Hello. Myself and a couple of friends have been having an issue with being able to join either private or public matches with each other. Out of the 4 of us only 1 can host where we can actually get past the Joining game screen and as this is far from ideal or even acceptable I feel the need to post here and ask for help or recognition from Bioware that there is a fault in their system and they are actively looking into it.

So here's what I've done so far to attempt to resolve the issue:

Forwarded indicated ports to my Router
Allowed port access in my Firewall
Enabled uPnP
Disabled Firewall and Anti Virus and attempt to host

Non of these have worked. But I don't see why I should of needed to try them in the first place - I can host public games and randomers can join and we can play perfectly well but should a friend attempt to join they get stuck on Joining game. The same is also true for my friends, they can host for randomers but not other friends. With the exception of 1, whom we can all connect to and join without issue but as I've said this is far from ideal if we want to play together when the friend that can host is not available.

So, help. Please?

Same issue here. We've tried all of the above (running version 1.00, off the DVD here, in case it matters) and no luck joining up with the friends. One time it only says communicating, while joining; the other it's only showing Joining game, with the only option to abort being a force quit with Alt-f4. On some occation, Origin crashes completely which, in turn, disables the game.

We can join public games and host public matches, but even when hosting a public match in specific settings (like reactor>geth>gold), it's impossible to find your friends. You know they are hosting a game right now, but all you see is "searching for matches".

Some fix or a solution to the problem would be appreciated.

Same problem here. Here's the thing that gets me about this situation. When the game came out I was able to connect to my friend and we played a few matches, but at least since the Brute contest (which is only the first time we noticed it) we have been unable to connect to each other.
Failed Solutions:
He hosts private game, I join. Connection time-out
I host private game. He joins. Connection time-out.
I host public game. He joins. Connection time-out.
He hosts public game. I join. Connection time-out.
He hosts private game, He invites. Connection time-out.
I host private game. I invite. Connection time-out.
I host public game. I invite. Connection time-out.
He hosts public game. He invites. Connection time-out.
He joins quick match I follow. Game is full, game cannot be found, or connection time out.
I joins quick match he follows. Game is full, game cannot be found, or connection time out.
Note: The connection timeouts have happened when we were "fortunate" enough to have a host player leave and the game migrated to one of us being the host.

UPnP is enable by default on our routers. Enabled port forwarding for 3659 and 6000. Repeated process for all 10 scenarios, same results.

I will point out that I currently live in Japan and he lives in America. If that makes a difference.

Just to update. After some playing around we managed to join a game hosted by a friend that we previously couldn't join. After attempting the fixes I'd already tried it occured to me it could be a router set up issue. As my router isn't connected directly to my PC but my phoneline for stability and performance reasons I wondered what if we did try with it hooked up to a PC instead. Fortunately one friend already has his router set up this way, but we couldn't join any game he hosted or invited us to when we previously tried. So first he forwarded ports to his router but no luck. Then enabled uPnP and success at last, we could all connect and play. This just seems like another possible fix to add to the list but it may be worth a look. Should this indeed be the reason I still feel it needs to be looked in to, I can only speak for myself but switching my router set up to fix this isn't an option. The cost of upwards of 10 disconnects (plus the constant crashing our other pc gets when playing a game if uPnP is enabled) on a typical evening's worth of play and shockingly awful download and upload speed just isn't worth the ability to host for friends.

*edit - original post was incredibly unclear

I have subscribed to every thread about this issue. As a quick question...is anyone on a school/college network and having this problem?

@Sunflash0 Have you tried port forwarding the ports found in the readme file too? The one's you've mentioned appear to be the same as the ones for PS3. I'm not an expert (or even that clued up - so there's a high chance I'm completely wrong) but that seems odd. Either way, worth trying to forward the ones listed.

TCP 42100
TCP Port Range 15200-15300
TCP Port Range 9945-9994
TCP 80

@cerebral.threat I don't know anything about college networks so I don't know what to suggest. If you have access to try any of the possible fixes I think you should. Different things have worked for different people in the threads that I've read. However Bioware or EA whoever is responsible for the system do need to look into this.
