Is it me, or is there quite a few similarities with ending of ME3 and the scene near of the end of Contact?
- The character of Jodie Foster loses consiousness in her space pod and is transported through a wormhole where she goes on a sort visionquest and talks to an alien lifeform. Shepard loses conciousness (momentarily?) and is mysteriously lifted up on top of the Citadel where he talks to the catalyst.
- For Foster's character, the alien takes shape in the form of her late father. For Shepard, the catalyst takes shape in the form of the boy.
- Foster and Shepard can be viewed as representative of mankind and mankinds ability to overcome limitations. Foster's character is told by the alien this was a first step for humanity in joining the other spacefaring aliens. This experience could be viewed as some kind of test or acknoledgement of worthiness. In Shepards case, the ending of the Reaper cycle was a test of worthiness for him and his cycle.
-When the Jodie Foster character goes back to earth, she tries to convince of everyone what she saw, but no one believes her because she was unconcious during most of the trip. Though she is adamant that she saw what she saw, she can't be sure. The losing conciousness part could play into some of the indoctrination theories.
