Note that this silence is a result of customer loyalty. I.e. fanbase is assured that developers most surely will meet their expectations. See video with Bethesda Exec.producer - he said that they screwed up with Fallout 3 ending and fixed it in DLC. He admitted it. Not in lines like some fans were not as satisfied as everyone else, but plainly said - we screwed up with ending.

Oh Maker. At that very moment, Skyrim forum is full of posts calling out Bethesda for the many, many, sometimes game breaking bugs that still litter the game. There is hate for Skyrim, believe me. Sometimes deserved, sometimes not, but it's there. There is criticism too, on game mechanics and such, and all of this is met by a big solid wall of silence. It was the same with Morrowind and Oblivion, btw.

And the UBI forums? Customers loyalty, really? Assured that devs will meet their expectations?

We got acompletely different situation. Fanbase is disillusioned and no longer associates BioWare with top-producer of RPG genre. And after ME3 debacle people will be VERY sceptical with any upcoming releases. That calls for developers to reassure fanbase about what they are doing and what they are up to. Because that will directly influence pre-orders. And reassures fanbase that their fears are false.

Bioware devs have always communicated directly, even when there was no huge uproar and criticism tsunami as it was the case for DA2. You make it sound as though they only do it because they feel forced, and only in case of trouble. That's not the case, and that's not the easy way to go, unlike giving interviews in a safe space.

Seriously, you can say what you want about Bioware's position as a top-producer of the RPG genre, about their handling of things, their PR and so on, but belittling the way they deal with us is biased, to say the least. It's also very "damned if they do, damned if they don't".

BioWarEA intentions should always be to make money.  I understand that.  I accept that.  Some of their current products and methods however leave a bad taste in my mouth.

Will they change, I hope so.  I would love to have a DA3 game that well invested into and gives what most fans want.  Granted I know no game will ever give what all fans want, or even what  I want, but every  game is a give and take and again, I can accept that (up to a point of course).

Then we agree. Maybe the difference is I'm more optimistic than you are?

Strange you mention Bethesda as I've been playing Skyrims since 11/11/11 and love it.  Plus the FREE HD DLC for PC users was great.  The latest patch adding new features, for FREE.  Bethesda doesn't need to change anything in my book.

Playing it and loving it too. I should mention that we had a free HD DLC with DA2 too (much sooner, and one I can actually use, as opposed to Skyrim's which make my computer lag like whoa, but that's another story), and free patches. Beth has still to release an actual paid for DLC, so we'll see when we get there. To be clear, I wasn't comparing the games, which I don't think can be compared being in different sub-genres and all, I was comparing the devs' policy of communication with us, lowly plebe ;).

Guys, please remember that Bethesda is a private owned company by a company called Zenimax. As such, Bethesda can allow themselves to take longer to make their games, to make the games they want to make, since the public eye via the stock market isn't always on them like it is on EA, and by extension, Bioware.
EA is a public traded company meaning that each 3 month they need to show investors that they still are able to makie money. As such the ME3 game needed to come out in March 2012, since this is/was the end of EA's fiscal year.

As for Fallout 3 ending, yes the ending to that game probably were not well thought through, especially since you had a companion that could do what you was asked to do. (or rather what the player character was expected to do).

I played FO3 but I never had that problem because when I bought it I got the GotY edition with the DLC that basically fixed that part.  I agree though, that would have sucked.  Who knows, maybe ME3 will do the same.

I agree that deadlines seem to be BioWarEA's biggest obsticle.  Trying to beat those and please fans must be impossible.

Would of quite liked an expansion to be honest, oh well. Let's hope DA3 turns out to be great :)

Well... That's something new. It's a good thing because I almost write-off DA if there's stll no news about DA3. At least now, I know they're starting to work on it.

"With that, the next thing for the Dragon Age team members and I to do is hear from you, and not just on the forums, or Facebook, or Twitter ... The most valuable thing we can get out of those meetings is to hear from you on those same topics - what does Dragon Age mean to you, and where would you like to see it go? We're excited to hear what you have to say!
http://www.eurogamer...-the-next-thing

What does Dragon Age mean to me?
It means I have a role, a story and a world to live in. A roleplaying game which touch my emotion  where no other games have ever done. The character I roleplayed live within me. I cried.  I felt the anger. I felt the pain with every moment as the story progress.  And when it ended, it left me thinking back of everything I played as a person and a character. No matter what,  I knew then as I know now....  I am the character and Origins was my story. After three decades of roleplaying, I have finaly found an RPG that I want.

