Would a new ending actually make anyone feel better?

I want a full retconned multiple ending scenario running the entire spectrum from puppies and flowers to dark and depressing "just barely managed to keep any advanced species alive".

I fully acknowledge the amount of work that would go into that and would be willing to pay to see it happen, even if it sets a bad precedent.

But to answer the original question of this thread, yes if the replacement ending is well written, and above all gives me closure, it will most definitely make me feel better. For one, I would be able to stand replaying the entire ME trilogy again and again once more.

If it gives closure sure.  I want something that will let me start being able to play my umpteen number of ME3 replays.  But right now I just can't bring myself to.

Yes, if it provides a closure I need. Of course, my first impression will be still ruined and nothing will fix that, but at least I will be able to replay the game and enjoy it.

Lets get this straight.

Add a few DIFFERENT endings. Not one that invalidates the current one, but some that will be different from what we currently have. It changes nothing from the current grimdark that soul crushers love, and it adds ponies and sunshine for those who want it, and it should also include the option to fail miserably and have the Reapers reap everything. Like ME 2 had Shepard die. How did allowing Shepard to die affect ME 3?

It would help, but I'll be hesitant to plunge into BioWare games in the future.

Not really. I loaded my best Shep, played through the game and got to that moment where I was full of anticipation, that moment when I was finally going to find out how the story ended.

Can't get that moment back, it's over. The bell cannot be unrung.

Either a new ending, more ending options, or at least closure on the most important characters. (We never find out what happens to half your squad...)
Either ways: YES.

It's like a disappointing first time. BUT, there are plenty of ways to make up for it.

Yes, as long as -

A) It makes complete, logical sense considering material from current and previous games

B) Has an option to keep the relays intact

C) Gives the players a satisfying epilogue for the various squadmates, species, and factions

Yes. A new ending would not only excite me at the prospect, restoring my drive to play the game and see what it is, it would actually retroactively restore my faith in humanity and BioWare. Enough to make me forget about Dragon Age II

Even if the new ending is just a sappy "Everything is lovely forevers and evers! 8D" ending, it would be preferable to the 5-10 minutes of concentrated agony that caps off what might have otherwise been the greatest game I've ever played.

Just the though that BioWare saw fit to make a new ending would be an inspiring one

Sure, after a few months you might get a new ending. But the original ending, the most dramatic moment, has already passed. The best you can hope for is, months later, to replay the game and pretend that the previous ending didn't happen. The ultimate moment in any RPG, that first playthrough where your emotions are running high and you're gripped by what will happen next, is gone.

I didn't like the ending, not at all. I've explained why it is objectively bad. But the internet phrase "can't unsee" is perfectly accurate here. Once you see a person's face, no amount of makeup or plastic surgery will ever make you forget how that person actually looks. This ending is the ending. All you can achieve is a high priced DLC alternative ending that has probably already been leaked to the media. Would that actually satisfy you?

Hell yeah it would. I wanna see my Shepard getting laid with Jack!

Yep, it would. Because I'll replay the series until no computer of mine will run it if they do.

I once redid a critical battle scene (in a pen&paper rpg) with my dungeonmaster/storyteller and the other players. I have not forgotten the initial catastrophe but it really helped to go a long way to fix this. It was awesome the second time we did this. I fully expect this to be the same case with the ending to mass effect 3. The "Space Magic *snort *snort" joke will always be around but a new ending will provide so much to fix the initial damage and done right this will also stay in our memory.

I do not dislike the ending to the degree that others do. That being said, the current state of the ME3 ending has drained me of the desire to replay ME3. That's what is at stake. That's not a Bioware protest statement, it's just where I'm at. I still play multiplayer from time to time, but for the most part, I'm playing other games.

Will it make me feel better about ME3 as a game? Yes, because then I'll feel like playing all those import saves I spent so much time on.

Would cleaning up, expanding and filling in plot holes of the ending make me feel better about ME3 as a game? Most likely and I will then play all those import saves.
