I'm probably one of the few people that just doesn't really care for either Shepard.

Well that explains why you went with Jacob.

I'm a woman and I really appreciate to be able to play as such on games...

I have passed on games that only have male protagonists, no matter how much praise they got.

1: I'm actually a girl.
2: I prefer her voice acting.
3: There's just something awesome about a woman being some epic military hero that a guy just can't have.

Lol at nr.3 ?

I know it is your opinion, but guys can't be cool military heros?

If anything it is femshep that is unrealistic in that scenario....

Why exactly is femshep unrealistic?

I agree. Watch Xena.

Correct me if I am wrong, but don't they lower requirements for women in most of those places? Less miles in X minutes etc? If so, that is just plain wrong.

I have nothing against females in military if they adhere to the same standards!

I know they have lower requirements in the police force strangely enough.

After countless hours of playing as Ezio, Batman, Nathan Drake, Master Chief, Adam Jensen, etc... I've finally got the opportunity to play a character that's my own gender.

When the option is there, I actually never do a playthrough as a male.

I really like Jennifer Hale´s voice acting and have no problems with a female hero in a sci fi universe. Physical strenght do not matter in this kind of scenario. Fantasy is defferent though.
And, if I remember correctly, wasn´t the canon shepard supposed to be female and they scratched it right before the first promo trailer?

Burt I admit, I also like to look at her butt and romanced Liara.

She is Lady Hawke too. Cool, I might have to play a lady Hawke. Lol, i would buy another Bioware game if it Claudia Black and Jennifer Hale had major parts in it.

No, she's not Lady Hawke. Jo Wyatt is Lady Hawke.

It's somewhat difficult to make femshep look bearable (The official femshep just looks godawful).
If they had made her more attractive 'feminists' and the Kotake hate squad would have torn Bioware apart. If Maleshep gets a muscular torso, why can't they gace femshep a decent rack and face. Double standards much?

Which leaves lesbian romance options as the only reason to play femshep (although the scene with Traynor was really bad for numerous reasons).  Wouldn't touch femshep with a ten foot pole otherwise.

Was I the only one really annoyed with Deus Ex? Because you could play a female in Invisible War.
Yes I know Invisible War was rubbish, but still.

I like playing most of my characters as myself. I play DAO, DA2, ME2, and ME3 as fem characters.

*In my opinion, Default femShep is hot! (No ****** Image IPB)

Played male shep for my first playthrough that I did over the years.

Then for my second playthrough of the 3 games I went for femshep and actually enjoyed her more than male shep.

Clearly, if you're going to stare at a character's butt the whole time, it should logically belong to a volus.

I'm a woman, and I almost always play as a woman if I'm given the option. I also absolutely haaaaaaaaaaaate the male Shepard's voice acting. He sounds like my highschool phys ed teacher who always spoke in complete monotone.

So, why FemShep?

A belief that has been around for thousands of years is that women are weak, and incapable of performing vertain jobs and tasks. In the last few decades we have made tremendeous progress in this respect. Women have moved into industries once ruled only by men, such as the government and military.

So now it is perfectly reasonable for females to exist in these fields. However, even within these fields women face challenges and judgment. If you wear your hair a certain way or act a certain way, you must be a lesbian. Or if you dont act a certain way, then you must be weak and unfit to do the job because youre a woman. Woman have to be this, or cant be that - these are things every minority has been told since the beginning of time, but most people still accept these views as being perfectly fine, even in this day in age.

Even in video games women are depicted a certain way. Most of them are simply there to be rescued or to be a love interest or to be eye candy. Even if you play a woman as the main character, she is likely to be over sexualized and it becomes obvious she is only there to be stared at. But in comes female Shepard, this potent womand who has risen to the rank of Commander and is one of the most capable people in the universe. With the help of Jennifer Hales powerful presentation, Femshep blows away all pre-conceptions as you begin to see her as "Shepard", a human being, not just a woman, and you begin to realize that gender doesnt mean much at all.

She looked how you wanted her to look, but she had very average proportions and wore regular, practical clothing and armor, and besides romance interests, no one treated her any different for being a woman.

This is why Femshep fans thought she deserved to be represented along with "MaleShep". And so she was.

And that is why i play a Femshep ! I find Femshep really Meaningful for the Game-Industrie.
Sorry for the long post.

Not sure about those forces, but in the British Army there are definitely lower requirements for women to enter. Not all positions are open to women, either (ie. Royal Air Force Gunners). I can't really comment on whether that's a good decision or not, but the point about lower requirements still stands.

Everyone should have the opportunity, but they should need to go through the -exact- same standards.

I always default to females if the choice is there.

Reason1: I'm a girl, so the character is instantly more relatable.
Reason2: Male animations are often more rigid that female.
Reason3: Have you seen FemShep's butt?! Especially in that red spectre armor in ME1. It boldly went places only very lucky people had gone before . Not sure what it looked like on ManShep, but very sure I'm not too eager to find out.

Also, Jennifer Hale.
