the whole artstyle was terrible. When i just looked at that elve woman (forgot her name) she looked terrible. The artstyle in Origins was soooooo much better.  The one in DA2 looked like a bad bad bad bad comic.
So thats it for today. And the combat people I will read the stuff you wrote probably tomorrow and answer why you guys are wrong XD

I disagree. I mean, it was very different and inconsistent but I much prefer the elves of DA2 to the elves of Origins, actually. Personal preference.

The characters were indeed much more cartoonish and I do prefer the more human-esque look in Origins BUT it suited the style of the game. It was as much a change in the lead art guy as anything. Can't do anything about that.

A thankfully unused character model for Morrigan in DA2. Personally I think it's a little unfair to cite it, as it sometimes is, considering its status as unused. Perhaps it went unused for a reason.

Ah! Evil moon!

I miss LoZ. I haven't played them in so long.

Anyway, I too think that image shouldn't ever be cited. I think Bioware knew that.... creature... needed to be shot, burned in a holy inferno, and buried in a chain-wrapped coffin 10 feet under the earth.

There was a fan-made Morrigan made a few months back that I thought looked great.

I have to agree with eyeofastorm. Seems like Bioware doesn't really care about our input. We say what we'd like to see and they respond with their mind made up already pushing our ideas aside. Majority of the people on here agree we would like to see more DA:O and we all know that's not going to happen. As Bioware will not "go back 180 degrees" even though that's exactly what they should do if they want to have a successful game. I mean hello? DA:O was a bigger success than DA2. Continue to do what you prefer then and see how many people purchase DA3.

Guys, if anything I've said is construed as "pushing aside" your ideas, I absolutely apologize. The things I listed out are decisions that we've reached so far, and had already communicated previously, I simply wanted to reiterate them so that we could focus on things that are still very open to feedback (which is to say, virtually everything). I'm very happy to see some of the responses around the dialog wheel, for instance, as there may very well be things we can do, and I don't know if we could have gotten to some of the suggestions without first placing the discussion around there being a voiced protagonist.

My only hope is that you consider my suggestion earlier, with Prince's added comment, about the option to have the same basic concept of the short dialogue, but be able to press the right arrow and be able to see what exactly your character will be saying.
So it wouldn't be a surprise about what your character is going to say if you didn't want it to be. You could also still incorporate special dialogue for certain class specializations such as Blood Mages or Templars (as suggested by someone else). And, if you're a rogue, your could have what you did in DA2 for that one particular scene when you're getting the poison in a side quest. Where you are able to use your wit to control the situation and avoid conflict (or as Varric often did). What we choose to be in the game should reflect on how we act in certain situations.

Q: Will I play my... {protagonist here]... again?
A: Again, reiterating something from a few months back, our goal is that new major installments in the DA games will have new protagonists and, generally, tell new stories. It's safe to assume we'll do that for "The Next Thing™", and then we'll evaluate again. Starting over with new characters provides us a chance to tell new stories in the place and time of the Dragon Age, rather than just one character's story.

I disagree with this, one-hundred percent.

The Warden's story was tide up nicely and I felt a sense of closure. With Hawke's story it ended on a cliff hanger and left me with no closure at all and numerous questions. You developers can write up a story/explination about what happened after, but it does not feel closed still, it feels more like a force sense of ending on a story that just started.

There are people (like me) who do not mind playing the same character from game to game. It allows you to build your character's life the way you wish.

[snip]

I respect your opinion, but I can't agree. I highly prefer a new protagonist in each new game. I did not want the Warden in DA2, either. A new area, a new story, new characters to meet, a new PC to mold -- I would not give it up to continue an old character, especially Hawke*. Starting a new character is utterly intoxicating to me, just like starting a new game, a new movie, or a new book. Each new character has so much potential.

I'm not arguing that Hawke's story in-game was elegantly-ended, but I totally do not want to continue Hawke's into DA3.

* I liked Hawke, but many did not. I also think that many of the more interesting storylines Hawke could present would be difficult to wrap up satisfactorially.

I personally like the features of the elves in DA2 because it gave them more character other than "humans with knife-ears". But I also feel like they can still improve on them and give them less of a cartoony feel.

I want gay parents and real children for the sequel, not just tiny adults. Make the world feel lived in, not just a vessel for fetch quests.

The color "blue" might also be a nice change of pace.

Now THAT is a very good point. However, that face and look isn't emulating her Origins look at all. The devs are showing another side to her in DA2.

Oh hey that's one thing I forgot to add, how AWESOME Flemeth was in both games.

Indeed. I felt they suited their derogatory term, "knife-ears" much more in 2, actually. I also agree on the cartoony feel. Though I can forgive it due to the change in art style which is due to change in art director. I do much prefer the more realistic look, too, though.

gay people can't have children. And sadly marketing characters as openly gay causes controversy a la ME3. However openly Bisexual seems to attract people.

Perhaps they could also proportion their bodies a little bit better? If you ever romanced Merrill, you would know what I mean. I feel like her head is way too big for her tiny little body.

I´m with you on that one. Many will say that DA:O lacked "personality". Maybe so because it reminded me a lot from the real world. :)

From weapons with credible sizes to movement that was not like running-on-walls kung fu films or Goku´s kamehameha for warriors.

Ah, but that makes them more different from humans, don't you think? I liked how teensy they were, personally. I like off proportions to the human eye for a different race.

Oh, but one thing I want to say: THE HANDS, GUYS. THE HHAAAAANNNNDDDSSS!

Speaking of romances, one thing I'd like to see is a little bit more WORK involved in them, I mean first of all, I found myself either having to be a complete **** to Anders or telling him I love him till the day I die pretty much five minutes into the romance. And then that was it for the whole rest of the act and the entire act 3. One of the reasons I prefer the romances of Origins was just being able to have fun banter. And please, besides Cullen, who I completely can understand having issues, how about a male companion who isn't a complete whiny douchebag. :)

I had to take off the picture because it just made me cringe way too much. Ugh, yes, please get better at making the hands.

And I like the tiny bodies, I just wish their heads weren't so big in comparrison. I feel like Fenris is the only one that was proportionate and had the most realistic feel to him, which is odd since he was covered in lyrium.

I haven't read that other replies, but I'm sure you've heard every possible permutation of opinion. For me, though, it just boils down to this:

Make a game like the first one that most people loved, instead of the second one that many people (myself included) didn't like or hated.

It might sound glib, but it's true.

I'm pretty picky about which games I choose to play, and was blown away by DAO, so I've never been as disappointed by a game in many, MANY years as I was by DA2. It felt small, repetitive, rushed, and broken. It felt rushed and cheap, which is what a BioWare game should *not* feel like. It did not allow for multiple outcomes, and forced major decisions on you for the sake of keeping the game simple. When I came to the end of the game and realized it actually was over so quickly, I couldn't believe it.

In short: Make a BioWare game, not an EA game.

As a person that's often romanced Merrill -- well, really all but one time -- if you're referring to the scene where she's in bed that's more a problem with the cutscene rendering then her actual body.

If you mean when she stands up, well then I can't quite recall what her proportions were there. But I've always seen them as proportional.

^ Yeah some of the animations made the bodies a bit stretched or off, I remember now.

i so so so so hope that we get more than one voice! God i really didnt like male voice and i only sorta liked the female voice! Then all my characters sounded the same!

Honnestly i think its really silly if you wont give us more than one voice you wont give us the silent option just for the RPing factor.

Yes. I meant when she was in bed. Besides that she seemed fine. I find her to be completely adorable outside of that one scene.
