To illustrate: You'd feel bad if I made this painting of sheer awesome and then smeared crap all over it because I ran out of paint.
Both stink. Both are examples of poor judgement. Both will not please the audience (a few exceptions, but apparently they appreciate the 'dark' and 'deep' origin of crap.)

Just fix the ending, and no one needs to feel bad for anybody.
In a nutshell.
I think they are going to address it. I just hope that it's free. They will earn back a lot of goodwill if this is the case, and rightfully so.
If it is substantial (thinking actual expansion, 5-10+hours of gameplay added) then I think it's even probably alright to charge for it. But if EA and Bioware were to just eat it and release it for free all the same no matter what (and hell, they can certainly afford to)? That would be amazing, and would receive some well deserved kudos.

SO funny!
Well, I am pretty sure EA had nothing to do with the ending. They know (or at least should know) that you need to let the professionnals (writers) take care of it.
Please, let the Indoctrination theory be true.

Somewhere along the line, his team failed him. He's going to be remembered as the guy who wrote an ending so bad it caused actual news agencies to take notice. The blame will be borne by one guy, but really his entire team failed him in his hour of need by not voicing the problems with the script.

But that one bit is so bad is in essence invalidates all the great stuff they pulled off. :/
I do think it is a shame that BioWare was purchased by EA -- I pooh-poo'd all the panic saying that EA would ruin another great company, but I have to say, the doomsday folk seem to have proven correct.
Artificial deadlines, trying to appeal to too broad a fan-base, instead of sticking to what they were known for and good at.
And apparently no budget for editing.
Edit -- added this:
Their name used to be golden to me -- they could do no wrong, and I would have staked anything to recommend them to anyone.
Then Dragon Age 2, which probably should have set off more alarm bells than it did. And the way they reacted: pretty much the way they are reacting now, pretty much ingoring it.
Now this. Even if they do eventually fix the product, I have zero faith in their ability to deliever the kinds of games that brought me to them in the first place. I definitely will never pre-order anything, and if the endings remain unfixed, no more Bioware or EA products ever again. Yes, including cancelling my SWTOR, which I am enjoying very much.

If i were BioWare i wouldn't worry about it. It's long been known that the Dragon Age and Mass Effect fandom are among the worst in the video gaming world.
This peurile tirade against the ending seems a pretty logical step up from the pathetic hatemail sent to writers and voice actors and the misogny-fueled outbursts over Female Shepard's blonde hair.
Lucky for BioWare, plenty of mentally healthy people, such as myself, like their products too. If one good things comes from the whole debacle, maybe it'll be the negative element within the community finally moving on, leaving a more pleasant one in its wake.
What is the relationship between being mentally healthy and being unable to comprehend the failings of an ending that is filled with plot holes, logical inconsistencies, and puts forth a message that is morally repugnant and counter to the established themes of the series?

I might have sympathy for the Bioware employees as individuals, but I will NOT let up on my criticism of the completely botched horrible ending, because it deserves every ounce of disgust it's receiving, nearly universally.
Nor will I let up on Bioware as a corporation for allowing such an unfinished product to ship; Corporations are not people, Supreme court idiocy aside, and deserve no more sympathy than any other object.

Nope, all out of pity. Will contempt do instead? I seem to be sitting on large stockpiles of it.
Will need a shipping address if it does.
EDIT: To clarify, my feelings are directed at the company, not the people working for it - with a few exceptions, of course.

The kid made the problem, but probably didn't deserve to be run over hot coals. I don't like it when it happens to me, so I don't like it happening to others. But you reap what you sow basically, if you look to court controversy, don't be surprised when it comes.
