There is indeed a display bug on shales damage, armor penetration and crit chance, what i have trouble believing is that this is something related to the dex fix. From what i know no original files get modified by applying overrides, so there just is no logical way this can happen. Of course it will corrupt future savegames but not old ones.

How do you know this display bug for shale was not always there? And yeah i call it a display bug because my damage goes up when equipping an offensive crystal and i cant find any real problems.

I didn't know. That's why I was wondering if the bug was already there in the first place. I feel much better now knowing it's only a display bug, haha thanks.

It's NOT a display bug.
Shale's armor isn't work at all with hotfix if placed in document folder. Tested with the best armor on and off, Shale takes the same damage from my test enemy with a bow.
Displayed shale's armor is 4, and take about 20 damage from every single shot no matter you equip Shale with crystal armor or not. The best one I have should give 15+ armor. But the damage Shale taken is close to Morrigan's. Tried with another character with 25 armor, only takes 7~10 damage form the same foe.

And with hotfix Shale's armor doesn't give any fatigue because the armor's basic attributes are completely ignored. So you can find all skills Shale use actually cost  10% less stamina because you have -10% fatigue.
Without hotfix the crystals give some fatigue and you will cost a lot more stamina in real combat.

You can fix Shale's armor by replace the hotfix to modules/single player/override folder, but your weapon damage/crit/ap still won't be applied in combat. The reason your damage boosts in combat with crystal is the damage type conversion.

It's seems Shale can't get item set bonus with hotfix no matter which version you use or where the gda file is placed. As long as the .gda file is created by current tooset, the problem is still there.

Without hotfix  you can get item set bonus to extra resistance for sure.
But it is impossible to completely fix Shale from your saved game once ItemStats.gda is applied.

The best you can do is fixing the armor by remove Shale's armor with hotfix, then save, exit game, and remove the gda files, (or move to modules/single player/override folder if you want dex fix to work.) than start saved game and equip armor, you can get the bugged armor back.

Shale cannot be fixed perfectly, not until we got new official patch, and sadly I doubt 1.02 can fix this.

What happens if you pick up Shale without the hotfix installed?

I use Shale AND the dex hotfix (installed in my documents override - and it still bugs Shale BTW)

It's not that big of a deal to me because Shale was so imba to begin with. I honestly had two playthrus without the hotfix and never saw him fall in battle once (unless he was the last and it was a complete wipe).

I've found Shale works well with the hotfix if you cap his Str/Con at 32 and put everything else into Dex afterwards (making him a wiggle tank instead of an armor tank)

Workaround: use old package core override and remove armor. Displayed armor wont change (due to bug). Then make a new save game, exit and put hotfix in single player/override. Now base armor is at its default value (due to save value). Get some armor, and it will increase properly. Hope it helps.

But we know the basic weapon attributes(dmg/crit/ap) aren't fixed this way.../../../images/forum/emoticons/sad.png
Although
it's not a fatal problem, shale's weapons don't apply much base damage.
The advantage of damage type conversion and the percentage bonus are
still there.
But this problem still made me upset so I use other companion instead.

Quick question: I removed the hotfix and dropped back to a pre-hotfix save. Am I OK?

Solution: Don't use Shale. Everyone acts like he's necessary to tank. Alistar or Sten do just as well properly geared.

I'm not sure about this, but rpgplayer1 told me that...
weapon thing happens to everyone, and is not hotfix related.
Even without hotfix (or any itemstat.gda file created by toolset), Shale's crystal weapons are bugged themself.
So if someone start a new game without any override, Shale's crystal weapons are still broken.
