I turned off the game.

I knew it just wasn't going to end well at that point... actually, even before that point, when Hackett started telling Shepard the Cruicible was doing nothing.

I really thought *I* had done something wrong. Seriously. I came to these forums thinking there would be an answer on something I could do differently.

I went wtf, and thought bioware must have thought Deus Ex HR had a great ending (ps it doesn't).

After first time I went to forums, realized even with more war assets, end was the same. You get 3 choices of how to commit suicide & genocide(citadel/relay explosions) to stop the Reapers.

Blue= death by electrocution   Green= death by disintigration   Red=death by explosion.

Three games hundreds of hours just to be forced into a 10 minute forced suicide simulation for the main character I played for 3 games with no real survival happy end. To top it off, most of Bioware and their payed schills wonder why people are so upset?, thats the most disapointing part! I didn't realize this was a horror game.

The end of Mass Effect 3 is a fancy suicide sim, pick your color, your main character is forced to die. F### the people that wrote this and let the trilogy end like this!

p.s. A last breath in the rumble is an insult of a "Shepard lives" ending. He was at ground zero of Citadel explosion, badly wounded with no space suit, so thats either him waking up at the beam and it never happened or just B.S. like the rest of the ending.

I had an empty feeling. Then just stumbled into the middle beam. Then I turned off the console, watched some TV, and tried to enjoy some beer. It kinda has ruined my weekend. I've just been lurking these forums, gave some money to Child's Play, and not doing much else.

I've been having diarrhea ever since I finished ME3. I can't for the love of me open it for more than half an hour to play SP without going back to the bathroom. Half of that is probably because ME destroyed my appetite, but I digress..

I was fine with Synergy till I went to the forums. Now I don't like it as much.

I didn't get it at first. I did the synthesis ending first. After seeing how that ended I though "ok, so you actually chose the crappiest choice of them all, well done MrFob!" So I went back (discovered that since it overrides your Autosaves you have to start again from the Beam run and do all that stuff all over again) and tried the other ones. And that was when it hit me. It hit me pretty hard!

Why is the vent-child leading the reapers? Why would the star-child create synthetics to kill organics if synthetics were going to kill organics anyway? If the reapers already had control of the Citadel, why didn't they move it earlier in the series? dkfjidsjifjisdjfisifji!!!!!

Personally, I tried playing through the ending on gut feeling alone, no pauses to weigh my options and such, the Illusive Man stand-off having been done like this as well. Being obviously baffled at the choices before me I started doing the harsh calculus of whom I'd be condemning with each choice. And just like that I went with synthesis. Also, because I think Joker and EDI are an amazing couple. :<

Few minutes afterwards the "wtf period" finally started...I got really sad/angry/confused and here I am on the forums, supporting the retake ME3 movement. :D

Yeah. It was tough on all of us. All joking aside. I didn't make the Red choice lightly, but it was quickly made. I'd already wiped out the Geth. (character profile: colonist/ruthless) Choosing red would wipe out all synthetic life. Well the only synthetic life I cared at all about was EDI. The other synthetics were the Reapers and the little f***er. Red was the only choice that got rid of the little f***er, the Reapers, and completed my mission. Sorry EDI, in your case I really am.

One giant suicide machine. One giant genocide machine. One giant case of WTF?

Yep, read my post back up a bit . A forced pick your color/type of suicide to destroy the Reapers are the only options. Thats part of why people should be upset about the endings.

Here's what my thought process was:

1) "Synthesis? That's kinda interesting. Let's see what that one does first"........ That was amazing!

2) "Okay, now let's try the control option. My real Shepard would never do that because TIM was a total whack job and would never say he was right. But let's see what happens"..... wow! They reused a lot of the same assets. I guess that's because he dissolved or something both times.

3) "Alright! Here it is! Everything I've been waiting for for the past few years. The Destruction of the Reapers! I guess it sucks that all synthetics have to die. But Bioware DID say we'd have to make hard choices. I can't wait to see Joker mourning EDI"...... Well..... You have GOT to be kidding me!!! Nothing was different! *dumbstruck*

It was so incredibly out of character for the entire tone of the series I had NO idea what to do. Frankly, the entire GodChild convo just sort of went over my head and it was like an out of body experience. Once he had finished rail-roading Shepard with his three "choices" - I genuinely had no clue what to actually do. I could not wrap my head around what was going on. Why should I?! I thought I was playing a Mass Effect game and not Deus Ex.

Part of me wanted to go online and Google ending spoilers to see what the heck that crap GodChild said meant, but at that point I did not realize how terribly heartbroken I was about to be by the "ending", so I just tried to go with the flow.

So, because I was so confused and frustrated- I just took the "Control" ending, because (like an idiot) I for some reason believed GodChild and figured I could do the most good by avoiding killing EDI and the Geth, yet still getting rid of the "Reaper Threat".

What a fool I was. My Shepard would never in a million years willingly go along with allowing the Reapers to live when presented with the option to Destroy them. And honestly, as the player, that was what *I* wanted to do as well. I was genuinely *THAT* confused by the GodChild conversation. I had NO idea what was happening.

And there was no option to "recap" the options with GodChild. So if all that space magic, deus ex machina crap went over your head the first time around... Tough luck, you don't get to understand the "choices" laid before you! CHOOSE!

Now if Bioware had the goal of "indoctrinating" the PLAYER alongside Shepard... Then it worked on me! Congratulations Bioware, I caved. I chose to let the Reapers live out of sheer confusion.

Unfortunately, it appears that Bioware had no intention of indoctrination being a viable explanation to the ending.

So instead of being genuinely "fooled" by the Reapers last ditch effort at saving themselves, my Shepard (and me the player by association) were simply fooled and dumbfounded by terrible writing and execution.

So disappointing on so many levels.

This was my reaction....... I didnt want to be like the illusive man, I want to be good and was unaware as to the center choice(that i choose on my insanity run to see if it was different... nope) I choose to destroy, feeling like i have just betrayed everyone and everything i just did in three games in a matter of a few seconds I blinded my self with the false hope on a harder diffuculty it would be a "hidden". Disappoint is the word. MY Shepard wouldnt every destroy synthetics... after all legion's sacrifice was in vain by that now wasnt it?
