I romanced Morrigan when I first got her in my party. I didn't have Leilana yet. I met Leilana later, and decided to pursue Leilana. Jealosy ensued, which is to be expected. However, I wanted to try and maintain good releations between both.

I picked Leilana in the end. I broke up with Morrigan, who disapproved quite a bit. I then gave her a bunch of gifts she loved, and her approval jumped up with me again. Now Leilana is insisting that I'm sleeping with Morrigan again, and Morrigan is offering my dialogue options to kiss her again.

So even though I already went though this spat between the two, and clearly picked one in dialog options, the romantic relationship with Morrigan seems to have recreated itself automatically just because her approval rating of me is high enough.

Shouldn't the game differentiate between a high approval rating and romance, especially given that confidence talents are tied directly to approval rating?

The net effect of giving gifts to Morrigan again (including a plot specific gift that prompted a dialog exchange) is that I had to choose between the two again, and lose approval with both.

happens with all chars, even the male elf rouge. get them to high enough so they start having weak knees for you and whomever your with gets annoyed....jealousy.

it sucks a little as you cant keep everyone's approval high for bonuses (if they can romance with you you have to keep them under 75~ or 'break up' with them which drops them back to 60~). but thats life, jealousy is a b....

I thought I would have that problem too, but I stayed with Alistair until he dumped me (boo-hoo I wanted to be queen...lol). Then I went on to Zevran and and Alistair didn't mind. Even at the end Alistair & I both said we wished it had worked AND Zevran agreed to stay with me in Denirim. I don't know if all relationships in the game allow you a way out, but I found one.

You don't unlock a romance achievement unless you actually choose to have a romance. I'm not sure why the game suddenly thinks that I have a romance with Morrigan again just because the approval is high. It doesn't keep track of previous dialog options that I specifically chose Leilana. I consider that a bug.

honestly...if you break up with a girl and give her lots of presents to smooth things over, jealousy will ensue. I bet Morrigan is helping feed rumors to Lel anyway.

Is Bioware trying to tell me that Morrigan is "buy"-sexual?

You're lucky. I wanted to change from Morrigan to Leilana, but I must have said the "right thing" to Zeveran, as the game thinks I'm in a romance with him.

Not that there's anything wrong with that...

So that is an option. I was wondering about that.

I don't mind the option for same-sex romance. To each their own. But I thought Bioware said they weren't including any in DA:O. I'm not sure if that is a bug, or intentional.

It's not a bug. The ability to have a same-sex "romance" does purposely exist. The possibility of it does require that the NPC in question actually is into that, of course. Not all of them are.

While I, personally, had no interest in a same-sex "romance" I applaud BioWare for including the choice among the numerous options for "romances" and even the possibly controversial backstories for some of the NPCs.

Once Romance starts, you can be "on again - off again" with the NPCs. Did you expect juggling 2 or 3 romances at a time would be easier than real life?
