I have yet to play a FemShep myself, but I was messing about with ME1 faces to see how you can get her to look. My next playthrough, if I ever get to it, will certainly be a FemShep.

there seems to be a lot of hate against the ManShep voice actor. I actually think he does a great job.

I also liked them both. I liked listening to my male Shepard talk. There were some things I liked his take on better and some things I liked her take on them.

1: I'm actually a girl.
2: I prefer her voice acting.
3: There's just something awesome about a woman being some epic military hero that a guy just can't have.
Lol at nr.3 ?
I know it is your opinion, but guys can't be cool military heros?
If anything it is femshep that is unrealistic in that scenario....
Why exactly is femshep unrealistic?
I agree. Watch Xena.
Canada, Germany, South Korea, France, Spain, New Zealand, Denmark, Israel Miltary frontline troops Women.
Multi tasking for the win makin sadwiches and kicking the bad guys asses, only lady's can
Correct me if I am wrong, but don't they lower requirements for women in most of those places? Less miles in X minutes etc? If so, that is just plain wrong.
I have nothing against females in military if they adhere to the same standards!
I know they have lower requirements in the police force strangely enough.
Coming from a family where my father and two of my brothers have served in the military, I can safely say that if you were to ask them wether women are capable of serving in the army or not, their answer would be; yes, they can.

I'm not trying to hate on people for choosing a female character, but I don't understand why such a large percentage of players do in comparison to other games.
Think Skyrim. I almost never see female characters, I've watched tons of videos of it.
Or WoW (hold the rage, please). More females, perhaps, but not that many more.
Even Dragon Age: Origins lacked them.
Dragon Age 2 and Mass Effect seem to have an oddly high number of female characters. I've heard the voice actor for FemShep is great, but honestly I find the male one to be equally as great, if not better.
So why, She-pards, did you make that choice? Do you think the voice acting is better? Lesbian scenes/staring at dat ass?
Because if I'm going to stare at an avatar's ass for an entire game, I'm making it a female one.

Jennifer Hale. 'Tis that simple. When I first bought Mass Effect, I defaulted to Male Shepard and absolutely couldn't stand his bland, disinterested voice. Switched over to FemShep, loved her, and the rest is history.
+this, she's an absolute joy to listen to, great voice actress.

The Anderson death scene works better when you're FemShep, in my opinion.

I'm a girl, why wouldn't I play as FemShep?

I'm a woman. I had to play male characters most of my life. When I found companies that gave me the option of playing female, I started buying their games and skipping the others. Now I only buy games where I have the option to play female. I do play the male option but the majority of my characters are female. Like Me.
It's one reason I've always bought BioWare, Elder Scroll and Fall Out, and Fable 2 and 3. I an very happy these companies realize that we do play video games and give us the option of playing a great female character.
Yep I do this too. I know this means I may skip some games I like but if you don't give me the option then I ain't giving my money more often than not.
I've heard there are others like us. Nice to know I'm not alone in my, according to some, strange viewpoint.

I'm not sure about this but I have a feeling Bioware has a lot more female players than most companies with the same type of games and it would have to be the fact that they give us a much more rich character development. This is just a guess though.
If the game gives me a choice? I play as a badass female. As for the dudes, maybe they'd rather see the backside of a female character than a dude? Not sure.
