deeper dig: is the issue that you didn't know what you'd say, or that you did or said something unexpected?

I'll admit that I'm biased; I don't like reading a choice and then hearing the exact same thing read aloud to me. However, I can absolutely agree with concerns about being blindsided as per your example above.

I don't know why you can't have a little of both- I for one would love to have more puzzles and such- but not at the expense of combat. I love the combat of both games....but maybe even some side games like in Fable. (*ducks from people throwing rotten food at her*) Just saying.

I think a compromise then? The ability to have text wall for the players who want it? A throw back to the old days would be really cool. It's not hard programing either to have a style of text button for how you would like it to be presented.

A main advantage of the text wall was that our response - and the exact meaning of it - was better understood by the end user.

Here's an idea:

Why don't you have the short word option on the wheel or list and if they press a button, it will show them exactly what their character will say in full. So the people that don't like to be surprised, don't have to be, but you still get to retain a pretty look to it and get to not be blindsided if you so choose to be.

Would be appreciated if class specific dialog could alter the dynamics of a conversation, for example if your character is a blood-mage, then he or she could use a Blood-magic response to avoid combat, or if you are playing as a templar then you might have a conversation option that allows you to weaken a hostile mage.

Beauty and the Qunari Ballroom Scene

A noble woman known for her odd tastes in men walked into the ballroom with a Qunari, he's wearing what appears to be fine silk and he grimaces as she pulls his hand toward the dance room.

"I do not see the purpose of this place, woman. There's too many fake faces."
"Come on, dear. Don't be a spoil sport, it'll be fun."
"My role in the Qun is not to dance."
"Come on, dear! I'll have the elves polish your horns again when we get to the estate."
"This pleases me, I accept your proposal."

And there were times where the paraphrase often ended up being what I wanted to say rather than the actual line.

A romantic dance with your LI.

DO IT, BIOWARE.

And while you're at it make Varric that LI *hint hint nudge nudge because I haven't said it enough*. I want him to dance with my tall human. It'd be adorable. <3

I like puzzles ( the puzzles in Mark of the Assassin were good along with the Wending Wood Stone puzzle in Awakenings) and the riddles that came from the riddle mouths in BG2 (down in the Spellhold). I like the ability to search, set traps and stealth. Stealth in MoTA was good. It needs refinement, but it was not as unbelieveable as stealth in Origins. I am glad to see Mike and you coming to the forum to listen to us and tell us what you can about the Next Thing.
I still what to see some closure on Hawke's story even if it is just the new protagonist stumbling over a gravestone with the word Hawke on it. You can have someone there to relate the last moments of Hawke.

I was hoping for some new content, and Tallis needed those blank armor buffs filled in.

DA2 had some good points, like no level cap, better melee, mages used staves in a more realistic way, and you didn't need outrageous stats to earn a skill.

But I'm looking forward to DA3...bring the tactical camera back, and please don't reuse environments - that should have ended with ME1.
