a) meet her all 3 times
c) give her alliance assets
d) use paragon/renegade option with her father
i missed the first meeting with her (in the docs) and now she dies for me. bad thing is it seems i will just drop the game if i wont figure how to keep her alive with save editor - i wont replay it just for that and it pisses me off just enough to lose the interest.
oh and some people say she dies for them no matter what, so it might be a random story, just like Mordin on the last mission in ME2.

Mind clarifying? I've ran through twice, saved her each time, and I don't recall this.

The main idea right now is to

c) give her alliance assets

It's not random, that's for certain. I can only speak to what I've done, but I had romanced her, then turned her down in the room (not the docks), had her loyal from the second game (where I had romanced her), gave her the assets she wanted, and used the conversation interrupt on her father.
I'm sure that it's not a random thing, but I think that a lot of people aren't too interested in experimenting with the parameters (at least not as many as there would be doing it) simply because of the ending brouhaha.
I'm feel a bit gyped that I couldn't have Miranda in my squad again in Mass Effect 3, especially since I romanced her in number two. It would have been nice for Bioware to put in an option for the love interest in Mass Effect 2 to have joined the squad no matter what. Ah well.

minus the ones that don't make sense. ie Thane is too sick.

I guess. Would have been interesting to have a whole side mission devoted to curing that Kepral's Syndrome that the Drell are plagued with and thus gaining their loyalty that way, instead of having to gain it by proxy because you deal with a floating gasbag that simply lacks a mustache to twirl for added villain effect.

There were 3 crafts shooting the during the fight on earth (hard to describe exact point) flying cerberus colours. It was shown that miranda was one of the pilots.

yeah, looks like if you miss the very first meeting in the docs, you are screwed. I did that, and now she dies. Cant be assed to play the game from the start, cant be motivated to finish. Was really fun while it lasted, hehe.

nope she survives in my game, and pilots a craft that appears in an FMV near the end.
Must have missed that. I didn't see anyone from the main cast in that FMV even though Miranda survived (and is mentioned in game as leading a squadron). I have seen an Allience fighter pilot at one point, but that's just some random guy.
