By Morgrim I assume you mean Morrigan?

You have 2 mages, I don't see how you could possibly be having issues, especially since you cheated with a respec mod. Use crowd control spells to limit the number of enemies you are fighting. Take out threats to your mages first (enemy mages and archers usually) Use your melee to protect your mags from enemy melee.

Hell, with 2 mages you should be walking through most fights in a matter of seconds, 2 fireballs will wipe out almost any group of 'white' enemies before the battle even starts. Grease +fireball will burn through guys quickly as well, use it like a wall in front of your mages.

I can tell that you are new to the game, by looking at the misspelled Morrigan. Even on normal the game is unreasonably difficult for new players, who are not used to strategic pausing and still have limited knowledge of which skills/spells they need to pick.

Basically you just need to know which spells your mages need, as mages are the key to winning every battle with minimal effort. Having 2 in your party should see you through the game with 1 hand behind your back, once you start getting used to the combat and have gathered some degree of insight as to which spells you need.

EDIT: I see i got beaten to the punch by 15 seconds, with more or less the same arguments as mine

Dont go into Denerim. That isnt meant for low-levels.

Ok you are lvl 13(normally lvl 10 should be min.), but if you are unexperienced go first for

Mage Tower and then for Redcliffe. Will still be hard, but not as hard when you have 16 guards around you *g

I've already been to Mage Tower, Redcliffe, and the forests were the elves are.. I'd like to say I'm new to the game and use that as my excuse but to be honest ive put 28 hours into the game so far :\\

Sorry for all the misspelt names and areas :( Uh.. ill try what you guys said.. Is there any 4 characters you would recommend to have in my group? And what about spec's and equipment?

I've respec'd my character for the nth time.. I'm now a Arcane Warrier.. See if this helps any.. But yea thanks for your comments so far.. Ill definitely try to put them to some use.

Arcane warrior is it?

Remarkable - you nailed both the most powerful clas AND specialization on your first run through the game. And hilariously enough, you are having trouble with it

. Cue for everyone to post the obligatory " i soloed the game with arcane warrior on nightmare"

But, as stated before you just need to know which spells you need. Cone of cold, fireball, sleep, waking nightmare, mass paralysis can cover basic area effect ownage, while crushing prison, wintergrasp, petrify handle nicely against single powerful foes.
One exceptional spell - mana clash instantly kills any non-boss caster enemies in the area. The entire branch is smells worse than socks from a fleamarket, but just for mana clash - its worth it

As stated before with 2 mages you should be able to sleepwalk trough the game, esp since your PC is an arcane warrior

EDIT: oh, you unlocked the arcane warrior via mod? I didnt see that. Seemed like too much of a coincidence anyway.

In all fairness, the game can be a **** at time with the difficulty spikes. I had my arse handed to me more than once in Denerim by Thugs. If your running a mage heavy group, CC is your friend. Cone of cold, Blizzard, Mass paralysis etc, all help to manage mobs. I find focus firing helps a lot too, pick one mob and just beat the blarney out of them. other than that, I'd check the tactics you've set up for your party members. If your new to the game, you may have not realised how significant they are

Treat this like an MMO.  Use your two mages and Leliana to croud control people.  Freze them with Morrs abilites and focus on the non frozen.  This should even the playing field.

Easy mode is...well a bit too easy in some parts...can just cast an AoE spell from far away from the mobs and they done even have the AI to come over to where you are...they just wait and die from the damage...and you can go frontal assault and clear up the rest....hope that helps

and yes..arcane warrior rules...plate on a mage :)

I found that if I was surrounded by enemies I woul have a big problem even with 2 mages in the party (Self and Morrigan), but if I could get my back to a wall or into a corner thenI would have a more than good chance of fighting everyone off. Best spells Fireball (but careful with friendly fire) Mind blast and anything that slows down, or better stops people from moving so you can beat on them while theyr are uconscious. I am sure there are other ways, but this works for me. Healing powers are very important - Wynne is excellent in that role and I have given bot myself and Morrigan some healing skills (but not as specialists). It helps to start everyone on the big boys (Emissaries, alphas) and then get at the archers which can be a real nuisance knocking off bits of health al lthe time.

Here some general tips.

Foccus on the yellow and red enemies first. Try to keep the enemies off your mages by using the right spells like horror, petrify or something else that stuns them and send a warrior or a rogue on the enemy attacking your mage. You can also use a rogue to use dirty fighting to stun an enemy. Also make sure your rogue is posistioned behind a target they do much more damage that way. It is smart to let a rogue attack a enemy that is attacking a warrior as the enemy will foccus on the warrior while the rogue backstabs. This makes that your enemies go down much faster. Also make sure to have enough mana and health potions with you. Use the herbalism skill to make potions yourself or buy them at a vendor.

