This guy is competent. I just read his DA2 review. While I don't agree with the rating, everything he says about the game is spot on.

I`m not a native english speaker so I have my difficulties expressing what I think and feel about the ending of ME3.
Luckily this review speaks for me. Saves me the trouble to express myself.

I just have to quote this again,
"....and the taste of decay it leaves in the mouth cripples the otherwise impeccable quality of what came before, poisoning even nostalgia against it."
So true, and so well expressed.

A reviewer that finished the game.
Finally.

Great review, thanks for the link. Deserves to be widely-read. And I hope the devs not only read it, but actually think about it.

I think they will. That's why I put the quote in the title. I think there's nothing they wanted less than an ending that crushes dreams, and they will want to know why it comes across that way. In a way that even nostalgia is tainted even. This ending is a mindbogglingly epic blunder. If they fix it I won't hold it against them, because everyone makes mistakes. But fix it they must.AtlAggie wrote...

Look what happens when a critic doesn't rely on corporate funding as a source of revenue.

Problem is you don't feel it or even care any more when you get the dues ex. It's not whining about not having a warm and fuzzy, it's people upset about the writers violating a long accepted writing taboo and for no good reasonncknck wrote...

This conclusion is on the short list for "things that ruin dreams", right up there with “discovering that Santa isn’t real
Im glad that the reviewer finally finds out that Santa doesnt exist. Seriously. I hope i didnt hurt anyones feeling by quoting this revelation. Mass Effect is an "M" rated game. M for mature... Real life is not shiny. And so are important decisions. ME3 got it precisely right, if these users actually feel it. Great work Bioware.
Other than killing the story. There were many points where they could have stopped before starchild, said this is the end, everyone dies but so do the reapers, life goes on(which is all they do after starchild anyway) and people wouldn't be even a fraction as upset/disappointed. The issue is quality not content.

I've seen this posted a few times, it's a very well written dissection of the ending faults.

"A few nights ago, I finished Mass Effect 3. As the credits
scrolled I again sat silent in the dark, dumbstruck by what I had
beheld. Not out of the bittersweet satisfaction that comes with the
conclusion to any story, but in the confusion and anger that occurs when
you’ve witnessed a crime you could do nothing to stop."
So true, this was more or less my exact reaction.

You know, this whole thing ME3 has had one positive thing come out of it from my standpoint.
I was starting to believe that the people who demanded a grim ending no matter what were the majority. In my mind, it signaled an end to heroic storytelling and the beginning of a phase of drab and depressing storytelling.
I'm glad to see I was wrong. The reaction to ME3's endings proves my fears were unfounded.

I heartily agree with most of the points covered by the review.
I think he manages to give an eloquent overview of a lot of the reasons why the ending is so wrong.

It's annoying how anyone that doesn't agree with how they feel about the game is paid off by Bioware, the detractors just can't handle opinions that don't reflect their own

It does ruins dreams. That's why Martin Luther King Jr. hated ME3's ending.
