Please finish the game and/or read our actual thoughts on the matter, not just jump to the conclusion that we think "ZONKS! SHEPARD DIED I WANT A REFUND THIS GAME SUCKS ASS!"

If I commission a painting, I expect it to be well done, and worth my money. If I buy an expensive antivirus program, I expect it to protect me from attacks well.

Same idea here. The "creative freedom" argument is bull, because there is money involved. When there is money involved, there is trade involved, and if we feel the trade isn't equal, then we have the right to complain. And please stop trying to act high and mighty if you end your post with that line.

JK Rowlings has gone back and altered novels as way of addressing plot holes. Would you say she has no artistic integrity? What about all the re-cut versions of movies?

For people to complain that it wasn't "as heroic as they expected" is utterly, astonishingly idiotic. While at it, boycott your favorite musicians. Tell them to only write X types of songs because you only like THEM. Hell, mail your favorite authors about writing ONLY ABOUT THINGS YOU LOVE! Let's kill ALL creative freedom and just petulantly stomp our feet and beg for our nerdy white blubberbellies to be pandered to.

another complainer complaining about complainers (sorry.. had to do it :bandit:)

That's life.  You produce something.  If people like it, they buy it. If they don't, they don't buy it.  That is pretty much a universal rule of the world and it discriminates against nor favors anyone.  Just because one is an artist doesn't make him exempt from, well, reality.

Artistic freedom means freedom from censor, not freedom from criticism, nor freedom from responsibility.

If you go to a Coldplay concert and they play songs by ACDC, it is absolutely in your rights to be angry (or vice versa, it was the first two bands that aren't alike that came to my head), you were promised one and got the other. Their artistic freedom ends where your dollar begins.

Bioware had a responsibility to deliver a game to our tastes and their advertisements, when we purchased it, we were promised something we didn't recieve. While ultimately they have no obligation to give us a new ending, they are not free from our citicism, and we are entirely within our rights to ask for a new one.

As amateur (but commissioned) artist, let me be absolutely clear, artistic freedom ends where the customer's money begins.

Please excuse me if this was already mentioned (as if it couldn't have been countless times), but just yesterday I raided a Cerebus encampment and discovered an old teammate injured there.

In the face of all that is being discussed, and my disappointment with certain aspects of what was otherwise a brilliant series and wonderful experience, I was still able to spend nearly three hours laughing about irony.

How quickly would Jacob have eaten his service revolver if he'd known what The Priiiiiize was going to be??? Ahh I don't care if it's been done. Still LMFAO!!!

Well... you fight against the reapers not as equal, but in a DESPERATE BATTLE TO SURVIVE. So everything matters. This is the point about this crusade i really dont understend. Why for you all was pointless?

there is a no spoiler so i really cant say, but it has to do with the last 10 minutes of the game

My advice, finish the game before telling people how to react to the ending. Until you've played it yourself you won't understand, whatever your opinion is of the ending itself.

Oh and by the way its never ever a good idea to insult people you don't aggree with. You end up weakening your own point.

Exactly

Beat the game, then come talk to us.

As for the "it's their game, they can do what they want" argument, yeah, it is their game and they can do what they want. That being said, we, as consumers, expect a certain level of quality. The ending made no sense, had many plotholes/inconsistencies and was poorly exectued. If it doesn't bother you, then more power to you.

But it does bother a great deal of people, espcially because of comments such as "we didn't want to have an ending where you choose between A, B, or C" (paraphrased from Hudson, I believe).

They, as writers, also have a certain level of responsability to deliver proper closure to the story, Sheperd and all the other major characters, which I and many others believe they did not.

In most other forms of storytelling, once a bad ending is made, it is permanent. No matter how much people hate it/complain, nothing can be done.
Modern games are in a unique position to be able to actually do something about it. And if they actually care about community feedback as much as they say they do, then they should and will do something to give us a better ending/endings.

Oh, and our complaints have nothing to do with Sheperd dying

Lawl. Might want to tell them THEIR game is sitting on MY shelf then.

Give me a break, Mass Effect has long been billed as a collaborative effort between developer and fan. It's one of the big reasons people bother to ask for the ending to change in the first place.

And while you're getting to the end of the game, contemplate a few things.

Prince of Persia
Fallout 3
Alan Wake

and other games where the ending was rewritten in DLC after the release.

Can't wait to see you on the line in another 20 hours.

And the argument that it's BioWare's game is complete garbage. Should citizens not have the right to complain that their taxes are being put to building a statue of the mayor in the middle of the city? Our money, and little else, funded BioWare and Mass Effect 3. BioWare are simply the workers who we pay - and who are paid quite well - to construct a game we feel is worth our contribution.

Is that entitled? Yes. Are we not entitled to something that we helped pay for?

I wonder if you'll hold onto your view after you've finished the game.

My total playtime on my first runthrough was roughly 32 hours. I loved 31 hours and 50 minutes of it. The last 10 minutes...ugh. I'm not gonna die if BW doesn't change the endings, but I will no longer be a "blind buy" customer.

Pretty sure the Catholic church would have wanted a change if old Mike had painted this on the Sistine Chapel:

Posted Image

The point?  The second art becomes comissioned consumer art the artist loses supreme creative design over it.  By arguments here, Bioware could have just ended the game with a 20 foot Barak Obama appearing and hosting a tea paty with Harbinger while riding a giant space otter.  Hey, its their creation, they can do whatever they want right?  We the fans have comissioned this game by our support of the previous two games, thus the artist is beholden to our expectations of that finished work.  The Mass Effect series has already well established story mechanics (such as problems being solved with guns, talking or biotics rather than space magic) which fans expect to continue into the third game.  We were led by the designers to believe there would be more of the same and thus, the outcry.

This has to be troll, or a trick - support it until you "see" the endings for the "first time" and the be "converted". A person who makes insulting posts about an ending they haven't seen wouldn't be able to use a keyboard without trying to eat it.
