I do feel sorry for them. They obviously put a lot of effort into the game and it shows. Had they released a mediocre game, I would have gotten to the end and thought, "well that sucked… what should I play next?" They didn’t though. They brought me on an emotional trip right to the end and then allowed it to come crashing down. They obviously did a lot of things right though for my reaction to the ending to be so strong that it retroactively destroyed all of the good feelings I had about the franchise. So while I feel sorry for them, I, a fan of Bioware since 1998, also feel sorry for myself.

Sure, I feel sorry for the horde of fans that are angry at them, but they did screw up.

I feel bad for them, but I can't help but think that they're trolling us. The endings AREN'T the end, and this is some sort of campaign for expansion, free or paid, that will offer further closure. It just went south further and faster than they'd thought it would.

That said, they don't deserve this. Not yet. They've made a lot of great games, and their missteps have been so minor that they don't warrant anything close to what we're seeing. This "fan" reaction is a travesty, and people like BearcatPrideEZF on the first page are customers well lost.

No

They shoot them self in the foot with ME3

before ME3 it was: "WHOOOOOOOO! bioware makes a new game!!"
no its: "Holy **** lets hope they don't screw it again."

and by taking reviews out of you tube by Acta/copyright and what ever means it gets worser with the censoring.

Bioware wil be know as exampel for other companys how NOT TO DO IT.
They wantet a place in history now they get it.

Very.

They aren't the enemy. But, we disagree, and this is the only way we can let Bioware, and EA know what we want, and give it the power it needs to get through.

Doesn;t mean we have to like it.

They have my money, and the product they promised to deliver wasn't as described (aka, they deliberately LIED about many things pre-release).

Tell me again what i'm supposed to be sorry about?

Yep, exactly right.

Before: WOOO! Time to call in sick!
Now: Uh, I'll wait.

ME3 will be remembered forever... for its ending: the first in history to poison nostalgia for the entire series against it.

I feel sorry for the people at Bioware that did their jobs well. The art team, the animators and the programs all did a fantastic job. The writers did a great job but blotched the finished, and the promotion was, at best, smoke up our collective rear ends and, at worse, patently misleading.

I also feel really sorry for the community managers that get criticized a lot for things they had no control over.

I don't feel sorry for Bioware, the company though. It's a company! It deserves no mercy whatsoever. They need to deliver on their promises and if a substantial portion of their consumers have a problem with what they produce, they need to address that.

So far they seem cautiously attempting that, which is good. However, until they actually act there's no point in giving them the benefit of the doubt.

If you like the endings, that's great. If you don't, that's fine, too.

Not really. ME3 is a great game, but that ending just ruined itfor a lot of people, Bioware included. I don't feel bad for them because they went ahead with the ending and have to face the consequences of their actions.

I would feel sorry for them I would see that they tried to make a proper ending. That what we have in ME3 is not only illogical and non satisfying, but it also looks like they didn't put any effort in it. Look at cut scenes for example. They are just one cut scene, but recolored. Or final battle on earth - I was collecting war assets for a whole game, but in the end I fought in completely empty city. I feel like they didn't finish that game. Like they needed six more months to make it proper.

But somehow I still trust them. I trust them that was the last that big mistake. After all those years of awesomeness they deserve it.

No, they still get paid at the end of the day.

But I do think they get unnecessary hate. The ones who had nothing to do with deciding on how to end the game.

They worked so hard on Mass Effect 3 and now everyone's being mean to them because of the ending.  Could you imagine what it would be like if all of your fans suddenly turned against you?

I imagine that would be very difficult. However, that's part of the inherent risk of trying to create anything for anybody other than yourself. I'm pretty sure they're adults who understand that, regardless of how else they feel regarding what happened.

I think we need to show our emotional support for Bioware.  Even though we didn't like the ending we need to let them know that we still love and care about them and everybody makes mistakes.

