It's Mass Effect.... not pacman... pacman is a fun game that has literally no story built around it... Mass Effect is a game as deeply enriched by story as it is gameplay... if one part fails it drags the entire thing down.

That being said... Story comes in five parts all equally important and equally reliant on the other.

Part 1.  Indroduction
Part 2. Rising Action
Part 3. Climax
Part 4.  Fallling Action
Part 5.  Resolution

If you land 5 ouf of 5 then you can make a decent story... failing at one of these sours the entire bit.    Failing the story department of a game so enriched by story brings everything down....

You are right... if this is pacman.... it's not... it's Mass Effect.

How can you say that!

The combat was clumsy the sub-plots were the same no matter what you decided in ME1 or ME2 or who died in 1 and 2.

The fetch questions of scanning were mind-numbing than the scanning of minerals.

The squad mates had very little story and character interaction.  The inventory system was pointless and mostly redundant as the game can easily be finished using the armour sets you can buy.

And those the only things I can think of right now but I'm sure there are more.

Oh yes Tali's face!

I totally sign everything you say (except Tali's face, not sure if I even want to see it - making her look human would be just meh, but making her really alien would also ****** off the fans). Next to the ending, my biggest cooncern is the lack of depth regarding you squadmates, far to few conversations and story. And WHY THE HECK did my Shep not contact her best friends in the 6 months she spent on earth? Hello, she ****ing loves Garrus and does not even bother to write him an email?
Well, and of course the ending just ruined everything for me. No point in any LIs, no point in reuniting the whole galaxy. Nothing. Unless there will be a DLC.

You're welcome to like both,  it's up to each person to decide.  But the lack of sales for DA2,  and the consistent drops in sales each month in all gaming demonstrate pretty clearly that you are very wrong on your assessment of other people's standards.

My problem with SWTOR has been the mechanics. That and they had some good things 2 builds before the early release. They nerfed them.I don't know if you PVP but Ilum could just freeze up your chr.I think they back seat fixes to basics to often.
Now DA 2 wasn't terrible but right on the line.ME 3 has some really good parts but still some plotholes that could sink a tank. That isn't including the ending.Rarely was there the wow factor.I don't mean the game. They  had some parts  that would of won them the Give Me A Break Award.Just a note:You forgot all the it isn't  Wow(The Game) or how come Wow has it and so on.I been playing SWTOR since July in the Beta.It is a good game.Yet they really need to fix some bugs.

Um... I love the three games you are decrying. They each have their flaws, but they have been very fun and interesting to play. Bioware still hasn't done wrong by me.

Really nothing technically wrong with SWTOR that won't be patched eventually. Some people just hate it on principle because it's not WoW 2.0. And personally thought DA2 was just fine, but I picked it up in a bargain bin. Wasn't "whoa, great game!" but not "that sucked" either. Just sufficient entertainment for amount of money spent.

But yeah, it's 0/3 still, because of ME3's 3 problems:
a) Day 1 DLC.
B) Massive bug (Face import)
c) ...the ending, which is certainly being "debated" now.

0 for 3? I think not. I enjoyed every game in some measure. I enjoyed ME3 quite a lot. 0 is just childish.

Bioware, you're starting to lose your unshakable credibility here.....

If you're 'scoring' BioWare, then you can't do it based only on the 'losses'. 0 for 3 suggest they only made three games, and they all sucked/failed/whatever your stance is. If anything, that'd make BioWare 3 for 3, since they had DA:O, ME and ME2 first, among many other titles.

If this is how you choose to score them though, how did they have unshakable credibility in the first place with every game being a fail?

Mass Effect 3 is pretty fun. That being said, I definitely think Bioware peaked a few years ago, and have been on a steady decline since. I think Bioware need one or two years out of the industry to refresh their minds, but given that EA is cracking the whip, I don't think that'll happen

Can anyone tell me what "# for #" (for example, 0 for 3) means? I've heard this used several times online (though never in person - maybe it never jumped the borders) but I can't look it up because the numbers change and "for" isn't specific enough.

Apparently.

Personally I don't hate it, but I can understand why people do.

Ah, thanks.

I didn't play SWTOR, so wasn't sure about the problems with that game.

Problems with it were (in my opinion)

-tons of bugs (including gamebreaking and stuff that makes some people get BSoD).

-flawed design in some areas for an MMO (easiest to show to a non-MMO-player would prob be the fragmentation of the playerbase on a given servers faction into over a dozen areas without a centralized way to communicate needs for grouping, making it a nightmare to get groups for some of the things).

-worst support I ever had the misfortune to deal with.

I stuck around for 2 months, then I had had enough of them releasing the game both in this state as well as not fixing or acknowledging the issues proper.

