Well
just like a blockbuster movie I would imagine the second week to drop
off like that as most people get new games right away right? I could be
wrong, dunno

Yes, sort of. Good / popular games can buck that trend though.

I believe DAO week three and four sales matched (or exceeded?) those on release week.

Different scenario. DAO was a new and unproven IP that needed a strong opening and word-of-mouth to bring up sales. The first batch of customers bought it, then played it, then told others that they need to play it.

ME3, on the other hand, is a heavily hyped threequel that would have a LOT more day-one purchasers, and would rely less on word-of-mouth sales afterward. Not saying -74% is something to scoff at, but you aren't really comparing apples to apples.

Not to defend that game (especially the end)

But Game not being able to stock it might be a cause of this.

Most of the other places it's stocked are online stores, and if you go to places like Amazon, people are giving the game bad reviews due to the end.

So, there are a number of reasons affecting this. 1, it's not on shelves, and 2, people reading ratings online probably aren't going to buy it right now.

LOL. Told you this was gonna be DA2 all over again.

Of course, it's not over till the fat lady sings - but I'm quite sure that the sales will continue to fizzle out just like they did with DA2.

Kind of meaningless unless we know what the typical drop off in sales of a blockbuster game is.

20~40%

Nope:

Skyrim -70% Globally Week 1-2
http://www.vgchartz....-skyrim/Global/

COD MW3 -85% globally from week 1-2:

http://www.vgchartz....rfare-3/Global/

Both also had better legs and had much higher preorder numbers. Skyrim's at over 12 million sales now, with DD.

ME3's around 2.4 or something.

Very true, but that will make it the most successful ME title by far.

With that kind of collapse, it could come in under ME2. We just have to wait and see.

Well, they have already sell more than 2.4 millions game, so....don't know how to take that number.
But 74% sound heavy. I would have expected something between 40 and 60%.

I think that at least 2% of that its our work. We can't know yet. Let's wait for this week analysis by vgcharts to see where this is going.

Next week, we may know.

Skyrim was at 13million.

Something to point out here. Bethesda, the company that made Skyrim is the video game company that made FO3- the video game where they did release a DLC to fix the endings.

This. The OP's stats are meaningless. Really, people were saying this about SWTOR too. Who cares?

Yeah, I think the comparison between weeks 2-3 and weeks 3-4 is going to be a lot more telling.

Mass Effect 3 ending managed to get in the metro in the UK (from what I know), but I was hearing people around university I am current in, talking about it because of it even though they haven't seen the ending and never played mass effect

But remember that Skyrim had a lot of ad campaign and that it was a stand alone game for a very famous saga.

Mass Effect 3 on the other hand, was the end of a story that started 5 years ago, i seriously doubt they even though of seeling 13 million games. I even believe that 2.4 millions sold was "reasonable" success.

On the other hand, DLC's sellings....that's something i want to see....unless it's an ending DLC, i seriously doubt they are going to sell as much DLC as planned.

It's important to remember that this is a 74% drop in the UK exclusively and doesn't take into account US sales

Well, I'm no considering this good news. I mean, Bioware created an ending that they thought would be satisfying. Apparently they made a mistake, but I'm not gonna skewer them for it. Besides, if EA decides to cut their losses and write ME3 off as a loss, how good do you think your chances of getting this mythical ending dlc are?

...You are looking at one console only. And considering DD when Steam is avalible is half of PC sales, multiply the value of the PC sales times two.
