Got a little worried when I heard Hackett's voice. Then the glowing platform happened and I was all WTF Then the star child started talking and I was just waiting for my moment to tell him to get bent. Ok so not an option what choices do I have then... As much as I wanted to just destroy the reapers I couldn't do it, how could I commit genocide of the geth after everything Legion (who I considered a friend) had sacrificed for them? No chance in hell I was siding with the illusive man after everything the tool put me through. Finally I decided synthesis figuring I would see how it went and maybe come back and choose another option if I didn't like what I got. Watched the ending and just sat there for a minute, umm is that it... Maybe if I wait for the end of the credits there will be an epilogue... Grandfather talking to his grandson appears on the screen! Oh man here it is! Wait what that is it? Seriously nothing else??? Maybe I picked the wrong option. Reload and choose destroy (I hate the illusive man that much) Wait that was the same ending I just saw! Sign online to see if I had just horribly messed up my first play through. Eventually found my way here and have been living with an unshakable feeling of frustration since.

First instinct?

WTF.

Next thought.

WTF.

Third thought.

FTS.

Fourth thought:

"Ow.. Why'd I slam my forehead into my desk, now it hurts"?

I ALREADY had massive head-shaped craters in my desk from SWTOR.  The ME3 endings caused the biggest one yet, and a minor concussion also.

Only one response to that.

... *sigh* ...

I kept expecting a renegade or paragon option when talking to the kid... That didn't happen.

So after I regained control I turn around to try talking to the kid to get the "secret ending." I couldn't talk to him at all, he just ignored me.

Then I thought well maybe I can shoot him, maybe that is how you get a choice that doesn't suck.

Nope, so at this point I resigned myself to destroying the reapers. Saw the ending and assumed I picked the "wrong one." Reloaded tried again, now I am on the forums holding the line.

I played one ending knowing that I would be able to pick others using saves / alternate play throughs, felt it was disappointingly short and completely short changed the major plots and characters of Mass Effect, that Joker crashing on Eden was forced and the Stargazer was generally unwelcome. But I figured the other choices would be different, and now at least I knew which ending was not worth playing to.

After seeing the second ending I started swearing. After the third I came here.

Gut reaction to finding out you get to "pick ur fafret colour"? Sheer terror.

After picking an option? Violent retching.

While watching the ending? Emotionally gutted.

I have never felt so betrayed or violated by an experience in my entire life, what even.

My immediate reaction to the scenario?

I do remember one thought crossing my mind. When the Starchild had finished describing control and Shepard says "So the Illusive Man was right after all" I think I literally said and thought "Wait... What the ****?!? " (Note I rarely swear IRL), then "Wow, so you just talked a man into killing himself a moment ago for suggesting this, now it's suddenly", "Oh, wow geez, I guess he was right. Am I indoctrinated now?"

Putting this here so Dev's who are paying attention can take note.

Suicide charge towards Harbinger in the open was pure idiocy. Where is my "This is goddamn suicide, lets sneak around." or better. "We need to kill Harbinger first."

The first thing I did with the three choices was try to find a fourth. I explored every single location I could walk to for twenty minutes before hitting the boom option.

Ok, this is easy, destroy the reapers, thats my best option, i guessed that the geth would be ok with dying for the greater good, that didnt happen.

When I first played it, I was like "didn't Casey Hudson say there wouldn't be A B or C endings in a recent interview?"

I crossed the streams and sent the Starchild back through his dimensional gateway, saving the universe and New York City.

Personally, I realized that the ending was as bad as the headlines implied. I then turned around and tried to shoot star kid in the face.

ROTFLMAO! That reminds me of playing The Phantom Menace game...I spent the whole game trying to cut Jar Jar in half with my lightsaber because he irritated the crap out of me.

Your response was close to what mine would've been. Instead, my response to the ending was to not bother playing it. I refuse to put my Shepard in that crap situation. She would totally shoot the kid after telling him to go screw himself then fight the Reapers head on. "Killing" synthetics (when she has friends who are synthetics) would not be an option. Submitting? No effing way. Merging? Pfft. Fight to the death, that's the only way to go.

wtf is this ai doing here? wtf is he saying? wtf happens if i pick one of these? <spends time searching the internet while my shep stands there for an explanation because this can't be the end> "critical mission failure" what? fine. <replays, attempts to understand (still doesn't understand), and decides to just pick one.> OMGWTFBBQ! or something like that.

i've since calmed down and i'm holding the line.

I didnt really know what to do, I sat there and thought and thought. I chose red and watched the scene, and waited. Almost in tears through the credits buzz came on with his end speech and it went to menu. I thought I had done something wrong so I replayed the entire end again, and nope :S

Now im apart of the line.

I was stunned for about 5 seconds, decided that since the Geth were my loyal friends I was forced to pick the green ending.

Bioware, you made me pick an ending because I thought that particular kind of evil was atleast indiscriminate and screwed everybody equally hard.

I suspected it was a Reaper trick from the start, definitely felt very dreamlike to me. Especially the last option of synthesis sounded like something Reapers wanted to do with humanity since ME 2.

So what did I do? Walked right into the synthesis beam. Haha.

My gut reaction was to instantly go for destroy, I came to end the reapers, and by god will they die. All while thinking "wtf is this ****?!"

Firstly, I had heard the hoohah over the ending while avoiding spoilers. I knew it was going to be bad with the amount of people bashing it, so lowered my expectations to "This will be as bad as Lost". How wrong I was. The combination of 100hours invested in the universe and story, only to have it all pushed aside was worse than what Lost pulled (at least they gave some form of character closure).

As for the ending itself, I'm actually really angry at whoever wrote the dialogue for Starbrat. I don't know if it was me playing it late, poor writing or a combination of the two, but when he described the Synthesis option, it sounded like it would wipe everyone out and start a new cycle as the combination, or Evangelion goo ending. Control seemed evil due to TIM being shown and unlikely to work anyway, so I went with the Destroy option, even though I felt horrendous about the Geth and EDI. Turns out Synthesis would have been the option for me. Bloody Starbrat.

I was completely stunned. I stared at the screen for a full minute at least, going "What?" Then I didn't want to choose "wrong" so I went to watch the endings on Youtube, when I realized they were all the same, there was more staring and "What?"s, and I ended up saying "Screw ir" and picked the destroy option. It's what I'd set out to do since the beginning, so...
