Yes, I agree that the ending is awful. I agree that BioWare should probably make a DLC of some kind to fix this issue. It kinda just doesn't sit right knowing Mass Effect ends leaving a bad taste of "wtf?" in your mouth.

But I believe that the people asking for a happy ending are asking too much. The ending SHOULD be changed, but we cant just ask Bioware to completely rework their story that they created. As bad as the ending is, I think its safe to say that we can maintain the fact that it is not a happy one. Shepard is dead. No human-turian babies running around, sorry. I just think while they should re-work the ending so that it makes sense (from both a literal and factual point of view) they shouldn't be forced to make it so that we can all live happily ever after with our LI on the beach. That would be wayyy to much of a cop out, and it would be transparent, knowing that it was only put in to appease raving fans.

But still, the ending makes me want to never buy a BioWare product again.
Strike 1: Awakening
Strike 2: DA2
Strick 3: Mass Effect 3 ending.

Sorry BioWare, you've struck out.

And why can't we achieve both a perfect happy ending and an horrible bad ending?
ME2 allowed for it

They are going to have to fix so much that adding a happy ending won't be that much work.

Me personaly I don't want the disney happy ever after with pink elephants & rainbows, I just want a bitter sweet ending & the option of Shep living. At the end of the day it's a game about choice & if you played through all 3 games as a paragon you should at least have the option for a semi happy ending. We aren't the only ones saying that either, i read somewere on the net that even a formar writer for Bioware said the same so we are'nt the only ones that think so.

It should be an option. But personally I'd like my Shepard to sacrifice himself. But still, all of the above should always be options.

i have a revolutionary idea that perhaps has never been done in the gaming industry but how about having MULTIPLE ENDINGS, yeah that's right, how something you can do during the game can have different endings, some happy, some sad and some terrible. I'M A GENIUS!

WHY???
Why do people want to force us not to get an happy ending??
If it's really hard to achieve why does it matter to you?
I'm sorry but each game in the franchise always had a really clichée amarican-movie happy ending, I don't see WHY this one can't have one too!

Except there's already an ending as it stands where Shepard is alive. No matter what ending you choose, it will never be 'happy'. The happiness of the galaxy doesn't hinge on whether or not Shepard is alive.

Loosing some great characters along the way in the game already has made parts 'bittersweet'.
First Ash
Then Mordin
Then Thane

+ any other NPCs along the way that we couldn't 'save' in time.

There's enough death throughout the entire games, really. Hows about some life? Maybe even little Shepard new lives.

I think people are wrong to assume that the dislike of the endings means we want a happy one, I just want a complete ending

BW made the entire franchise based upon the Mass Effect Relay system.

That system is now destroyed. I don't even know anymore....just help me cope

I wouldn't have minded if I got a bad ending or a bittersweet one on my first playthrough (even if I achieved the perfect ending in ME2 on the first playthrough) but I'm pissed off that I can't get ANY CHANCE of a happy one even with 20.000 EMS...

in aa game based on building up as much of an army as possible and struggling to make the right choices there should be both outcomes.

the ending should be bleak for the most part but here should also be a war to come out feeling "yeah i did enough, i made the right choices and the galaxy is better off for it )

I don't care about the happiness of the galaxy. I care about the happiness of my Shepard. And that happiness can be found with being with my LI. And as for Shepard being alive, that could have been his final breath for all we know.

exactly my point I would like a bitter sweet ening were Shepard lives, too many people from your crew have died already why can't Shep live. Right now the ending is just bitter I want bittersweet, I want Shep to be able to enjoy the friuts of her/his labour.

There should be a heartwarming perfect ending and a soul crushingly bad ending, but if Bioware insists on bittersweet then they need to remember the sweet next time.

I want the option to have a happy ending. Shepard has done so much for the galaxy(she even died once) she deserves some happiness with her LI

Jade Empire and KOTOR both let you achieve Evil/Good endings. I don't see why we couldn't have one for ME3.

Some people really do just want a happy ending.  For some people as long as Shepard could retire to the beach with his/her LI they wouldn't really care if the rest made no sense at all.  Other people just don't want the relays destroyed.  Others just want some plot holes fixed.  Others want more closure.  This is one of the problems BioWare is going to have if they decide to fix the ending.  Most people might agree that they don't like the current ending, but they also don't agree on what would make a "good" ending either.  So, unless BioWare is willing to dump a ton of money into it and write like 50 different endings, no matter what they do someone is not going to get what they want.

I honestly don't think this outrage is about "happy" ending vs. "sad" ending. I think it's "good" ending vs. "bad" ending.

People aren't up in arms about Mordin or Thane dying. It's because those deaths were properly built up to, properly executed, and were quite moving and satisfying.

So they should change the ending to make it work for you but those who want a happy ending should be left out eh? That's an interesting perspective, I believe the word I would use to describe that is selfish.

For me I want people who want a devastating ending to get that just as bad as I want my roses and lollipops ending. Choice my friend, choice.

What an absurd idea... how can we have an artistic speculative ending if your choices actually have an affect?
