It's not the game I have an issue with, it's the ending.

The ending negates any point to any decision in anything done previously.

So whats the point of replaying? Most games you replay because you can see the story again. Mass Effect is different because in Mass Effect you craft the story yourself, you and your Shepard (I discussed this in my blog). Whats the point of going through that journey again if every experience is meaningless?

I love ME3 and I love the whole trilogy, it's been a hell of a ride and not to be all dramatic but I can honestly say the ME trilogy has been the best gaming experience I've ever had!

That said I would be lying if my enthusiasm for the game hasn't been diminished by the ending, I did have to really force myself into my second playthrough which I'm now half way through and really enjoying. I love the game, it was everything I was hoping for, it's literally just the last ten minutes that ruined an otherwise epic game and epic trilogy!

Because there are more than a few serious flaws in the main part of the game and combined with the ending it makes me feel like 'why should I friggin' bother'.

I loved the series, probably is my favorite video game series of all time. I just can't bring myself to play another walkthrough with this ending.

To me it's a one and done type of game because there really isn't much of a difference between the endings. There pretty much all the same: Shep dies, relays get destroyed, reapers fly away or die. That's it. Plus everything I did with all the races was for nothing, Leaving a bitter taste.

Plus, what happened to Wrex, Jacob, Samara, Kasumi, and the rest of the troops fighting on the ground. What happens to there fate? Also where was Joker going? The ending was supposed to be a wrap-up of all loose ends. Instead we get more loose ends. There was no closure for trilogy, and that's what it's lacking.

Edit: If the ending gets fixed, then I'll play it again with my other Sheps. Forgot to answer the OP.

In my opinion, ME 3 is one of the best, if not THE best RPG ever made. Before people start arguing with me over "what makes" an RPG, I don't think it's having an inventory, or a turn-based combat system, etc. It's a ROLE PLAYING game, and the role-playing in ME3 is simply spectacular, some of the best written, acted, and emotionally effective moments I have experienced in gaming. Does the ending diminish the overall impression of the game? Certainly, but I love the game otherwise and I will play it again (preferably with new-ending DLC). If I didn't love it (and I think many of you could agree), I wouldn't be wasting my time on the forum here talking about the ending; I'd just say "F- it" and move on.

Sorry OP i uderstand where you comeing from , but for me personally
the replay value is zero , i have played ME 3 one time and after that i shut
the game off , ive played multiplayer but havent touched the singleplayer since
for me personally i just can bare to play the games again becasue of the utter
destruction of me 3 ending destroying ( for me anyways ) the entire purpose
experience and love for mass effect series.. for me it was more like flipping
the finger at you at the end of mass effect 3 , thank you for wasting your time..
your choices did not matter, you accomplished nothing , bye byeeee.

So yeah if the endings are not changed then mass effect unfortunatly is
death to me.. i just cant go thru the whole story again even though its
great.. bu tknowing it will all end in a colored explosion.

dont get me wrong the games are great even 3 up until the ending where
everything is wiped instantly.

I spent three games trying to prevent synthetics from wiping out all the organics in the galaxy only to be forced to commit genocide on those I tried to save. Honestly OP, one play through is more than enough.

I'l wait until they give us an ending worthy of the trilogy.

That's an intensely negative view because of what happens in Arrival. There's nothing to say the same happens following the activation of the Crucible.

Everybody seems so intent on selecting the most depressing ending they can conjure based on what you see. I posit that's fan fatalism & nothing more.

You know, I'd start building up some resilience to the fact that Bioware will not be changing this ending in any substantial way. I'd bet my house on it.

It's all a matter of dollars.  I think the community has pushed hard enough to make them consider it, but that isn't a guarantee it will be done.  Even if the developers wanted to do it, they wouldn't be bankrolled by EA unless there was an almost-sure guarantee that the DLC would make money.

Place your views on the conclusion aside for just one moment—are you really saying you don't want to experience this wonderful piece of entertainment again? Don't you think it's a bit hysterical to say you're entire enjoyment of the series has been broken beyond repair because of an ending, which I feel isn't as bad as many of you believe?

What difference is there between that mentality (oh my god I wanna die this game ruined my life wah wah wah) & the sort of sh*t we hear whenever a popstar like Beiber cancels a gig? Most of you would sneer at the notion of Beliebers, but judging from the responses on here, you're no better than them. Some of you are worse!

For instance, I can't think of a single video gaming moment that moved me as much as when I re-united the Geth & Quarians. Which was made all the more enjoyable because of my character's emotional attachment to Tali. You betcha I'm going to experience that again.

Granted, the dialogue is at times cheesy & over-the-top, but isn't that what we enjoy about this sort of adventure? This is a romance saga set in space. Simples.

I think we're damn lucky to have a game like this on the shelves. & I'm sure whatever Bioware chooses to do with extra content will add additional pleasure to the experience.

I'm not a fan of genocide typically...even in fiction. The fact that the writers of this game ignored their own canon, and forced in all 6 endings (after promising 16 vastly differieng endings), the primary hero of the epic to commit a genocide far greater than even the enemy he had been fighting against in all three games was committing does ruin the replay value for me. I loved the series and I loved the game...I truly wish they had put the same level of effort in the ending as they did in crafting everything up to it.

Oh, I've no doubt there will be DLC. I just doubt it'll change the ending.