Also when you have two mages. Let one mage foccus on healing preferably a spirit healer as they can revive chars that have fallen in battle. And let the other mage foccus on doing damage on large groups of enemies and stunning the strongest enemies (the red and yellow one's).

Anyway good luck.

Well you have two mages in your group so yeah.
There are two ways around this.

Play on casual

or

Use a crap ton of crowd control spells.

I honestly don't see how the game could be very difficult on the normal setting. I'm definitely not a big gamer, I've been playing on normal setting and without having to worry about friendly fire, most areas are pretty easy (although I did play on WoW for years as a healer not sure if that counts or not). Granted yes, there are some battles where numbers overwhelm and I have died and had to redo... though that's because I've left tactics almost completely alone, and don't pause to control every character and usually don't bother with much strategy (only pause for my pc character a mage, and sometimes Wynne).

Anyway my suggestion: use Wynne, she's invaluable if you're new. I even have healing spells on my own mage, and spot heal when healing is really needed. I found in harder fights, having Alistair, Oghren and Wynne with my mage worked really well. And remember fireball and inferno are great when you don't worry about friendly fire and there's a ton of mobs...then have mind blast ready to stun any mobs that go after you after the area attack. I will change out Oghren for Leliana often due to wanting to pick the locks on chests.

So basically when I start out, I start with a fireball to the mobs to scatter them all, then use walking bomb, then if mobs come after me I use mind blast and run away from them and then switch between healing my characters if they need it, or casting arcane bolt and renewing walking bomb.

Though someone who does real strategy fights would probably hate me... I go in and just try to blast everything, get aggro on myself...and barely make use of my tank and other characters. It still manages to work well enough except for boss fights... then I just quickly go over to whoever needs heals and make them chug a healing potion. I doubt when I decide to try a difficulty past normal that I'd get away with it, but hey only had the game as a rental and wanted to do as much as I could before I get the game for Christmas (managed to finish the Landsmeet so up until then, haven't had too much difficulty, most things just...die). lol I play on xbox 360, so not sure if difficulty is different from console to pc. Hopefully something I've mentioned helps a bit. :) *goes into withdrawl not having the game anymore*

Oh... and if you aren't on the normal setting and you chose hard or nightmare when you're a new gamer... switch to normal and you'll be able to survive much better (or switch to easy to get the hang of it?).  :)

I say "roll with it". Enjoy your defeats as much your victories for it is an easy game that makes us lazy with ennui.

I had the same excitement...er.....problem in my game too!

The only tip I can share is this: Learn from your mistakes and never repeat them.

This is your basic group for DA: you need a tank, 2 DPS, and a mage. You need a tank that can actually tank. If your tank is falling faster than your mage, then something is wrong. You can plug in as much mages as you want, but where's the fun in that? Having a rogue on the party is essential as well because of the locked chests.

if you're having trouble with pulls, make sure you pull them one at a time. Get the rest of your party to hide around a corner and hold their position. To do that, go to the radial menu -> advance -> hold position. Use your tank as bait and pull the mob to your group. The reason for this is because you don't want enemy mages to snipe your party with a big fireball. If you use this strategy, the mages will come to you and you can easily pick them off at a narrow corridor than a big open space. Potential enemy ambushes are totally neutralize if you use this strategy. Good luck !

Rogues with effective stealth rock as a way to learn your way around an area without alerting the baddies your there, then you pull back and set up a nice ambush. As the tip says, no one will remember your heroic front offence. Charging full steam ahead into any fight is a *really* good way to die.

Then again, if you get dumped straight into one, make sure you always have some insta booms ready. Paralyse, forcefield and crushing prison are brilliant for screwing up a mage or elites day. It keeps them out of the picture while you can nuke their help, and stops them nuking you.

If the mobs have a major haron for one of your squishies, then forcefield on said squishy, ie Wynne will keep them safe, while you once again beat down the mobs. AoE stuns to grab a few seconds to breathe and reposition your caster to CoC down a group....ect.

I'm on my second major play through, and it takes a bit of playing thru to get used to the different styles, but I'm now breezing through again, with a rogue as my main, Alistair as my meat shield, Wynne as back up and usually Morri if I want to happily cheese thru mobs.

also keep in mind using traps if you arent' sure of mages. Some basic traps will do wonders for messing up incoming enemies.

My Kill/CC order is usually Mages, casters, Emissaries.

Aoe/cc the white mobs down.

Deal with Elites at your leisure.