SWTOR was OK, I had fun for a couple of months, not good enough to convince me to continue to pay for playing it.
DA2 was good. There were problems, much of the last act was pretty stupid and there were several other problems but I had a lot of fun with it.
ME3 was very good while the ending was mediocre. I don't hate the ending as so many people here seem to but as a conclusion to something I loved so much, including what had already happened in ME3, it was disappointing.

I don't regret the purchase of any of those. If I have genuine criticism of any bioware product recently it would be the DLC for DA:Origins. Return to Ostagar was bad and Witch Hunt was terrible.

Its a scoring system, usually in sports. 0 for 3 means 0 wins out of 3 attempts. The first number is always wins, the second is the number of games/attempts.

I disagree.

Now don't asume I love Blizzard or WoW, cause I don't. Blizzard is actually on my list of companies I don't bother with anymore because of some of their decisions concerning business strategies and WoW, but that doesn't mean I can't objectively gauge the product called WoW.

ToR is basicly WoW in space. Heck playing a Sith warrior tank was practically like I was playing my old WoW warrior tank. Same mechanics, same abilities, even same ability names in some places...
the difference could really be summed up as:

+ for ToR:
+ better single player narrative (albeit also totally linear)
+ better display of loot on corpses and area loot option
+ companions
+ light sabers

+for WoW:
+ stable (never had a BSoD in WoW, record for ToR was a dozen in one day)
+ design flaws and bugs are usually not gamebreaking (ToR had plenty of those)
+ Controls are more responsive, leading to a better PvP "feel" (ToR was very unrespsonisve, and sometimes deflect/parry animations breaks your abiloity usage, meaning you have little control over actually firing off an ability you told the interface you wanted to use)
+ Addons allow you to customize your interface and gaming experience (I continually missed addons in ToR)
+ An auction house you can actually use decently (ToRs was just horrible, and coupled with the window to it shutting down if a companion came back from a mission could be teeth-grating)
+ Good support that was flexible in its dealings with customers to ensure customers got their issues resolved (ToR support seemed like a bunch of people that hit the copy/paste button instead of trying to deal with the issue, and since every reply was dealt with by a different person, you'd get the same response AGAIN when you replied to their mail telling them why their response didn't work)

All in all, I would say WoW is the better product. I don't like Blizzard, but I admit the product is still superior to most stuff on the market today, especially ToR which is just in a horrible condition at the moment.

I'd say they are 11 for 11 so far (not counting expansions) As much as I disliked the different direction of DA2 and wish the last 15 min of ME3 were a bit different I'd still rank their games way above most other companies' efforts.

**SPOILER ALERT (Maybe)**

I liked DA2 - just not as a sequel.  (It shouldn't have been sold as a sequel.)  I had misgivings about ME2, but I gave it quite a bit of latitude...  I was looking forward to ME3 and I thought it was GREAT until the last ten minutes undid the universe.

Now I really have no desire to play anything related to ME, or really even DA for that matter...  But that feeling might pass over time...

MMO isn't my thing so I will never buy SWTOR. I still wish there was a third single player KOTOR game instead of an MMO, but that whole thing has been discussed to death.

I did not think that DA2 was the big steaming pile of excrement that everyone else thought it was. That said, the game had it's problems. I didn't think the story was particularly compelling and constantly reusing environments for caves, etc. was annoying. It really doesn't live up to the standards set by previous Bioware releases. However, I had fun playing it and I liked the characters.

To date I have not purchased ME3. Even before the ending controversy exploded, I wasn't sure if I was going to purchase it due to the PC version being bundled with Origin (I have never bought a game that is bundled with Steam either). I'm not too pleased with the fact that the single player game is influenced by participation in the multiplayer game. As far as the ending controversy goes, I have no opinion because I haven't seen the endings. I'm still undecided on whether I am going to purchase the game, so I haven't looked for spoilers.

In the defense of Bioware. "****-mode, activated!"

Dragon Age 2 was developed during a period of 1 Year and 5 Months, whereof the team wasn't even full for the first months. You can't expect that a game in such a grand scope to be a masterpice in such a small time-frame. It's impossible, The first Dragon Age was in production for FIVE years. Dragon Age 2 was rushed by EA and I promise you it would have been as amazing with another year or two under development.

SWTOR was an MMO, and also a new experience for Bioware, you can't expect any company to pull a MMO out of there sleeves and make it good. And well, World of Warcraft was pretty crap during it's first months too. Give SWTOR some time and it'll grow.

Mass Effect 3 is an amazing game, but even it is rushed. All thanks to people leaking the script and the need of loads of rewriting.

And don't come here and tell me that older Bioware-games had their flaws too. People like to say how little of an RPG Mass Effect 2, 3 are whereas Jade Empire did'nt even gave you the option of creating your own characters. I understand you though OP, it's hip to hate on Biowares latest games this day and age, it's cool, everyone does that.
