''Darrah went on to reveal that there was going to be an expansion pack for Dragon Age 2 called Exalted March. "There were even shirts!" he shared, but "other DA opportunities came up" and prevented the expansion ever happening.''

Would of quite liked an expansion to be honest, oh well. Let's hope DA3 turns out to be great :)

Just reading some of those tweats at https://twitter.com/#!/Mike_Laidlaw myself.

Also some interesting tweats that actually answer some of the ME3 concerns, ie watching the feedback there and more visibility in the next DA product.

Have a read Image IPB

Wow, too bad. That noted, I wasn't planning to get anymore DLC after ME3's horrible ending anyway.

To be honest, I've been a bit antsy about playing anymore DA2 given how I lost three of my team, two outside of my control or intent even though I tried to get along with them and keep them happy. It just left a bad taste in my mouth. I like that actions have consequences but I felt that the thresholds were too high in these cases. No Isabela or a certain angsty elven warrior. Also, while I like Bethany, I miss having a dedicated healer but there was NO WAY I could let Anders get away with what he did.

In fact, I wish that I could use him for the DLC since specifically it takes place before that faithful storypoint. Oh well...

Not sure what to think about this. I wasn't particularly fond of DA2, but quite a few people were. An expansion, provided it was a good expansion, would have added value to DA2. The title is very suggestive, perhaps they intended to make an expansion about the first stage of the Mage-Templar war (Divine proclaiming an Exalted March or something?).
It now sort of feels as if Bioware is very quick to abandon its creations when the going gets tough. It feels a bit, well, rudderless. <_<

Alas, poor Bioware. It seems they never can do anything right these days.
Fans...:(

Well, here's to hoping they make an all-out effort to produce a kick-ass DA3.

I don't know how I'll break the news to my XBox 360. She'll be heartbroken.

Nice. If they're not going back to a DA:O style game just let the franchise die with whatever dignity it had left after the hackjob sequel.

My PS3 is dancing with joy that it doesn't have to suffer through DAII again Image IPB

They have 3 pretty unsuccessful games in a row - Dragon Age 2, Tortanic, Mass Effect 3. It is not surprising that they have cancelled Dragon Age 2.5.
They need to do something really epic to return love of fans. Or their reputation will be lost forever.

Red the news a few hours ago and have mixed feelings about it.
I still hoped Bioware would finish what went wrong with DA2 before they abandoned it completely.

Or maybe they really listened to the DA fans and want to fix everything with DA3.

On one hand I hope that there will be a new game soon, on the other it would scare me if it came soon. The danger would be that it's going to be another rush job and not the jewel that it could be.

Mass effect 3 is auctually very successful it's just the ending most people take issue with. Dragon age 2 while not as popular as DAO by any means was still succesful.

This is dissapointing as the story just goes out like"they vanished into the hills" To summaerise the truely Theadas shattering events were the Qunari attack on Kirkwall,Mage uprising, Releasing the magister and discovering the Qunari agent list. but how does this connect to the champions and wardens dissapearence?.

Were left once again with no closure :(

Shame, would've enjoyed being Hawke one last time. I wonder if it'll ever be clarified what happened to him/her after Kirkwall, or if that's just left to imagination. I doubt Exalted March was going to be the story of how Hawke bailed on the international incident she propogated to go sailing with Isabela, after all.

Guess I'll be waiting for my residual DA2 enthusiasm to turn into (I assume) DA3 enthusiasm...

I wonder how far off it is.

I really do not get where people think that Mass Effect 3 and DAO were not successful (and I mean financially). Now if you want to say it did not sell as many copies as DAO I will agree with you. unless you have a mystic ball or inside knowledge that tells you how much each game cost compared to what it raked in I would hesitate about calling games unsuccessful.

Now if you want to say people where upset with certain aspects of both games I will agree with you.

While this is sad because I kind of liked DA2, I hope BW might release some beta combat build of DA3 so they can get fan input before if goes into finally production. I think if the made DA3 based on more fan input then previous games it will win a lot of the love back for them, hope they do a hybrid of DA:O and DA:2 take the best of both games for DA3. The combat and origin stories and level maps and open world feel from DA:O and the party banter, classes and talking main character from DA2. Need less auto dialog, more story and side quests, would love blacksmithing/sub jobs like WoW or Skyrim has.

Check the internets. Bioware is probably most The most hated game developer at this time.
This game is financially successful yes, but what will be with they next games? They have seriously damaged they reputation.

Hate is too stong a word in my opinion. I mean the whole retake Mass effect 3 movement is for love of the series. The only things wrong with mass effect 3 are the the endings and the fact that the prothean is a dlc character and not intergrated into the main story. A batarian dlc squadmate would have been more appropriate.

DA2 well...... it was just not DAO and it didn't help that it was rushed. But it was still an enjoyable if you could overlook the same areas

I agree, ME3 and SWTOR are certainly critically and commercially succesful, and it's even possible that DA2 (which got generally positive reviews - regardless of the many criticisms) made more money than DA:O, due to much lower development time and costs.

It's also clear that all three have seriously disappointed many players, as well as a notable minority of professional reviewers. Singly and collectively, they are a bit of a PR disaster, and might conceivably have dire consequences in the longer run.

Now, regarding Bioware's abandonment of DA2, I wonder if it may have something do with very disappointing DLC sales. I know I didn't buy any, nor do I intend to, something which I definitely did with DA:O.
To put it in a nutshell, I was willing to spend nearly 100 euros on DA:O, Awakening and associated DLC, but only 18 euros on DA2 (8 too much in my perception). If many other buyers had similar sentiments, that would have impacted DA2 DLC sales. Bioware may simply have concluded that finishing a DA2 expansion wasn't worth the financial expense.

Wait...wuh??

AN EXPANSION PACK WAS SCRAPPED?

Oh, c'mon! Wth, I have been waiting for an expansion for a year now. Thanks, Bioware, first the ME3 BS, and now this. I love what EA has done to you guys. It has taken away your soul.

(in less dramatic words, I am disappoint.)

Another missed opprortunity to wrap up a plot with many loose ends? How surprising.

If the devs keep this up I'm just going to stop caring.

I'm sad to hear that the expansion was scrapped, but I do wonder if something of its planned storyline will be in DA3. An Exalted March seems like a natural outgrowth from the events of DA2.

I also wonder if the Exalted March would have been tied in somehow with Sebastian's threat at the end of Act 3.

Good news at last. Better forget this abomination of DA2 and all that is related to it and start anew with all mistakes fixed.

Glad to hear this. DA2 was a disaster. They should move to the next thing asap, and make sure the same mistakes don't repeat themselves.

i wish they went through with the expansion. DAII wasn't my favorite game but they need to finish their stories and keep their promises. Some people cared! I would have played it. I was starting to like Hawke, just needed more bonding time.

I have feeling every EA published game will require origin now, even if they manage to not forcefeed MP in a SP game.