Where would I like it to go?
To go back to the very basic principle of the 1st edition of D&D RPG  - that You the player, are the character and this is your story. Who is your character and how you shape your story is entirely up to you. This can only be archived with truly flexible character system, dynamic choices and ....... just let the player interact with their companions freely. Just because few players cannot restrain themselves into finishing all available dialogue options halfway through the story doesn't mean eveyone else has to be punished.

Wait, what? If origin is some kind of spy program does this mean that if you have an Origin account allthough you play a game on a console but is connected to the internet this occurs too?

Its not a spyware program its like Steam and does no more than what Steam does.

I haven't got a clue what steam is either. I'm like a computer software virgin in that aspect

It  actually  does  a lot less than Steam  its  just  fashionable  to attack  anything  Bioware  EA  do  while everyone  else seems  to get  carte blanche .

in response to the MMO thing, i honestly dnt know much about MMOs i just know that many of the popular ones (World of Warcraft, for example) have a monthly or yearly fee. I wouldnt mind a DA MMO like WoW, i just want it to have nothing to do with the main series. i rly dnt want to pay a monthly fee just to see what happens to the characters in DA.

i think they just meant online multiplayer though (psn, xbox live, etc.) if so, i really dnt get why everyone is so against this. i would love to see if my character is still a badass when compared to other people's characters. i think i would prefer more, though, co-op in the main game, both local and online.

or im totally wrong about all of this and am just making myself look stupid =P

Red the news a few hours ago and have mixed feelings about it.
I still hoped Bioware would finish what went wrong with DA2 before they abandoned it completely.

Or maybe they really listened to the DA fans and want to fix everything with DA3.

On one hand I hope that there will be a new game soon, on the other it would scare me if it came soon. The danger would be that it's going to be another rush job and not the jewel that it could be.

I am jaded when developers say they listen to feedback.

Because they never do unless I honestly see it ..  but what feedback is the best anyway?

I hope though they do listen to what has been said and give us something worthy of the DA franchise

Not surprised in the least. Bioware is only a puppet whose strings are pulled by EA - why would they want to create an expansion to improve the fiasco known as DA2 and show that they care for their customers? It's much better to milk the DA universe by releasing another unfinished game. Hopefully one day EA's antics will bite them in the ass. They don't realize that it was classic RPG design of the original DA is what built their original fanbase and filled a niche in RPG market - instead they choose to focus on ADD console 12 year olds who lack patience to read through a single dialogue much less get through an actually complex game, which punishes stupidity..

Damned if they do, damned if they don't with wowpwnslol.

People like you need to examine your logic.

As it is, I would have bought this as I bought all the other DLC.

Mass effect 3 is auctually very successful it's just the ending most people take issue with. Dragon age 2 while not as popular as DAO by any means was still succesful.

This is dissapointing as the story just goes out like"they vanished into the hills" To summaerise the truely Theadas shattering events were the Qunari attack on Kirkwall,Mage uprising, Releasing the magister and discovering the Qunari agent list. but how does this connect to the champions and wardens dissapearence?.

Were left once again with no closure :(

Don't worry in DA3 you'll get the most artistic form of closure possible in video games.

Support Flemeth: Now you're all dragons.
Support Champion: Everyone but the mages die.
Support Warden: Make everyone a warden and now you're king.

GG.

You're kidding yourself if you think there's anywhere near as much vitriol toward Bethesda about bugs (most of which have long-since been fixed) as there is for DA2 or ME3's ending.

After Origins and DA2 getting the early hook, should we expect DA3 dlc to get scrapped for DA4?

I'd just like for Bioware to finish their projects and not leave things unfinished. It's like writing a book, but leaving out the last chapter to work on the sequel. Finish one thing before you move onto the next.

I enjoyed DAII, not as much as Origins but still enough to buy the DLC packs - and they were fantastic. I was hoping that more content as good as Legacy would be released. Alas, Hawke's story is over; I will miss his grumpy scowl and her snarky aura.

Still, if it means DAIII is getting full attention now, I'm excited already.

This is too bad. I can't really complain about them plugging everything they can into DA3, though.

Andraste's ass, I want that game!