Yes, but some mistakes are insulting, even if they weren't intended to be. I don't feel as hurt as some other people do, but I can completely understand how someone could feel angry because they paid $60+ and didn't get the conclusion they feel they were promised. The claims being made that people were promised one thing and got another aren't entirely unreasonable; comparison between what was said pre-release about the endings and what was actually delivered is enough to understand where it comes from.

And, if they did make a mistake, as you implicitly claim, then the burden is on them to say they're sorry first. They haven't actually admitted that they've made any mistake at all yet. I wouldn't expect them to so soon, and I don't expect any developer to come out with a statement throwing other developers under the bus, because you simply don't do that to people who are on your team. But they need to at a minimum, acknowledge the problems beyond simply saying "a minority of fans are upset" (which I doubt is exactly true) and that "we will be supporting it over the next year" (because they were going to do that anyway).

Why would I feel sorry for a company who outright lie and disrespect their customers and now continues to be arrogant despite a clear verdict from the fans.

Hell no.

In a way. I can't help but feel bad for the writers. I respect the people that wrote the game and I think the majority of it was very well written. Also, I did see things in the game that made me feel like they listened to their fans.

I don't want them to feel like everything they wrote was bad, I just feel like the ending definitely needs to be heavily rethought and rewritten to match the tone of the rest of the series.

I really enjoyed the game, it was great, and I think this can not be stressed enough, it was just great work overall, of course there where glitches, and weird textures sometime, but they didn't really matter much.
Let's hope everybody gets what she/he wants.
People who like the ending, can stay with their decision, people who don't get some alternate/alternates, and BW gets a happy fanbase and makes a huge pile of profit selling DLC, Merchandise and Bioware points. :)

If we get this fabled "truth" DLC, and it's big, relevant and free...not only did they keep their promise, but they went above and beyond.

It's not out of the question yet, regardless of what so many people think. I wish everyone would just sit tight for one goddamn minute and let things go.

I actually posted this awhile back in a thread I made. I do feel sorry that Bioware, a once widely loved company, is now receiving so much hate. I explain that I still love their work, but I will keep "Holding the line".

Have a field day.

If i were BioWare i wouldn't worry about it. It's long been known that the Dragon Age and Mass Effect fandom are among the worst in the video gaming world.

This peurile tirade against the ending seems a pretty logical step up from the pathetic hatemail sent to writers and voice actors and the misogny-fueled outbursts over Female Shepard's blonde hair.

Lucky for BioWare, plenty of mentally healthy people, such as myself, like their products too. If one good things comes from the whole debacle, maybe it'll be the negative element within the community finally moving on, leaving a more pleasant one in its wake.

I've been transitioning from BSN to Tumblr. The "fans" spend a whole lot less time and energy on hating and a whole lot more on celebrating the characters and story.

It's like two sides of a coin.

I feel a bit bad for the guys who worked on the project, hoping they were going to bring us something we'd absolutely love. In my opinion, they mostly delivered, spoilt only by the horrible quest journal, and an ending that is unsatisfying.

At the same time, I don't think too many of us on here are exactly being 'mean' to them. In fact, the bulk of the debate on these boards regarding the ending has been very constructive, civilised and none-inflammatory. It's clear there's a problem, and the product they hoped to deliver has been marred by controversy.. but at least we are generally being rational and cool-headed about it, providing positive solutions rather than mindless flaming.

You don't feel sorry for a corporation that's made millions. Just like when Conan O' Brien got booted from the Tonight Show, you don't feel sorry for him. He's had a great career and is filthy rich.

Cruel to be kind Veggies...

The end doesn't make sense and is not of the quality and comprehensive scope we were all expecting.

Tali-face was a cop-out. Pure and simple.

Winter Space was a similarly cheap artistic shortcut.

We all love Mass Effect with a burning passion and what Bioware is capable of, and I'm sure Bioware appreciates this.
Bioware will benefit from this is the long run, so will we the fans and future fans yet to discover Mass Effect, and so will the Mass Effect franchise going forwards.

Cruel to be kind.
